Not a lot of channels for 6.0 owners unless you’re into watching 20yr olds try to build “1000hp drag monster!” 🙄. Anyway, appreciate the content. Been going through all your stuff trying to learn what I can. Not trying to be a mechanic just a good 6.0 owner that doesn’t piss his mechanic off like this guy 😂
I bought a whole house water filter and plumbed it into my heater hoses. Ran straight white vinegar in the system for 300 miles miles before I changed my oil cooler.
Sadly, Ford has now outsourced their OEM oil coolers to Dorman. Just bought one from a dealer and it is made in China. Lots of data about this in the forums. I ran it on my new engine build (2003), but as soon as my numbers start going adrift, which they are fine now, I will be going to an external cooler.
Hello, great videos, very helpful. I have a question, just put new KDD on ring heads, oil cooler, injectors, KC turbo, blue spring kit, arp studs, glow plugs and harnesses...pretty much everything and my truck is throwing out some white smoke, what's causing this? I've not driven it, I'm a little worried I could screw something up. Any suggestions?
Where you getting your new oilcoolers from in fl. Ford dealer has the new Chinese made dorman looks like crap, But love your videos long time subscriber Grate job,,👍
No, it was beside the fact. I knew he wouldn’t do anything about it if it was. Just trying to keep it running for him. He’d park it before he sank that kinda money in it. That’s why he hasn’t fixed the bed plate leak either.
Does a 6.0 need studs if you’re not running a tune. I’m looking at add a BulletProof egr cooler, remote oil cooler, water pump with7.3 f/c, radiator and FICM. It’s a 05 F450 4x4 dually that I’ll be using to tow my trailer.
Should only have to remove the starter once to break the passenger side block plug loose. You can get to it for multiple flush and drain cycles without removing the starter with a ball end Allen key. A little thread sealant and an extra turn with a pair of pliers after the last flush, still no problems.
When my son and I did my blue spring upgrade I think we stripped the threads on the bolt that is bottom left where the cover goes. besides replacing the whole oil/fuel bowl what is the next best fix?
Well I guess I don't feel so bad about the oily mess under my 06. Do they all leak, seep oil? Only clean one I've seen was a fresh rebuild going in a truck.
The neglected trucks leak. Trucks like my own which have the maintenance kept up on them don’t leak much. The big problem is when the bed plate leaks cause you gotta pull the motor and get it on a stand to replace it.
I just got done watching a few of your vids, I got a 6.0 07 but it's a split yr so it's like a 06 on a lot of the parts. It's my 1st diesel and I have a lot of ??? about it cause it's not happy when it gets cold outside at all.. I'm a few hrs away form you would like to come by and have a talk about it if possible...
36:58 does the compression sound fairly even? it sounds fairly good to me, but maybe a little uneven? Maybe one or two cylinders with lower compression?
1. How much oil do you put in the valley before installing the new cooler and 2. Is the IPR coolant filter worth it or are spin-on types better. Thanks. In the process of flushing mine now with restore/ restore plus.
It’s probably around 1.5 quarts. Just don’t overfill cause you’ll push out and waste your new oil when the cooler goes down in there. I think the IPR is worth it however get what you can afford either is better than nothing
The FICM body itself does not create a ground. There is a ground in the FICM/injector harness that gets its ground through the rear most drivers side intake bolt.
02:55 I guess you technically can't hurt the 6.0 by running them dry on engine oil like most vehicles can....The 6.0 will just shut down due to not enough oil to keep the injectors firing..
I have a f 350 6.0, 04 harley davidson edition. When the truck runs on the road, it start to shake to the rear- axle. I put a New tires but the problem continúes. What can be??
@@AutomedicGarage what would you recommend? My truck has that IPR research external system with the billet oil filter assembly with hoses. Have you heard of that System
What are the PIDS while cranking? How long did you crank after oil cooler? There is air on in the system and will take some cranking. What’s icp, ipr, FICM main and sync and fuel pressure while cranking? Was it a OEM IPR?
BAD IPR. REPLACED IT AND FIRED RIGHT UP. DROVE IT FOR A MONTH AND BLEW OIL EVERYWHERE AND LOST INJECTION PRESSURE AND DIED. HAD IT TOWED HOME NOW TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHERE THE OIL IS COMING FROM.
It’s the ultimate fix in never having oil cooler problems again but the factory coolers work fine if you thoroughly flush the system, use elc coolant, coolant filtration and and quality oil other that 15-40w conventional.
@@AutomedicGarage thank you for getting back to me. I was worried about that the truck needs an oil cooler running 190 coolant and 208 oil. At 70-75mph on 35s unloaded no wind 😂. But it’s all stock still stock head bolts with new heads befor I bought the truck and stock egr cooler and oil cooler with 217k on the truck.

I bought a whole house water filter and plumbed it into my heater hoses. Ran straight white vinegar in the system for 300 miles miles before I changed my oil cooler.
Good stuff. Amazing how complex all that is. So what was the actual problem? Engine fan letting engine get hot and overfow coolant?

Did you do a cylinder contribution test on it? It sounded like there was a low compressiom cylinder when you were cranking it up after the work.

I’m ok with no studs if you don’t have a current problem with head gaskets and you don’t plan on a tune or more boost getting thrown at it

You could try retapping 1 size bigger and maybe have to drill the hole larger in the cover also. Replacing the whole thing really isn’t bad.
