Accidentally leaving those black plastic temporary plugs in the intake you will never forget. 😩 Considering the owner bought a non-running truck at auction, he got very lucky. Bad oil cooler, bad fuel pump, bad fuel tank, bad fan clutch, bad coolant, bad oil and oil filter, yet a sound engine. That is a miracle! You brought this ugly truck back from the dead. Congratulations. You are a pro with 6.0’s.
Almost bought an 05 last week with a blown head gasket, 170k miles left for dead in a yard for the past 2 years. The inside of the truck looked just like this one with parts everywhere. After watching this video I’m glad I didn’t mess with it.
I had a hot no start repair once. Took them 11 hours billed to find the leak. The hpop gasket had a leak. After seeing some of your vids i think it should've been found quicker than that.
one of my favorite sayings back when I was a working stiff, do it right the first time, because you will ALWAYS have the time to do it TWICE. got a good chuckle out of you revealing that the "experts" do sometimes overlook things during reassembly.
I threw those damn plastic caps away right after I shot that. They were greasy and blended right in. I was pissed with myself. I take pride in doing it right and that really got me that day. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@AutomedicGarage Makes sense. I’ve heard that you can still get the better old style cooler/gaskets from International. I guess a positive about the new cooler is that the size is the same but the internal passages are larger. Might help with clogging
Always my favorite type of customer, complain about everything that NEEDS to be done with the truck to get it running. If you cant afford a truck of this type that requires upkeep, then why even put your hat in the ring?

This is fun to me finding the problems and fixing them. It’s why I used to love being a paramedic, figuring out what’s wrong and fixing it quickly until society changed so much and ruined EMS.
Bought mine on an auction, 2 tires 2 batteries and drove it home. Put some $$ into it, parts from Bullet Proof and Sinister. great truck, Got a wicked tune. Lets say less than $3,000 to get it out of the gate. It's all dependent on your understanding and dedication. And wallet LOL Evil Bay & the jungle website are OK for lights and seatcovers. Not engine parts!
I am detailing up my 2005 Power Stroke after I got it back from being stolen, its in nice shape, so watching this makes me feel good about my rig! nice process to get it going, I learned a few things!

My son bought himself a 2006 6.0 that was mostly well cared for. I’ve been using your tutorials for tech reference while we make it more reliable for him. He’s just started a welding career and is on the road a lot. It’s a constant battle reminding him that his truck is another tool for him to make his living with and not a play toy. Of course he’s 20 and wants a bigger turbo, bigger injectors and all the power tunes. I’m happy that he’s so far met me in the middle since I provide the shop space and equipment. Anyways, I figure I can at least help him get the best balance between power and reliability. Right now he’s towing a small bumper pull rv with his job box in the bed. At some point I’m sure he’s gonna want a fifth wheel toy hauler. I have a feeling most of your subscribers are also fairly descent 6.0 shade tree mechs. Reaching out for any and all advice for achieving that power/reliability balance. So far the echo golf romeo cooler has been welded, cooling system thoroughly flushed and filled with cat ec-1 elc, coolant bypass filter, replaced plastic cold side pipe, replaced leaky icp, replaced ipr screen, fpr blue spring kit, Motorcraft 10w-30, all filters (oil, fuel, trans) replaced with Motorcraft filters, and removed all exhaust restrictions. The next job will be replacing the hpop stc fitting with the upgrade and resealing the well. I think this is where the oil seepage is coming from. I know this is excessive for a comment, just seems like most of the forums are full of smart asses with nothing meaningful to offer. Thanks!

Damn trucks a pain mine died on me crack no start changed icp ipr driver side dummy/stand look fine replaced enways same thing ipr jumps to 1300 and falls fast sync good volts good po 2623 and advance would be much appreciated boss! I’m lot.. first diesel lol
I’m assuming you meant icp jumps to 1300. Need to know all the PIDS when cranking. ICP, IPR, FICM main, FICM sync, ICP volts, and fuel pressure via manual fuel pressure test gauge.

What diagnostic software is running on the laptop at the beginning of the video? We've talked on the phone before I owned the Classic diesel Mercedes shop and I'm going to start also doing powerstroke 7.3's and I would love to have that same diagnostic software.

By the way remember when I called the other weekend and we suspected an exhaust back pressure valve was stuck? I built a boost leak tester and it ended up being leaks from just about every CAC boot. Replaced all the boots and good to go.
@AutomedicGarage bought a nexiq usb link 3. Would that work with the software? Bought for semi trucks, but got a dead 2006 f350 powerstroke that needs to be diagnosed.
Cp4 pump doesn’t always but can destroy itself ruining the entire fuel system. At the least get a S&S Diesel disaster prevention kit or swap over to the DCR pump and never worry about it again.

Hey man I need some help… I’ve put all kinds of money in my 6.0. I’ve put a new hpop, new injectors, IPR, ICP, EBP, Map sensor and I dropped the tank and put a new pickup tube on. It’s still got a miss to it and it’s mainly off a cold start but after it warms up it runs fine unless you stop at a stop sign or red light and then it goes back to a lope I just put a used ficm on it tonight and it acted a little different and would run normal then go back to a lope. Sometimes after switching gears it will shake and act like it wants to die. I’m running out of ideas and I need it fixed ASAP so I can get to work

When 6.0 have HPOP ,,air leak,, when ALL O rings on the injectors replaced, HPOP is replaced, ,,G,, pipe is replaced, nipple cups O rings replaced, stand pipes and dummy plugs replaced..and still no start..! Base oil pressure is good, butterys are good...any idea what else can ,,leak,,? Oh..and base oil valve is not stock.
@@mikeches7992 not sure what a G pipe is or if your referring to J tube. What brand hpop, J tube, stand pipes, dummy plugs and orings? Where are you hearing the air leak? Are your air testing through ipr or icp? What are you building on icp? What is ipr at during cranking? Lot of stuff that matters on thinking through the problem.

I know Ford has updated the oil cooler and some people are saying the gaskets seem cheap with the updated one. What’s your thoughts on it?

Ford should have put a coolant filter on all their diesel trucks starting with the 6.9 idi.
Ford should have done a lot of things better to make it a good engine but hat to spend 10000 on it they failed miserably

Yep, I only use motorcraft, warren diesel or bullet proof diesel parts on these.

Autoenginuity, it’s been great but my only complaint is the power balance feature sucks on it. I have the enhanced Ford, Chrysler and GM package

10k it’s good for f350 duallys just can’t lift the service body trucks
Where do you get a scan tool and equipment like that at?
I bought my tough book from somewhere on line. The software came from riffraff diesel. It autoenginuity with enhanced ford program.

Whats up with the 6.7 fuel system? We have a 2016 6.7 with 95,000 miles. Runs like a clock since new with 16 miles.

Sounds like you got low fuel pressure/starving for fuel. Check your fuel pressure.
