Thanks so much for sharing this info. I had zero oil pressure. Crank/no start. Retrieved small piece metal from release valve. Cleaned it put it back in crank right up. I'm not a diesel mechanic I'm just a 6.0 enthusiast. 2007 f250 287,000 mi. Had it for 10 years. Deleted not bulletproofed. All Ford parts and filters. Shell rotella T6 oil and rotella ELC. I took my 2007 6.0 to the dealership they try to charge me $1000 to just open up the engine to see what’s wrong with it. I took it back from them followed your steps, and a few others and my truck started right up… 💯💪🏾🔥💯
The metal had to come from somewhere. I would be very suspect of a lifter having failed/starting to fail. They are notorious for the roller bearings failing, sending metal into the low pressure oil pump and causing havoc. Good work. Down the road I would be pulling that front cover to check the LPOP when feasible.
I agree the metal came from somewhere and wasn’t put there by international. Not my truck not up to me. Truck is a abused tree truck. I do what I can but at the end of the day I can only recommend things. Doubt it’s a lifter roller, if it was the pump is usually done after that goes through it.
My 03 is giving me plenty of fits this year. Guess she’s getting tired. Crank no start today. Had the hpop replaced about 2 months ago. Video looks very similar to my current issue. Hopefully my fix is as easy I’d sell this sucker if I could ha!
I have an issues with 1999 F350 7.3 not wanting to start. When first cranking truck up in the morning there is a clicking noise. Sounds like its coming from the fuse panel under steering column inside truck. After three or four times cranking truck over click goes away and it will start. After that point its starts any time, but once it sits overnight same issues in the morning, seems to be getting worse. Any help would be greatly be appreciated. Your videos are awesome by the way!!!
I’m trying to figure out long crank to start no mater cold or hot and it runs bad surges trying to go 50mph but not all the time. I was going to buy one of them scan tools for forscan you showed in one of your videos but can’t buy now it say
Does dash oil gauge move at all when koeo? Should it move while cranking? Work when running. I'll get a cold engine long start series from time to time. No matter the season. Got a few glow plug codes. No issues on a warmed up motor
@@reeaub dash oil gauge is not always a go to to tell if you have a lpo problem. It starts reading at 7psi but battery voltage comes into play because weak batteries with low voltage will drop out the gauges and make you think lpo when it’s just voltage. If your truck cranks fine when warm out but not cold I would look glow plugs
my 2005 f250 6.0 died going down the road spit and sputtered first. Pulled it off the highway it cranked up was knocking and pinging and white smoking like crazy cut it off then turned it over one more time make like a single thud and then wouldnt even turn over any suggestions?
@@danielstutts1939 sounds like a stuck injector or cracked injector tip. Pull the glow plugs and see if it turns over and see if you shoot diesel fuel out of one of them.

I lost pressure on my guage today, truck stalled and is a crank no start. I pulled the tube off the top of the turbo and had oil there, so I should have base oil. Thinking ipr or icp?
@@AutomedicGarage A recent bulletproofed 6.0, I repaired, had the original oil filter housing with the guts removed and plugs where the oil would come and go from the housing. That is why I’m asking.
If it builds on the cluster gauge after several attempts and drops seconds after cranking stops you have a leak elsewhere....cluster gauge should not be relied on. Live data scan it.
I would like your input if i could get it. i have a 2003 6.0 the Lpop blew up and broke the front cover, i replaced both the cover and the lpop and im still not getting any oil in the filter housing
@@AutomedicGarage That sticking grease in them to prime the pump is not a good idea and it even says so on the box. Even back 40 yrs ago on IH DT436 and DT466's we just used engine oil to prime them.
Have you had issues with Ford OEM Standpipe failures? I am on the second high pressure oil leak in 6,000 mi. Now hot start issue is Intermittent and hard for shop to diagnose. 2005 6.0 one owner. Have read others have similar failures. Great Channel Thank You!
I’ve never had any come back after I’ve installed oem ford. Not saying I’ve done anything special but I do throughly grease the orings up and torque to 60 ft lbs. most failures I’ve seen are on older oem that are original or the non updated or aftermarket’s such as dorman.
Did you ever find the fix on the hot no start? I've replaced stand pipes, oils rails, ipc/ipr/crankshaft sensors. I've gone through 3 ipc sensors and still getting the 2285 code as well. Oem as well
@@kevinlee4935 this was a crank no start I fixed it. I don’t believe I’ve had a video on a crank no start or crank no start hot that I didn’t fix. Matter of fact I’ve never had one at all I didn’t fix.
@@Powerstroke431I do the same thing on all my trucks and bikes! Thankfully, not much other than a tiny bit of fine metal comes out when I change the oil, but it sure is cheap insurance!
A tipped to anybody, I have found parts much cheaper online than going to the auto parts store where they mark it up so high specially when it comes to the Diesel good luck take care
You press the drain back valve down to make sure it’s intact and holding, also let’s you evaluate if the oil filter housing is filling in a reasonable amount of time to assess if the LPOP is doing it’s job. Extension is just the easiest way to push it down.

@@richardalexander339 why pull the turbo tube? Take oil filter out and hold your drain back valve down and see if it fills when cranking over.

The same way. It doesn’t change anything about what I did. Bulletproofing(which is a generic term)doesn’t change anything about diagnosing.

Was the gauge in the cluster reading normal oil pressure before pulling the relief valve.
@@jkemmis100 it takes 7 psi for the gauge to register on the dash so no it wasn’t reading, you literally have zero lpo if your relief valve is stuck

I have a 2007 that will start up cold but when it gets hot she doesnt like too startbi replaced the icp any other ideas?

Why do you place an extension in the low pressure oil drain ? Is it necessary or can you do without ?
You press the drain back valve down to make sure it’s intact and holding, also let’s you evaluate if the oil filter housing is filling in a reasonable amount of time to assess if the LPOP is doing it’s job. Extension is just the easiest way to push it down.

It boggles the mind that Ford didn't just put a real oil pressure sending unit/gauge in. I hate not knowing what my LP oil pressure is.
It’s on the dash. That’s what you oil pressure on the dash is reading LPO. It has to see at least 7psi to register.
