After seeing the mind-blowing VW Beetle Roadster project built by Memminger VW, we decided it was time to visit their head quarters, see what they are all about and capture the roadster in the metal.

Our Journey started back in 2006, where we travelled the world in search for the best custom cars to be featured in numerous car magazine. After the decline of printed magazine, we had the idea to create our own digital magazine. We started with Facebook as a platform to curate some of the world’s most incredible builds and then we unleashed our very own digital magazine called SuperFly.
The aim was to create more indepth stories of the cars we photograph around the world and create a monthly digital magazine. It would embrace not only the car and the owners story, but we would bring forth the lifestyles within the culture and feature inspiring car builders/owners from the likes of Jay Leno, Breal of Cypress Hill, Ralph at RMD Garage, to the guy or gal in their garage building a SuperFly project.

This is a little off topic, but this is a beautiful form of recycling. Imagine a world where most cars were treated to full updated technology instead of going to the crusher. I personally own a discontinued Avalanche and it's more environmentally responsible to maintain it and continually update it with new, improved parts and technology than to scrap it for the carbon footprint of a new truck. Imagine if everyone did this. Imagine auto manufacturers building our cars to last without turning into total rust buckets. Why should we as responsible human inhabitants of this beautiful planet need to go through vehicles like tissue paper? It's something to dream about.
Capitalisme has no time for that.

Well said. I'm a fan of EV's, and enviromentalism, but I stay rolling in my 69 bug when my peeps paying crazy money for a newTesla and just adding to the waste heap of cars .. (becaause, face it, not many of these modern cars will be classics ... just look at them!). I'll never go that direction.

Capitalism in it's truest form allows you to create anything and everything you want and sell what you do not need or buy what you don't want to or can't make yourself. We haven't seen true capitalism in at least 100 years considering we aren't allowed to make or create that much ourselves anymore and need permits, licences, contracts and other agreements before we can lift a finger. It's called corporate greed 👍

About that roadster, I hope they don't go the 'exclusive' way. They could go into production and have a whole new revenue stream.
Italy crushed ALL old cars, nothing left except ones that were smuggled out to france or germany. So sad, really 😢

That roadster looks like it'd be a *GREAT* candidate for a rear-mid engine, aluminum chassis from Stealthbeetle. Then put an Audi 4.2 twin turbo V8, like the Stealthbeetles have! The rear seat is already deleted, so you're halfway there. Lol
The grey one is the most beautiful Beetle which I've ever seen. It looks like a modern roadster.

The roadster is the best styling development of a VW Beetle I have ever seen. That body style with 4 seats and a convertible roof would be brilliant. And also as a hard top with sun roof all weather sports sedan. Manufacturers make the mistake of thinking everybody wants a low slung racing car. I want a compact stylish car where I can sit up high and see the road, with low window sills where I can rest my arm, even though that may be illegal. A great shopping car, touring car and sports car. I remember my Volkswagens for their reliability and serviceability. The problem with Volkswagens was they always a bit too expensive compared to Toyota and Nissan. 20 individually made Memminger VW specials will not be cheap. They look more practical and user friendly than a Porsche or a muscle car. A car for older gentlemen and beautiful ladies as well as the sports car set.
When I first saw the roadster I thought it could be built on a Boxster chassis.
the Golf Mk2 with the high body is a normal production car called "Golf Country"

Thomas Lee Mullins ... Kahrmann Giha is an independent company and is based in Osnabrück (Lower Saxony Germany). However, I believe that the company no longer exists as far as I am informed
I am referring to the car that Kharmann Ghia made using the Beetle platform. If there are some old ones around, perhaps they could give it the same treatment as the old Beetles?

That Volkswagen beetle roadster is sitting on a Porsche chassis, if you put a 911 beside the beetle you will see.... still a very nice good looking car.😁👍

I was born in 1949 and have been a petrol head all my life. But I never saw the attraction of Beetles.
And there has not been much revision since.
Except for the quality of the paint finish which was always superior.
I am still not an enthusiast for Volkswagens.

Dieser Roadster ist zweifellos der schönste, den ich bisher gesehen habe, und es ist schade, dass einige Träume nicht verwirklicht werden können. hier in Brasilien habe ich so etwas noch nicht gesehen.
Der ist auch in Deutschland nicht in Produktion. Memminger hat einen (nicht fahrenden) Prototyp, das ist der den du hier siehst.

good lord those subtitles are absolute rubbish and don’t make any sense. moreover they don’t even mean what is actually being said
the roadster they designed is awesome. if only it was possible to buy one. but the number built is limited therefore not many were made
No roadster has been built so far by Memminger as the one you are looking at was and still is a concept. We have tried to overwrite the subtitles several times but YTs AI insists it is right and we are wrong and does not save our overwrite. My wife's first language is German so there should be no reason for the AI to through such a strop, but here we are.
those German guys must have installed a top notch dust filter machinery in their building.....no way you can have somebody polish all these cars on an every day basis you end up damaging the colours of course the floor must be mopped daily

@@kampfmeersau I'm at the doors of my 40th birthday, a lifetime of german autocar appreciation and a collection of 17 german cars and this video is the first i've ever heard of them, they must not be interested in the international market, not be interested in international sales or have a very lazy marketing dept. The quality of their work is amazing, I'm shocked at discovering them now and by a random youtube algorythm

Please , the next time take a native german to give you some help with the subtitles. When you understand german and at the same time read the subtitles it looks like an Eskimo translating swaheli.
We noticed after that the translation didn't do that of a great job and indeed its something to work towards.

Not true. All of those cars can be imported to the USA because smog and other safety laws don't apply to cars more than 25 years old.

Not true...If they've got the original(older than 25 years) VIN Plates on them, you can buy and import today.
Why not bring a car with US plates to Germany and have them perform their magic after which you can bring it back into the US with its original pink slip?

It's a model they have been building and they were meant to released a limited number of them. Not sure where they are at with them at the moment though.

Isso não está em produção, nunca esteve. Foi Memminger quem desenvolveu este. É o único que existe e não tinha motor no momento em que visitamos.
The roadster is very nice from the front bumper to just behind the seats. The rear is somewhat to long and fat Imho. I think the hoop style rool bar cowlings could be slimmed down. I'm not sure what type of powerplant they are running, but the engine bay could be shorter to balance out the car. I understand that its probably near the exact footprint of an original Bug, but somehow the 2 seater seems strangely preportioned. Looking at the car straight on from the front, and then the back gives an impression of two different cars, other than the paint. I'd like to seat a short wheel base version of this concept.
Dont get upset, it's just an opinion, some people love a Lamborghini Countach and some of us prefer the Miura. At the race track and the drag strip, it's a completely different set of circumstances.
Great observation to improve the styling. Once we can travel again, we will go see them and see how it is progressing along and hopefully it will be driveable :)

The bloke is calling them "classic" They are mostly post 1970 bugs. That's when they had Mcpherson strut suspension. The "CLASSIC" VW had torsion bar suspension. ha ha ha
If the cars as are older than 30 years, than in Germany the are called "Oldtimers" often referred to as Classics and enjoy preferred taxation & insurances

85084 Reichertshofen, Bavaria, 70 km north of Munich on the A9. impressive. I really enjoyed the video and the factory website, what I am still trying to work out is .. how does it make enough money? government grants, sponsorship? That's a big site and must soak up money like it's going out of fashion, Germany is a very expensive place to live and taxation is high.
No idea exactly how they do it.
