Tell me it’s called a Volts Wagon.
It sure is 👍
It'll always be the Hitlermobile.
👏👏
NIcely done Sir
@@kdrapertrucker any bad?
It isn't just a performance car, it is so well made and converted, every allen screw and fitting looks amazing... wow!
Thanks 🙏🏻
holy crap, that is one impressive build. the quality and attention to detail is insane.
Sure is 👍
Agreed
VW should BRING BACK THIS MODEL in Electric version - would be a HUGE seller.
Agree. VW could have millions of old school beatles on the road if they had built an electric version.
Exactly, I would love to own something like this to drive around.
They are in the bus it will totally out sell a bug vans are a huge hit family's and outdoors there gonna kill ot
O yes please a baja package available for it
I wish they would at least sell conversion kits 😭
This bloke " Moggy" is an absolute Genius 👌👌👌👌 Simple As 👌👌👌
Yep 👍
*RightON!* THAT *vehicle* IS *pure* ..'Hurriganes - *Get* *On* (1974)' .. ruclips.net/video/2z1x6QfHUFw/видео.html .. Just Like *THAT* vehicle. I *..Think* (youtoo..;))
Sweet ride!
It's actually Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden!
My dad used to tell me..."You know you're getting older when you make the same sounds sitting down, as you do standing up." Now at 62, I understand what he was talking about! Fantastic build!
LOL 😂
Sage words indeed 👏👏👏
Yeah, i hurt my shoulder just answering the phone...
That is the kind of electric car that could convert me from big petrol engines.
Lovely car, great video Ped thanks.
It could convert quite a few 😂
Tesla engines have amazing performance. The downside is that price. An electric engine swap will run you well over $30,000.
@@Binkusbigday I had a 'race' up & down a couple of dual carriageway stretches a few months ago, with a Tesla Model 3 dual motor.
There was literally no difference in performance between that, and my remapped M140i (411bhp/576nm), I was very impressed.
The only bad thing, after 15 mins of racing, he turned round and headed back the way he came from, because his battery was obviously flat LOL !
Not me
Dont be silly
Best part of the video was seeing the friendship. Just a pair of o’l mates
Yep 👍
No.
The only thing that car needs is a high definition camera pointing back to capture the look on the face of his rivals after he destroys them with a bug. 🤣
LOL 😂
You'll see the longest face in the entire carhistory .
A "Shocked Face Cam" (TM) :D
Back in 1970, I had a 1960 model Beetle and when I moved up to a newer model, I converted the older car to electric. My father-in-law was an electric motor re-winder and builder, so he built a motor for it, and I put truck batteries in place of the back seat. I kept the original gearbox so I could select speed better. There was no sophistication to the car like the one in this video though, basically it was still an old Beetle.
My Golf R may as well be a power wheels car compared to that. I don’t say this flippantly...I believe this is the most beautiful and most amazing beetle restomod I have seen to date.
👍

Two things you have to train yourself not to do anymore. Push the clutch in and start the engine. What a fabulous job done on this car!! Thanks for sharing the footage!!
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
That's a thing of beauty. The Beetle was always my dream car, from the time I was a little kid. This man has made it my dream car, now that I'm an adult.
👍
Sleeping monster. Love it. Decades ago I had a 70 camper bus with a motocross engine. One day on the main one way street in town I noticed a Porsche weaving through traffic coming up behind me. At a traffic light he was just in front of me. Light changed and he took off. But I was glued to his back bumper, up to the speed limit. The image in his rear view mirror was my spare tire on the front of my bus. I always joked that his next stop should be to the dealer to turn it in.
This guy is simply Brilliant!!! I used to own a 68' Beetle in the States from 1980 to 1985. I would have loved to have had this technology back in the day at a stop light. That would have really embarrassed a whole lot of America muscle cars. You have a new sub mate! Cheers!
Amazing. Welcome to the channel. If you liked the Beetle you’re gonna love this 👍
ruclips.net/video/3b3o_IGAYlU/видео.html
@@PetrolPed Thanks Mate!
There are plenty of fast bugs with regular vw engines, just built bigger with turbos. 300hp in a bug will be like 600 in a Camaro.
I’ve never wanted a Beetle, right up until I watched this video!
LOL 😂
As a child in the 1960s our pastor had a Beetle, always filled with people and responsibly driven. In my late teens a newly licenced friend allowed me to drive his 1200 Beetle. Such fun through round-a-bouts and corners but we weren't friends again after my drive finished. I didn't speed either! Can only imagine the fun this would allow for here on empty Tasmanian roads.
I just love it..... And your friend, the way how he talks about his car. OMG. Supercars and hypercars owners could Lear a thing or two from him. The passion and love can be felt from every single word... There was a bit when you drove when you were giving a praise (right so) when his eyes just twinkle... 👍
He is a genius...simple as 👍
Having driven Aircooled VW's all my life, you would understand that I don't like engine swapped cars, but this is absolutely amazing!
The amount of hidden technology is epic. The best of all is that the car is still Aircooled...lol
Genius!!!
Yep 👍
Air-cooled, but no more heater!
@@dhy5342 So no more exhaust leaks in the cabin! 😆
I love it! I never was a fan of the later models. I prefer the 63 and earlier. But honestly this is something I would love to own! Very nice work! 👌🏼
The first car i drove with myself was the beatle of my brother. I was 15 and he just asked me, if i wanted to drive. And we drove 10 Km on the german Autobahn A48. That was impressive.
Extremely impressive, but you just can't appreciate the acceleration in the video, probably the lack of noise. Oh, and the 0 - 60, three, two, one, go ......advert :-( Simply incredible and so well done.
When I was in HS, i ran into a guy who put a Chevy 350 V8 in a little Chevette. As I was checking it out, I noticed bars in the back and asked if he had put the roll bars in himself. He told me that they were not roll bars, that they were to strengthen the unibody frame, keep it from twisting. The big V8 had so much torque that it would cause the back side glass to pop out when he got on it! Nice video, brought back some memories.
LOL 😂
extra kudos for salvaging a complete write-off (rather than hacking a perfectly useable one)
👍
hacking up all Volkswagens is enjoyable thats all they are good for get rid of the junk.
What a project! Wow! I am higly impressed. I am myself a certified car engineer and in our young days we built 911 engines into the beetle an put them on the race tracks. But this here is MUCH better! I am myself driving a Model S for 7 years now.
I must say, as coming from driving classic GTOs and other hot rods in my life! I have a deep appreciation for guys who are enthusiastic and passionate as Moog here. Moog is just the type of guy I’d buy some beers, or sofas for as I don’t drink, and just feed off his sense of humour and razor sharp wit.
Such a great video, and a heart felt thank you for quite possibly converting me to electric performance cars and kits.
Cheers to you Pete and Moog, from America...
Deaf Gryphon
Glad you enjoyed it mate 👍
Hands down...the coolest Beetle I have ever seen!!!!!
👍
I have to agree, in New Zealand going back a few years there was one powered by a 454 Chev.
He was running about the same horsepower but I think it would have been way heavier.
I can't remember many details but I imagine it would have been space frame with a VW body so not a real VW.
I never thought I would see one I would consider better. Until now. :-)
@@noidontthinksolol That thing weren't no LS small block, it was a cast iron big block from the 70s... bud.
That guy is a genius what a total legend
👏👏👏
This is the future!
I’d need to install some hifi system so we have a bit of a classic exhaust burble...
Moggy is a LEGEND ...pure genius...amazing car
Yep 👍
I took photos of this car and his other cars at Fully Charged Live 2019. Nice to see it being improved!
Me: Steps out into garage, looks at '70 beetle with a MOFOCO 1776 & dual Weber 40 IDFs, scratches head, goes back inside the house and watches T.V.
I am old school and just can't get excited about electric cars driving one maybe but to watch will never be as spectacular
Why did you watch the video?
True. EVs are as exciting to watch as watching paint dry.
Qr I ng
I drive through Newtown regularly, thanks for sharing this as I'll know I'm not hallucinating when I see this insane beetle flash past.
It sure is insane 😂
Being a VW enthusiast, I love this very informative video featuring two passionate guys. I would cringe though, everytime Petrol Ped would take his eyes off the road while driving to speak to Moggy.
Glad you enjoyed the video and the car. I’ve been filming g in cars for 5 years now. It is a skill you learn and as an Advanced Driver I can assure you I do it safely 👍
you've done it again mate. This hyper beetle and his camper are 100% mind blowing fun. Moggy is a character to say the least. Vintage Voltage is a wonderful show and one of the better shows on the tele now a days. Keep up the good work.
Thanks James. Glad you are enjoying VV 👍
@16:39 I can relate to the 'when you getting to be old men, you have to make noises when you get into your car'. This was hilarious and caught me off guard while I was eating. haha!
Thank goodness for mad Welshmen with heavy feet, passion for the almost unreachable, and the unrelenting focus for raising the bar. Well done: an inspiration!
I love a 1303 Beetle. My first 2 cars were Beetles and my first 4 cars were all air cooled VW's. I always lusted after a German Beetle I saw once with a 911 engine but this is just in a different class.
Cool 👍
Nice.
I recall my first time in a turbo charged car, and those that followed as a passenger in mine ranging from 200-300bhp.
Reckon it would be a similar experience sitting in a modified EV classic.
I have yet to experience an electric vehicle, scooter, skateboard or bike yet.
Want some excitement back in my life, the electric era is upon us.
Thanks for sharing
The only thing missing is two very amplified speakers coordinated with the depression of the pedal that mimic the sound of the 45 h.p engine that was in the car back in the day. Then people will really be impressed.
I'm not too sure about that. There's just something about the lack of sound that makes it look so effortless and furthermore ridiculous. Imagine being overtaken by an old car that's making next to no sound. I'd think I just saw a ghost! It adds to the whole mystery haha
@@Gozi101 "Sleepers" are always the way to go. Why almost every performance car or bike must be loud has always frustrated me and my ears. Exhausts can be efficient and quite, just fit a turbo or better still, a 450kW Tesla whilst keeping a pretend exhaust pipe of the original!
@@davidlilja9180 it’s not how loud, it’s the rumble of a classic v8, or the unique sound of the air cooled boxer...
@@petermcgill1315 ...or the perfection of an in-line 6's burble from split headers through dual pipes, only beaten by a V-12's mechanical perfection. Peter, is there a better rumble than the Spitfire, Hurricane, Mosquito or Lancaster's Merlin gives? Those sounds had a purpose though!
Any I.C.E. can be loud, my GSX250 could be heard for 2kms away when the muffler holed out but when the sound of an FA-18A launching from 'sitting stationary on it's tail thrust' to rise vertically above Adelaide to disappear into the blue sky sounds better than the whole F1 grid through earbuds, somethings wrong. All the support categories sounded better, not 'just' like money being burnt, very quickly. If you're not racing then give the engine some back-pressure so it can breathe without paining the listeners ears, perhaps a pair of turbos or 'turbo' mufflers? Might even save some fuel and some of the planet. Why so many still think everyone else needs to hear their obsession I can only guess it's related to selfishness (or youth/rebellion) somehow.
The sound of a draft-horse emptying it's bowels onto the street was probably once upon a time considered a good sound, by some. It was probably only the T-Rex that considered the sound of it's own teeth crunching through flesh and bone a good thing too.
@@davidlilja9180 I tried to hang in there, but the horse imagery lost me.
Great job! You can never kill the 🪲! With this, more discarded beetles could be born again.
OMG, great car and I liked the humor. I bought my Ghia when the world was in black and white. Wow!
Cheers Tedd 👍
Very cool! I had a roommate in college years ago who drove a VW Beetle. So what you say? Well, he was 6’10” (2.08 meters) tall! The gear shifter ended up UNDER his knee. It was hilarious to watch people’s reactions when he stepped out of the car.
Blimey 😳
Weird watching people drive on the wrong side of the road! Awesome conversion!
Yeah! It was weird. I could never drive there.
I have driven but one electric car and it was a Nissan Leaf, and I could see myself owning one. I used to have parking lot charging where I worked, plentiful, but now, less. Charge at home and charge at work, it was a no brainer.
Someone needs to take one of those fiberglass 356s, and do this conversion! How awesome would that be?
I had a silver 1969 beetle and this video had me smiling from the start. the work done to this car is amazing. he in south Africa we dont even get Tesla's but this car is really amazing. i used to have a bag of sand in the front as well.
Vintage Voltage has been the best thing on TV in years. Despite your best efforts.
Only kidding, you were great in it. 😛
And who doesn't love Moggy.
Thanks for another incredible video. A*
LOL...thanks 😂
Moggy.... u r the shizzle. Ur bug is off the hook!!! I still have my '74 parked at the side of the house. I was honored to drive a Model 3 owned by my lecturer. It was like "shit ur pants fast!! " I don't know how much power she's pushing now. 1645cc; Single 40s Webber; Engel 1/2 race cam; 13.2 lbs fly wheel; Rhyno gearbox; 4 wheel disk vented rotors with Jetta calipers. Haven't driven her in bout 4 yrs. I really love that electric conversions but the TESLA stuff are out of my reach for now.
Moggy ....like seriously... EXCELENT JOB!!!!
Cheers Nigel 👍
Now that's some beetle juice !
My dream car, never seen Voltage Vintage but now, I have it in favourites
Awesome 👏
Absolutely brilliant, if you were in Sydney my beetle would be in your garage for an electric conversion tomorrow.
Stick it on a boat. You know you want to 😂
They don’t do this in oz...do they?....I think there’s rules that stop this.
@@andgate2000 I haven’t checked the motor registry or motor transport department in NSW to see if it’s legal in this state, but it’s definitely the way to go. There is some young guy doing dodgy/rough conversions in Queensland. So it must be legal there.
The first time i drove an old beetle(73 i think it was) it felt like driving a big cardboard box with wheels, after driving it for awhile it was fun.
I'll give Moggy a feather and he would give me that car and we both would be tickled!!!
Every car enthusiast needs a friend like Moggy!!!
Wether the motor being used is subaru wrx,sn elecric Tesla or a rotary engine coupled with a turbo i love to see how these small cars perform after serious modification.Great job guys keep up the work you'll have being doing
MOGG RULES! Wicked good episode, absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Loved all the info, Mogg made it very understandable, easily digestible, and damn funny to boot. Cheers to the most understated and badass Beetle on the Welsh roads, may jaws continue to drop forevermore!
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
I love L bugs, 74 was a great year, the 1916 I had with my twin 44 webbers really was fun, I would love to drive this. Great video brought back many good memories
The relationship with your friend is cordial.
This is a "Wow!" on so many points, from design, to mechanics, to optics. I especially liked the integration of carbon fibre; it just seems so natural.
I'll bet the lads in Wolfsburg are envious....... 👍
I LOVE IT WHAT A GREAT SLEEPER now to have one paint as HERBIE ....
Geez! I would love to see the looks on the faces of some guys with their big engined cars with turbos or superchargers. A real eye opener.😳👀😮🤭
What an awesome Beetle. The ultimate sleeper!
Oh yes 👍
I’m so excited for the battery density/weight sweet spot for performance. The future of transport is snappy.
Another great video mate, that is absolutely mental!!! Imagine a few of them in race series hahaha :-)
Cheers Bud. Worried it was too long but found it hard to edit down any further 😂
And he left a BMW driver gobsmacked, which is always fun, lol.
@@PetrolPed Long is fine with decent content, 3 of my top 4 most popular videos are over 24 mins long ;-)
Joe , You have a choice of a pure electric car like this Beetle with lots of Torque and the enjoyment of pissing everyone right off , Or a big ear bashing petrol V8 or V12 , What would you choose ?🤣
Great video / Lots of smiles all around ..I want one.
It's absolutely amazing what you guys do with a little bug known as a bettle abd transform it into a performance auto
Ferdinand Porsche would have liked the touch of Porsche components being used in this build. This is a car that combines the modern with the classic heritage and is beautifully done.
You guys are a riot together. Love it. Nice stuff you built, WOW
That is totally amazing!!! First off that is a beautiful VW Bug, second is this mad genius that somehow designed it to be an electric vehical oh my goodness. That is the greatest thing that I've ever seen in a vintage car. Amazing job all the way around the car. I loved everything that was original and the custom touched fantastic.
Oh yeah mates this message is coming from North Carolina USA
Again amazing job
Thanks Carl. Glad you enjoyed it 👍
It's crazy when the wind noise is the loudest thing in the car.
😂😂😂
I'd love to put that motor setup in my old 1984 BJ42 Toyota Landcruiser!
What a weapon
"...a lot of lightning has gone into this car..." yup!
See what you did there 😜😂
Great informative video, not too long mate. I grew up owning a 1973 Super Beetle w/sunroof. I guess they sau I'm a 2.0 V-DUB guy. Funds or lack there of required me to trade and upgrade to a more user friendly vehicle in the harsh winter land of N.E. South Dakota ( upper midwest USA ) Fast foward 35 years and to Iowa (corn is king here) For my son's 16th birthday and first car he recieved a '67 VW that had been kind of resto moded restored with an 1835cc He as I was in need of a more weather suitable vehicle for a daily driver 50 km round trip to Maytag Co. so I traded him the '67 Beetle he recieved for his birthday for a 2000 Chevy Cavilier with 20k miles on it, I bought wrecked and fixed. It drove like a new one with good heat and AC. He hit a whitail deer with the right front and we repaired it and it will be finished in the same 2008 Isuzu Iceburg Blue Metalic. I'm rambling, sorry, luv to meet Moggy and get a green '73 SB camaro eater, 400 hp would do it. T/Y for the awesome video...cheers!
Love this. Thanks for sharing 🙏🏻
Loved this video, thank you, the car, the engineering and the relationship is great to watch.
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Moggy is simply brilliant! Now I want a custom Moggy build.
Yep 👍
Now I would love to see this in "Hoonicorn versus the world". You should give Ken Block a bell and see what he thinks :~)
I had one of those......back in 1978.
Curved windshield?
That means it is a Super Beetle.
Hi Michael, bought a 1972 Super Bug in the 70's, been improved engine wise. God I loved that Bug, was like sitting on a rocket!
It's appears to be a 1302 or 1303 (based on the windshield and suspension), but apparently that was only called a "Super Beetle" in North America.
Truly EPIC car as is Mr Moggie. Thanks for the ride ! Stay safe
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
....as a mechanic here in New Zealand we call base model cars 'poverty packs' and manual steering 'struggle steer'.
Came here from john reynolds sleeper bug, which has a pretty extreme turbo boosted wrx flat four in it, and its bonkers at 500bhp. This must be absolute insanity
A 3.2-second Beetle isn't just sci-fi from the 50's; it's sci-fi from the 90's.
😂😂😂
That was a fun ride. It felt like I was right there. I want one. The 0-60 mph was most impressive. And I thought 6.0 seconds was fast in my past Eclipse GT. Thank you very much for providing this video.
👍
Now THIS is an electric car to own! Not one of those limp-wristed BS over the top Teslas that you'd be embarrassed to be seen in!
My dream car!! First car was a 72 1600 back when I was a 17yo.
👍
I recall my mother having a Hillman Imp with a slab in the front to make handling better 🤦🏼♀️
👏👏👏
I used to have a Paving slab in the back of my Fuego 2.0 GTX back in the 80's to stop the backend sliding.
@@dj_paultuk7052 The slabs were obviously found to be very useful 👍🏼
Love the car, but I'm a spoiled American : Throw in a/c, power steering, and a 1000w sound system and then we'll talk ! I used to have an beetle in my younger days, I think it was a '63. My friends mentioned trying to put a V8 in it. It was a fun thought.
I wish i can have your technology and tuning in my beetle.
GENIUS x 10000000000000000000000 = wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fantastic video, to see old pals chat and reminiscing - and most important the VW, oh man how special is this conversion. A VW BEETLE - the greatest car ever - now a hyper car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it my friend 👍
CAN you tall more on the drive train from motor to rear wheels what is used to between motor to cv
What a first-rate build!
Cheers 👍
Searched for rebodied Tesla chassis, got this. Way cool. Would love to put a classic body on Tesla chassis. Cheers from NY USA. Globalist plans cracking, keep fighting for freedom!
As I watched this, I smiled the whole time... your joy riding and driving this is so contagious. TYVM👍
talk about your ultimate sleeper! Love it!
Oh yes 🙌
With Ford claiming electric crate motors are coming as well, it's an exciting time for vintage cars! I would love to swap an electric into our little car once the motor goes. I need something closer to 200 hp though as I prefer not to buy new tires every week haha.
5 Years from now electric will be a no-brainer. Charge from home always 100% 600hp. and prices are going down big time
i love beetles, definitely would buy one like this
👍
Real question- as these become easily available, will it kill the crate engine industry? Or drive prices for crate engines down? I have no problems with electric taking over, but I'd miss the sound of the engine. Imagining a future when a standard granny in an electric might have as much HP as a hotrodder with a big crate engine...thinking it might kill the joy of rodding culture someday
Job well Done! We here in SoCal would be blown away with this setup! Make it a California Look.
24:44 He said "0 to 60 in about 2 seconds" AWESOME!!!
Thanks Jeff 👍
Imagine a 600hp classic mini van 🤣
Or 300hp in a classic Mini 😜🤫
Been in a Tesla X P100D ?
The standard is damn fast, but the 100D...
It's getting up there.
Now that is what I call Herbie Fully Loaded. If you find a used Austin cabbie for sale, you can try this conversion also.
