No kidding, you uploaded this video at pretty much exactly the same time I retired my circles character (one of your last videos) and opened the 3 spears envelope, so weirdly perfect timing!
I just got QM as my second class and just hit prosperity level 3 after first scenario with him. It was a bit harder with just 2 items at level 2 so it definitely helps to see the potential involved with more items. There is a fair bit of difficulty balancing out when you play permanent losses in long scenarios as playing it too early drastically shortens your life. The looting power is impressive and quite necessary early on to get up to speed on items - 16 coins 1st scenario 😁. Thanks for your video, I liked and subscribed and I'll be showing your videos to the people I play Gloomhaven with for sure!
Do you automatically go to level 3 if Prosperity hits level 3? I just retired my first guy and we're one check away from Prosperity level 3, so I'm starting at 2.
@@N3verGlow Only when you create a character so if you are at prosperity 2 you create them at 2 and then level normally. If I am understanding correctly and you are at level 2 then hit prosperity 3 you do not automatically advance to level 3 at that point. Hope that helps!
@@neuralnetgames6540 yes you can do that! Its in the rulebook p48: New characters may begin at any level equal to or less than the prosperity level of the town. Likewise, any character with a level lower than the prosperity level may immediately advance their level to match. In either case, follow the level-up steps on p. 44, adjusting the character’s experience value to the minimum value required for the new level.
I got to admit I've not played the QM for very long, but there are a few things I'd like to point out: 1. Bladed Boomerang: It may not be amazing out of the box (although move 4 with an attack on the bottom of level 2 card is nothing to sneeze at), but it comes with an enhancement slot on the attack, which makes this card amazing. I have a disarm on there, which is obviously a bit pricy at 175 gold, but a QM makes a lot of money, and cheaper enhancements (like poison at only 100 gold, or immobilize at 125). Being able to move in, apply your CC, and then move again to reach the target you want to kill (and/or get away from the immobilized target so it can't hurt you) is super good, and with boots, you can do it from a fair distance away. 2. Speaking of boots, you can put a jump on the bottom of Hastened Step for only 50 gold, 30 more than what buying the Winged Shoes would cost, while leaving your boot slot open for boots of striding. With that and either giving up advantage every now and then or using a strengthen enhancement, they're constantly available, and since you don't need jump all the time, constant +2 move is better than constant jump. 3. While Quiver of Arrows seem amazing, how do you sustain yourself trough the mission running both that and Reinforced Steel? 2 losses in the first rotation means only 13 turns of actions before considering stamina potions, and you lose out on your main item refresher by not having Catastrophic Bomb. There's the infinite combo of course, but then you're not doing much, and you have to keep an otherwise bad card until the end of the scenario.
The refresh item deck card will give you back consumed Stamina Potion. That's how. Gotta make sure to not take all your Perks and use advantage so they come out often. But I think you're force to take Perks tabletop, so maybe that applies only for digital. I use Reinforced Steel and Proficiency.
Things are a bit different on Steam. Because I use the Goggles, I don't want to take all my perks. I only want to remove the -1 and take the refresh equipment, that's it. That way, you refresh your consumed items very often. I didn't take a big armor, took the Swordedge one. Also, when using an AoE, all the attacks are made at once, not monster after monster. I love Proficiency. I use an item at every attack, with Goggles and a Major Power Potion. I'm doing range attacks, so I took the Piercing Bow. There are so many different ways of building this class, it's the most versatile of all.
Thanks so much! I have a few videos already shot but I will see if I can get that done in the next few weeks. It's been a little while since I've played him so need to refresh my memory. Thanks for watching and commenting!
In reality, the quartermaster is even more broken. There is a combo that nobody considers that breaks it for good. You will never be exhausted and you will always play overpowered. It's all about the lv. 3 Continuous Supply card. You retrieve two cards. It looks weak instead it breaks the game for good. Especially when you have a lot of items. Why? Basically it works like this: - Use as many items as you want from the first turn, without shame. Attack with the +2 major power potion and then add Stun, perhaps along with an axe that adds targets. Also keep re-shooting on cards with the minor and major stamina potion. it is wonderful because you can use catastrophic bomb multiple times, turn after turn. - Then you use Oversized Pack and restore all your items, including the stamina potions, so you end up being able to use +1 and +2 attacks and also re-pull on cards you use. - At this point you use Continous Supply. You pick up Oversized Pack and use it to restore all your items, including stamina potions - once more. In this way you can use stamina potion and power potion three times. This adds a lot of turns. Basically I'm using my character as if it had 12 cards, I never wear myself out, I use strong cards and strong items knowing that I can easily reuse them If I add in the fact that I carry the cloack of pockets, at that point I have so many items on the table that I keep reusing them that it's a wonder I never get exhausted. If I finally add the ring of haste (which I can use three times during the game with this method), I can practically do all the steps while playing normally. I don't think anyone has considered this crazy awesome combo that relies entirely on Continuous supply. Try it and you won't go back
Great class...pretty much OP unless you go out of your way to deliberately nerf him somehow. Nice video...I would also suggest enhancing bottom of Hastened Step with Jump!
Played this class in a 3m Party of sun bolt and qm. Was so much fun at first but it made the game too easy, even at max difficulty.... i even took bag of Holding as a replacement of oversized pack at lvl 9 because the bottom of scroll seemed to break the game even further... used the bottom of those two literally every scenario.
Class is so imba OP broke. Infinite party if played with certain classes/cards. Especially adding extra targets for ranged attacks. Solo item gets ridiculous. This guy is a staple in all my party comps.
You often talk about great combos. « this issues really well with the lighting class, but I won’t talk about it here ». Well where do you talk about it? Lol i want that info
25:53 The top of Fortified position only work on your allies right? I have a bit of a struggle sometimes understanding what work on YOU, and what only work on ALLIES Heal cards, like "Heal 3 range 2" for example, can heal you or an ally I don't understand what wording they use when it's ONLY allies :o
correct, only works on allies. if it says allies it only works on them and if it just a standard heal that targets, you are a valid target. hope that helps!
Yep definitely very strong! I used to play a stun build that was less OP but still pretty good so maybe try and do some very fringe build and you might have more fun! Thanks for watching!
My buddy and I just retired our second chars yesterday (Cthulhu with Two Minis) and the new classes available to us are Three Spears and Eclipse at prosperity 5. Even if he would not be invisible all the time I will have to tank with Three Spears, I suppose. Hopefully we will be able to add a third (but inexperienced) player if corona allows it. Which class would you recommend?
Quartermaster and Musicnote being in the party will make it to where you hardly have to play at all lol. especially with musicnote. that character is broken
Check out my newest video, how to play Gloomhaven on Tabletop Simulator; it has timestamps. I will be adding them to some of my bigger videos, but not every video, as it is actually pretty time consuming! Thanks again for watching and commenting!!!
Any condition is considered positive but ambiguous and undefined. Which means a refresh is technically equal to a +2 so you take the first card pulled. What is not ambiguous is something like stun vs stun +1. The +1 is better.
To any new Quartermaster players looking for fun cheese, remember: The Pendant of Dark Pacts requires you to take the curse card that does not count as a negative item effect. The Utility Belt has been updated and is not recoverable.
Actually if you have immunity to curses (no spoilers lol), you can actually avoid the curse effect. But I see you are referring to the perk, which I was slow to read haha.
Why no one say what you can't Refresh consumed items with Intendant perk? Intendant refresh with modificator spended item - what can refreshed with long rest, not consumed.
Dang i hate this class.. My friend plays him and he now refuses to retire him as he is playing the QM for the second time in this campaign and apparently its his favorite class. And all he does is stay back and be overly dramatic about every single hitpoint he might gonna lose so he doesnt really attack much nor does he go fast in rounds but what he does is make sure to use his loot 2 card as soon as there are coins to grab. He looted at least 170 gold in the last 4 scenarios wile i only got like 10 . It makes me angry and is not fun to play with such a loot hungry teammate.. He easily gets 80-90% of all loot and the chests as well.. while doing prolly only like 5-10 dmg to enemies the whole scenario. And were playing scenario level 3-4 What he does is listening to what me and our other friend is doing (we are in a party of 3) and usually i declare which enemy i focus on and the third guy does the same, the QM guy doesnt think of himself as a Damage dealer so he goes late to "finish them off" if enemies survived. There goes a next turn where we have to move towards a door so i prepare my movement and try to step on sone coins on the way but oh no. Suddenly he goes fast and does loot 2 to grab all of the coins i couldve reached with my movement because "you didnt loot em anyway" ... This loot 2 on too card is such a game breaker... he even uses stamina potions to get it back... What do i do? I mean i talked to him and he said he wont bring the loot card but the very next scenario he did exactly the same... It got really frustrating

Definitely a great class in multiplayer. Makes things smooth. Great to have in a four player campaign. Love the insight on best card choices.
Great class everywhere, except for your party when you take all the loot lol

No problem! Let me know if you have any questions. It's a pretty complicated class so I had to go on a couple of tangents when explaining things lol

lol oh can he! so op once you are at decent prosperity!
Great class...pretty much OP unless you go out of your way to deliberately nerf him somehow. Nice video...I would also suggest enhancing bottom of Hastened Step with Jump!
Yeah for sure! I ended up going with a stun build near the end of my play time with him to mix it up! was fun but not insane!
