    I've been playing the doomstalker with table top simulator, focusing on damage dealing with the expose card and some mass attacks.
    I'm reaching level 9. It has been really fun to play. Super powerful attacks, and so much range that i barely get hit by anyone.
    I explicitly ignored summons and traps, those are completly useless game mechanics.
    I ignored both level 5 cards so I could take with me both level 3 cards. Level 4 obviously took the move 5 jump. An level 6, that invisibility card is just so awesome.
    I've ignored dooming twice or thrice and the effects "add +2/3 attack to doomed enemies this round", since I always expect to one-shot kill the doomed enemy, or for tougher monster, two rounds are more than enough without extra buffs.
    I use the long moves with jumps plus two invisibilities on hand (card and cloak) so I can jump into the middle of a big crowd. Then I do the big "attack 3 range 3 everyone in range" plus a major power potion (+2 dmg) and hawk helm (+1 range), and I enhanced that card with a disarm (costed 350g). So attack 5 range 4 with disarm. Yesterday I played that in one scenario and hit 12 monster, 9 kills. The other 3 disarmed.

    Great guide! We have some surprising synergy with this person added to our party! Let's just say - there are lots of friends and some really crazy combo potentials out there with this guy! Your guide as always has helped to make me feel better about my own strategy and given me some food for thought as well! Hands down, the best guides on RUclips for Gloomhaven! Keep'em coming!

    A very nice guide, though I disagree with Camouflage. I found that card to be a life saver. a renewable invisibility is great for any scenario where the goal is not to kill the monsters. At higher levels and the right equipment combo, you can destroy a non-murder scenario pretty easily while your allies tie up the monsters you leave behind. Even on kill all monster scenarios, the ability to repeatedly breach the door and buy your tank a round or two of damage avoidance is a nice bonus.

    I ALWAYS remove scenario effects first, THEN do what you do for check marks.

    I would only add: as with the analogous Mindthief and Music Note cards, make sure to DISCARD YOUR ACTIVE DOOM BEFORE RESTING if it will give you an even number of cards in your next hand. This adds several turns of longevity over a scenario and you can immediately re-Doom at fast initiative anyway (the exception being Inescapable Fate, the Doom on which remains a misleadingly shiny object).

      Yep good point for the Doomstalker, but if we are talking MindThief, I wouldn't very often pick up the Mind's weakness as it slows you down a lot having to re play it and costs you a top action which you could be using to attack. Only pick it up if you feel like you are in danger of not having enough cards to complete or if you are moving in between rooms, etc

    The Doomstalker has been my favorite character so far. I felt like I was regularly attacking with base 5 or base 7 damage at advantage without using any loss cards. I actually took both Expose and Relentless Offensive. He could deal some serious burst damage with those two (I think I didn't take either of the level 4 cards to I could get both of the level 2 cards). When I hit level 5, I loved inescapable fate. I would try as often as I could to pair it with Race to the Grave and Rain of Arrows. Then if I attack with Relentless Offensive and Swift Trickery I can do base 8 damage at advantage without a loss as well as have the enemy take an additional 2 damage on their turn. So much fun to just deal that much damage to people.
    For my items I had (item spoilers here!!!!) the blinking cape as well as the empowering talisman, so that solved all of my move issues.
    Such a fun character. I want to learn most of the other character before repeating any, but of the 4 that I've had in my campaign, he's my favorite so far. Amazing burst damage, and while he CAN tank, I hardly ever had him take any damage because his range is amazing (and we had others in the party who could absorb hits and didn't need to spread the damage).

    Frightening curse + detonation combo is great for cluttered up mobs where there are a couple of low HP, high shielded mobs

    I just unlocked this character on digital and played once. I played the summons for the xp once I saw the scenario was under control.

    Oh yessss there it is! Ooooh I'm so excited to start the char..^^ (I could retire my old one as I want, cause I know what I could play to complete it, but I kinda wanna play my old one some few more scenarios..^^)
    But soon it will be my next char.

    I already decided more or less which cards to take and its the same as you say.
    Only for lvl 6+ I have not decided yet...^^ (I like to make a plan ahead, sometimes I change it inbetween then..^^)

      @@neuralnetgames6540 both is cool, but I am more of the planning type lol^^
      I AM one who wants to test different builds tho and in games where it's easily possible without drawbacks, I often change builds too to test it.
      But I also am one who wants to test the whole of a build, so for example in gloomhaven (where you cannot switch builds in play with most classes), I really like playing classes till lvl 9 instead of retire as early as possible. I DO wanna test a lot of classes and various builds tho, so we will probably play a LOT of community Scenarios/Campaigns after we completed it XD
      And I have really much fun in planning alone, so I always plan a build through (have now nearly finished a plan for the angry face, but start it in few scenarios only - and I have a finished plan for my lvl 1 demolitionist which I started parallel in our new JotL Campaign lol)
      That said - its not cut into stone, so sometimes I realize in play I do like some other card and do change my plans XD

    I disagree about the Move issues for the Doomstalker. Its ranged abilities and dooms with unlimited range mean it doesnt need to move every turn and the base Move 2 of every card is available when really needed.
    One challenge with DS is getting extra XP since almost all of of its abilities giving XP are lost cards.

    Some classes should have some kind of ability about camouflaging traps. Make all traps invisible in range 3. It would make some cool combos.

      Yes! I like this idea, They could function a lot like the Diviners Rifts were you can exploit monster movement ambiguity to make them more effective

    I did the light dark senerio and it make if so easy as the boss and shadow demons couldn't go invisible.

    Wild command is not useful in ANY other instance. I just unlocked him with prosperity lvl 6 and I have a fresh summoner in the party. And we WILL try to make this worth our while!!

      Agree, My wife is playing a summons build for the Doomstalker. We paired this up with the Beast Tyrant which I played as an active/summons build. It was such a fun pairing but eventually we needed to retire because we were cruising on +2. Now we are starting the Forgotten Circles expansion and were pairing her level 7 summons build with my diviner(level 3) and pretty easily beat the first two levels on normal difficulty (we had heard how much more difficult the expansion was)

    Not really sold on the X plan of yours lol. Sap Life isn't a great Doom; being a ranged character you typically shouldn't be taking too many hits, certainly not enough to justify using that Doom. Of course this will vary by party composition, but the class is an archer...stay back and ping stuff!

    This is my first unlock when I get back to GH. He looks weaker than most, and not as fun as other starting characters. Plus, he doesn’t seem like a good partner for Loki the Mindthief.

      He's actually pretty good although not overpowered! MT and him can work too, although you'll have to play a bit different than standard as you will have to take more hits than normal.

      @@neuralnetgames6540 I liked what it was trying to do with the doom mechanic but imho it was too restrictive with each ability bound to different cards, you can never seem to get the type of doom you want at the right time. should have been an active ability sort of like the beast master has his concentrated rage. Maybe have two types of cards with multiple different doom affects, this would have allowed more fun with the summons. As is, Juggling the doom, his weak movement and the summons was not fun for me.
