I was a care giver to a man several years ago who was severely mentally and physically challenged.
He loved Buck Owens. He couldn’t walk or talk. We’d play Buck Owens music and he’d clap and use his feet on the floor to make his chair swivel around.
    Thank you Buck ❤🙏🙏❤

Chris Hillman, Dwight Yoakam, Billy Gibbons, Brad Paisley, Travis Barker. What a collaboration! Of course Buddy Owens on Streets of Bakersfield was like Buck being right there on stage. Phenomenal is an understatement.

I see so many comments trashing Travis, but I don't see anyone commenting on how Dwight managed to bring these diverse musicians together, if only for a few minutes onstage to pay tribute to a true pioneer of country music.

It’s hard to be a rock star in a country music tribute. Travis is a kind soul and very talented. I have been a Dwight fan since 1986. I love all music. So does Dwight.

I worked for Buck at two of his stations. I grew up in the 60's watching the Buck Owens Ranch Show on KPHO-TV 5 on Saturdays. My dad introduced me to Buck, and I always respected and liked Buck. Shortly after my father passed away of cancer, Buck put on a show to benefit cancer research. Buck was a greater entertainer then a lot of the folks considered. Thank you Buck for the opportunity and the music you left behind. RIP!

Not a Travis Barker fan, don't know any of his music, but can say without a doubt he nailed it and he did it with enthusiasm. He didn't look anything like the other musicians, and I think it's great.

Travis Barker is part of a punk rock group called Blink-182, he is the furthest thing you would think of in regards to a country music and I absolutely love it. The simple fact that this man genuinely loves every single designer he touches just let you know that he has a true appreciation for the craft of drums.
He in no way will scoff at anyone ask him to play on a track because he's seriously has the mind of an iPod. He'll listen to Hey William song One Moment and then a Buck Owens track the next and then go straight to Blink-182 and he loves all of it.
People always say they love everything but country, Travis Barker literally loves everything including country. I will admit I laughed my butt off when I saw him playing because it was humorous to see a punk rock drummer in a country music tribute, but you know what I wouldn't have it any other way because it just shows you how far-reaching country is.
I mean if Miranda Lambert's bass player can look like a punk rocker and still jam on country like it's nobody's business, why can't Travis Barker be there? I mean he literally looks exactly like the bass player from Miranda Lambert's band.

As a young kid I lived in San Diego and Bakersfield was a family joke because my aunt lived there. In 1980 I had to go to work in Bakersfield and it was a joke. I was there a month before I realized there were mountains near by , the dust hid them. What I did find were very nice people not at all assuming like the rest of SoCal, more country music than I could ever stand and the very best Mexican food on the planet. 40 years later it’s a big city, I haven’t been back but all of my memories are the finest of crazy people tubing on the Kern river, looking for snakes and just enjoying the hell out of life. Good for them!

Barker doesn’t think that musical disparity is weird with this generation of music lovers. “It’s an iPod generation where we listen to everything. Someone’s probably listening to KROQ or flipping through and listening to XM like Shade 45. You know, listening to everything. So, it was just really picking all my favorite bands and friends of mine to come play.” For Barker, that singularity of music love might have existed as a rebellious teenager, but he considers working on the Buck Owens tribute as one of his favorites.
“You mentioned country music and doing that Buck Owens tribute..It was awesome,” said Barker. “Pops kind of raised me on Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Buck Owens. So when his son reached out saying he was doing a tribute for his dad, I was so honored. I think I kind of grew up thinking, ‘Oh, Dad. I’m over all this country music. Let me put on Slayer.'”
So every one can say DRUMMER OUT OF PLACE lol, this was out of Blink 182's drummers Book, Travis barker.. so im sure ive answered some questions lol

He began playing the drums at an early age and drew inspiration from many genres. Buck Owens is one of the artists he will name specifically. He learned to play drs by playing along to his records. He wanted to be there playing this tribute and they wanted him there knowing Buck would approve.

Plus he is a family man, does it get more country than that!? I heard an interview that he did while rehearsing for this, he even learned the mistakes that were made in the original recordings. I think it's bad ass that travis played drums here. He is amazingly talented and has appreciation of all genres. What a narrow view to trash his performance.
