- "Swinging Doors" is a song written and recorded by American country music artist Merle Haggard and The Strangers. It was released in February 1966 as the first single and title track from the album Swinging Doors. The song peaked at number five on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Singles.
Swinging Doors and the Bottle Let Me Down is the second studio album by country singer Merle Haggard and The Strangers, released in 1966 on Capitol Records. It is sometimes called Swinging Doors and has also been released with two fewer songs as High On A Hilltop.
Låtskriver: Merle Haggard
Duett : Merle Haggard & Dwight Yoakam
Merle Ronald Haggard (April 6, 1937 - April 6, 2016) was an American country singer, songwriter, guitarist, and fiddler.
Haggard was born in Oildale, California, during the Great Depression. His childhood was troubled after the death of his father, and he was incarcerated several times in his youth. After being released from San Quentin State Prison in 1960, he managed to turn his life around and launch a successful country music career, gaining popularity with his songs about the working class that occasionally contained themes contrary to the prevailing anti-Vietnam War sentiment of much popular music of the time. Between the 1960s and the 1980s, he had 38 number-one hits on the US country charts, several of which also made the Billboard all-genre singles chart. Haggard continued to release successful albums into the 2000s.
Dwight David Yoakam (born October 23, 1956) is an American singer-songwriter, musician, and actor, known for his pioneering style of country music.[1] First becoming popular in the mid-1980s, Yoakam has recorded more than twenty albums and compilations, charted more than thirty singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, and sold more than 25 million records. He has recorded five Billboard #1 albums, twelve gold albums, and nine platinum albums, including the triple-platinum This Time.
In addition to his many achievements in the performing arts, he is also the most frequent musical guest in the history of The Tonight Show.

Lyrics:
This old smoke filled bar is somethin' I'm not used to
But I gave up my home to see you satisfied
And I just called to let you know where I'll be livin'
It's not much but I feel welcome here inside
And I've got swingin' doors a jukebox and a barstool
And my new home has a flashin' neon sign
Stop by and see me anytime you want to
'Cause I'm always here at home 'til closin' time
I've got everythin' I need to drive me crazy
I've got everythin' it takes to lose my mind
And in here the atmosphere's just right for heartaches
Thanks to you I'm always here 'til closin' time
And I've got swingin' doors a jukebox and a barstool
And my new home has a flashin' neon sign
Stop by and see me anytime you want to
'Cause I'm always here at home till closin' time
Yeah, I'm always here at home till closin' time
I know there was a video of D,Yoakum singing Guitar Town!!! Can not find it anywhere on the Internet? ?? Do you know where I may find this video? ?? Thank you!

If you don’t know these lyrics, you ain’t a Hag fan.

Poor Dwight will never get the credit from Country Music he deserves, he reminds me a lot of Willie Nelson Merle Haggard and Waylon Jennings in the 70's and 80's when they were killing it and never got any recognition! His fans know how great he has been tho!
Icon!
Yes too true...
I absolutely love Dwight's twang
All are terrific singers won't ever be gone as always are around as here because when hears their songs
So true a Icon in country music
Dwight is very underrated
I respect Dwight so much when he said thank you Merle for letting me sing that with you. Class act for sure.
Dwight really shows up Merle!!
That’s respect most young folk ain’t got no more
The way he backs off the mic and does a beautiful harmony part. Pure gold.
Dwight did not show up Merle. Yeah, he sang it just as well as Merle, but better ? No .
No 1 will take the old country music singers please in me !!
Now that's country music. Not like the crap the corporations are putting out now.
You aren't hearing anything close to real country these days on the radio it's just bad rock and roll with a Twang
for sure
@@patriciapetitt7452 love these too guys the good old country music
You got that right,,,
Miss Merle Haggard, Dwight is good but I loved Merle’s Concerts more and he was more polite to fans than Dwight was!!!
I'm glad Merle got the attention and acclaim he deserved in the closing years of his life. Greatest country singer of his generation!
Yes he was
totally agree. I love Merle

So therapeutic!
Dwight come slidin' in like a pimp!!! and I gotta say, Dwight's harmonies are severely under-appreciated... not only can he carry a song like a boss but he can respectfully back up other artists while still shinin'...
Dwight is a top star and can do live what he does on records.... I saw and heard him in the 1990s live. He's the real deal. And I grew up on hillbilly and early Porter/Dolly in B&W TV... in Bristol, TN. I know about country.
l don't care what anyone says about Dwight he can sing and act if they don't like. don't like dwight they can kiss his ass
No one can say anything bad about Dwight Just make him keep his hat on
Truer words were never spoken!
Alison sparrow
yu could tell Merle had a good time doing that one
So country, love iit. Mama & daddy raised us on country music. Amen. This ones for them!
Grew up listening to Roy Acuff sing this one. My granddad had everything he could get by Roy and Jimmy Rodgers. Brings back memories...
In April of 2016 we lost a true Legend! RIP Hag.
Unless you experienced him in the late 1960's, you don't have any idea at just how great this singer-songwriter-musician could be. He was so good on guitar and violin that he was featured in jazz magazines. What a talent!
I love how Merle impersonates Dwight when he sings "where I'd be living" in the first verse. Merle was the king of impersonations
This is country music not the crap they have today!! 💖
Amen! Always loved Dwight
How can anything be this Good !!!!!!!!!!!
Love these two soooo much ❤️❤️❤️❤️💙‼️‼️🌹🌹🌹
Let's hope Dwight's new baby inherited his amazing talent!
Merle is the GOAT in my opinion. I have always loved Dwight and how he learned and understood the history of country music and paid proper respect to it. Dwight is an absolute legend in his own right.
Why is merle a goat
Merle a goat !? Nice looking guy and more famous than Dwight ever was. Merle is a legend.
@@fredathomason3524 GOAT stands for Greatest Of All Time

@@marvinhadley3453 he can be. Can a hooker be a Dr? The best ever...
Watch Merle doesn’t keep his eyes of off Dwight. Such a gem of a video and we are all thankful for it. Dwight doing the broken leg cowboy was excellent. God bless the Hag.
the cream of the crop always
I thought he got shot in the foot but dragged himself out to play anyway...What a trooper. Lol
both r country legends
Hello how are you doing today
Dwight's entrance is tops.
It's the first time I've seen him in a suit
Just saw Dwight in concert in Missouri - he was fantastic! Did 90 minutes w/o stopping - and a beautiful tribute to Mere, as well as Buck Owens. Made me proud to be a fan of real country musicians! (May 2017)
Dwight is the epitome of what country music is…🙌🏼
Hes amazing in person I've seen him twice he has a style, and a sound like no other
Went to the Marlboro music 🎶 fest in 1982 love ❤️ it. So sorry it is a thing of the past 😢
Incredible how Merle harmonizes on the final chorus, and Dwight just goes with it.
Two of the GREATEST Country singers of all time right here.
I Love Dwight he’s 1st CLASS seen him Hilton Las Vegas 1997. Agree he’s not had the RECOGNITION HE TRULY DESERVES.
imagine what it must feel like to have Merle Haggard say, "ladies and gentlemen, (your name)". What a tremendous honor.
Efffin love those two
Two LEGENDS of country music. REAL COUNTRY MUSIC. Not bubble gum, candy assed, schleps in tee shirts. Singing about how sensitive they are. And they're up for good times.
Merle Haggard was a great a talented man.
2020 that chappie Dwight just had a son and married not so long ago he 63 or there abouts his wife 36 so he's good first marriage good luck to him and his new baby and wife God bless them & keep them safe 🇮🇪🏡🌟🌟🌟🙏😷
They are incredible together 🤠
As a Nationwide Trucker, I would load a Merle Haggard disc, on the West Coast, and give it a "whirl with Mr. Merle," all the way across until the Atlantic Ocean was up ahead. Later on Dwight showed up. He gave him a lot of help. Oh, I forgot, so did Emmy Lou and Willie.
Ooooohhhhh😯 two of my favorites....FANTASTIC!!💞💞💞
Dwight loved and respected Merle so much.
almost 20 years ago...BUT never any better has happened since! kat
I've always loved his voice always
This makes me want to go to a bar and sink a few whiskeys down

Two of the coolest guys to ever play country music!! I'm from PA and love that Bakersfield sound!!
I am originally from Pittsburgh Pa, now I live 200 miles from Bakersfield.
Even at that age he still knocked em dead there will never be another one like the HAG !!!!!
So true!
Ange xC
Dwight YUM YUM❤️
A plea to all the male country artists....please try to catch up to these two!
You just said it all....
djpaustin Oh C'mon..!!!! Stop the judgement. When a guy sings like that.. and having a Life like that, he transcends beyond all issues..
But let's get really Talent like that , Greatness like that can not happen often... But Hellya... I wish there could be at least a couple among the present modern country singers holding with 1/100th of their (DY and Hag) taste and talent and holding up their flag and keeping it flying high... Maybe Hag's kids would do that..
tpro skyebo good luck with that !!!!
You got that right
I am sorry but the current male country stars aren’t even in the same type of race. There will be no one to fill their shoes for a very long time. Sad to say.
❤. Rest in Peace 🕊️🕊️. Merle Haggard ❤
2 of the best
Another good one of Merle real country. Ilve it.
Saw Merle once at the Ryman saw George once only too. At the Mother Church. I have seen Dwight 3 times there. Dwight is the BEST in the last 30 years. He shows respect to the one that came before him. He will be 61 in October this year. He plays A lot of shows. Going to see him in Reno. One of the best Love acts ever.
RIP Merle George Buck Johnny you are missed
At his very seniors, Merle Haggard is still the best.
Amazing performance
2 amazing artists! Dwight is a legend now, but love how he shows respect to Merle.

I just loved the HAG ,/ MERLE HAGGARD , LOVE YOU TO MOON & BACK , X 🎸🎵🎼
Me, too. Loved Merle the first time I heard him many, many years ago, before he was as famous as he became. I pegged him; I said, "That's my guy, the best singer." And a great writer. He set an example for everyone who followed.
If this followed up with Two Doors Down..ahh man
This is real country music
merle love all your music what a person you are to music all over the world
So cute how Merle adds his own fancy footwork to match Dwight's.... how awesome to see 2 country legends come together and collaborate on a classic song!!! Pure Enjoyment!!!
Yes, Merle does a funny little step, not just here, but in other videos I've seen. So cute!

2 legendary country singers
Rest in peace Merle haggard
Hello 🫂 how are you feeling today
Quite an entrance Dwight
Helluva duet......doncha know Dwight was proud! (and Merle too!)
Missing Merle, wishing Dwight a long long life!
Dangit Dwight, we need you to step up man. You are one of the few who can fill those shoes, of guys like Merle, Willie, George, and Waylon.
I saw Dwight in concert once and he totally sucked! No personality didn't interact with the crowd nothing just sang the songs. I could have stuck in my tape recorder and got as much out of it if not more!
Yes Merel is a one time singer I love his music I grew up with that
Thats so true. Love Dwight
@@kristinaokelly862 I saw Dylan at the Ohio State Fair eons ago, and I felt the exact same thing your talking about, it was the biggest snooze fest ever, crowd barely applauded and people were walking out halfway through the show, I felt embarrassed for him. Still a legend, but yikes, a really off and awkward performance. Fun fact, my mom grew up with Dwight and used to babysit his little sister in Columbus, Ohio.
I spent 5 yrs. of my life on the south side of Columbus oh I was always told Dwight Yoakum lived there some where
This is the first song I ever played on stage at the age of 15 in South Texas. 1968
+austin teutsch I played this in 1974 with Billy Carrol Whiteman in PA and MD. Great song!
... When you hit the thumbs up just from the description because you KNOW this is going to be good!
How hot does Dwight look in a suit...he rocks and that gorgeous smile he gives Merle.
