Went to the range and shot my new B14R Carbon with standard 'chassis' stock. I glass bedded the recoil lug which works well on a Rem 700 compatible rifle. With NO break in, it shot Eley Match, Wolf Match, Lapua Center-X and SK-Rifle beautifully. Quarter-inch groups at 50 yards (indoors - no wind). Great rifle. Can't wait to see performance after 500+ rounds break-in.
Hi, I just wanted to tell you that I’ve learned more about 22LR mechanics during your Vudoo series than I’ve picked up in 50 years of shooting. This Bergara series looks like it’s going to be a great add on. I appreciate the time you spend making these videos, while working and raising your young family. I never learned anything from Ray 😜.
My Christensen Ranger shoots Federal bulk box pretty well for being 'cheap' ammo. Aguila sucks in all regards out of my rifle. Their subsonic 'sniper' keyholes at 50 yards. This series is awesome! Thanks Kenny!
Awesome video man !!! It so cool wacthin a master gunsmith work and shoot I have picked up so much info from all your videos.. thanks for all the hard work
Another great vid Kenny, just got my b14r together and started palying, definqtely a step up form my Ruger Precision, although i seem to have gottenan RPRP that shoots well it just still is not in the swme class as the Berg. Love your informative videos. Keep up the great work sir
Have been pleased with my carbon. With a suppressor it THEORETICALLY would be a great motorcycling / backpacking rifle to shoot deep on gov land where you arent necessarily supposed to be shooting. Theoretically. Outside of a broken firing pin(MAYBE i shouldnt dry fire it 10k times, who knows), no problems that couldnt be attributed to crappy ammo. Did take a bit of fenagling to get it to feed properly from my MPA chassis, but newer mags seem to have lessened the problems. Mine definitely prefers Center X and SKRM, at least out of the lots i had on hand. Eley Semi Auto Benchrest Precision was the only Eley load i could find that shot an even halfway decent group, and i tried em ALL. Dont know if it is necessarily value, but its about as good as it gets before you start getting into the yummy high end stuff, imo. Just depends what direction you are looking at it from.
Great video, I have a bergara and I have been playing with epoxy to minimize the magazine play when seated in the magazine well. That may work better then the felt suggestions. Have a nice day.
Nice you didn’t have any extraction malfunctions. Where the extractors staked? From what I’ve seen from other users on RUclips. Bergera’s biggest issues is a progressively loose extractor that slips the spent case behind the extractor and creates a jam. Staking the extractor fixes the issue if it ever starts to happen.
I just.picked up model 12 savage with 26 inch heavy fluted barrel from the late 90s for 499 barrel looks it only has 300 rounds threw it. It has the savage bvss wood stock. I threw my old mil moa swfa on it and. I was saving for bergara but saw this and said i need to just get. training rifle is chambered for 308
My favorite cheap 22 ammo was SK standard plus and wolf match which I think was the same ammo and Wolf match was $18 a brick when it came out and I still have half a case @ that price, then CCI standard. The funny thing is I had built a 10/22 that shot awesome from 50 - 100 yards and fed no problem! 🙀 What’s really funny was it had a blem GM barrel called “ white face mountain” I got for $49 then threaded and crowned it for suppressed.. Still have that barrel but needs facing now. 🤷♀️
Hey great job. I like this video. I am considering the B 14 r carbon Also the CZ 457 I see you gave the B14 a thumbs up What are your thoughts on the CZ Also I just purchased a Arken EP5 Getting it next week How do you like yours Is it good out to 400 plus Thanks for your time. Cheers
FYI - With my stock HMR stock/chassis, two pieces of thicker duct tape (Gorilla) on the front of the mag solved my feed issue. So I think your idea has merit!
Great comparative overview!... Question: the Bergara bolt close seems a tad stiff... maybe harder to close bolt than it might be. Have you found a method to make the Bergara bolt close and lock down easier?
Kenny I have a Rim x that is light striking causing misfires about ten percent of the time...any suggestions.....this is a self-built rifle,,,,,, tried to have you build me one but I live in the communist state of California ..... you are the expert builder for 22lr rifles....Best wishes Mike
Should you lot test @ 50 or 100? If you check the bullet face during feeding you will see it will tend to shave some lead sometimes even when it feeds fine in aftermarket chassis
I shot twenty six five shot groups I had twenty five groups .1s and 1 under. 1 tenth group. This was with my cz457 at 50yrd now I think think that is pretty good my scope is 5/30/50 zeiss timmney trigger 6 oz. Pull weight 419 rail with modacam 24 inch barrel I don't think there are two many 22 rifles out there that will do that. Any how I am very pleased with mine. Beagleman
Don't base your rifles performance at 50 yards... that's why I currently hold the record at both lapua test centers at 100 meters. 20 shots at 10 and 9mm. Both CZ457's
After 1100 rounds and smoothing out the bolt rotation, this rifle remains very difficult to activate the bolt. A little better with Lapua & SK, unbearable with Eley. Impossible to stay on target while activating bolt. This issue alone makes this riffle NOT fun to shoot. A real shame!!!! Worse yet is the fact that Bergara offers NO solution.
You could re barrel new trigger new ammo and you could even take it to the hospital and they still won't outshoot my cz457 vp mtr. I will shoot a target at 100yrds and have it certified by a notary and I will pay a notary to come and watch and check the distance and certify every thing I also shoot sk standard plus. Beagleman

Great video Kenny. We are being given an awful lot of awesome information by you . We thank you 🙏 man . Keep up the great work.

Very good and informative video Kenny. Looks like we jumped on that .22 bandwagon again for another ride. 😄
The rabbit hole..... here we go lol
This makes me feel alot better about my b14 trainer in carbon that i just got..x-ring didn't really have luck with his..
Fantastic video! Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge.Good shooting.👍🏻
Good info, I absolutely agree about ammo selection and lot testing

Another excellent video Kenny a CZ is the only 22 bolt gun I have at this time
Great video, I have a bergara and I have been playing with epoxy to minimize the magazine play when seated in the magazine well. That may work better then the felt suggestions. Have a nice day.
Looking forward to the series. Mine loves standard+. But like anything, very lot depend. Really interested in a rebarrel on the B14r.

Ive seen that issue and was expecting that to happen on these rifles. Ejection had no problems but definitely will stack it if needed
Really looking forward to this series on the B14R’s. I’m am curious though as to how they performed prior to changing them out of the factory stocks.
Good question. Unfortunately all three of these rifles was assembled using purchased barreled actions
Great Video Kenny !!!! Can’t wait till part 2
👍👍 wouldn’t part with either of my b14r’s. Love em
I have noticed that to season my carbon I need to do 20-25 rounds before they tighten up

That SK Standard has put out some impressive groups with a few rifles. Definitely one of my favorite. Send that barrel my way
Mpa makes an adjustable mag release that you can modify to fit the xrs chassis. I had the same feed issues in my Bergara with the xrs chassis
Hey great job. I like this video.

Thanks for your time.
Cheers
You wanna see what the carbon barrel looks like I will send u one, it’s a Carbon sleeve over a pencil barrel I got one I took it apart
Kenny, hurry up I want you to build me a lefty BA!
Thanks for another great video. Would it be possible to wrap the mag in one layer of tape and bed the magwell for a custom fit?
Awesome idea!
FYI - With my stock HMR stock/chassis, two pieces of thicker duct tape (Gorilla) on the front of the mag solved my feed issue. So I think your idea has merit!
I'm picking one up after new year. Can you have a look at any extraction problems as ,OK I've seen on another tuber made a dodgy fix .(1 eye) cheers 🍻
Great video
Have you thread any of your customers barrels for tuners? A tuner seems like an advantage for .22lr
I have threaded for the original EC tunners and yes they work. However, a tunner will not fix high SD ammo
Great comparative overview!...
Question: the Bergara bolt close seems a tad stiff... maybe harder to close bolt than it might be. Have you found a method to make the Bergara bolt close and lock down easier?
Awsome content!
Can a left hand B14r be rebarreled to a 22wmr???
Kenny I have a Rim x that is light striking causing misfires about ten percent of the time...any suggestions.....this is a self-built rifle,,,,,, tried to have you build me one but I live in the communist state of California ..... you are the expert builder for 22lr rifles....Best wishes Mike
Headspace more than likely. Judge lifted that ruling in CA
In view of the court's decision here in California could I order a Rim X build from you .....thanks Mike
Good information.. thanks!
Have you ever tried a barrel tuner?
Tuners are where it's at for rimfire
Should you lot test @ 50 or 100?
If you check the bullet face during feeding you will see it will tend to shave some lead sometimes even when it feeds fine in aftermarket chassis
Don't see that in these rifles will keep that in mind. Test at both distances, small groups and needs to hold a 1inch paste at 100
New to bergara so can you tell me what is old style bergara?is there a difference to watch out for before buy?
👍👍
If you don't have the right ammo the rifle won't shoot you definitely are 100 percent right.

Tuner, that way you don't waste your money.
Tuners on a 22lr arnt repeatable. Therefore a waste
@Eagle Eye Shooting I can make shit ammo shoot really well, so I have to disagree. Just saying. Thanks for your all you do love your videos.
First

Wow I have a $100 savage mark 2 that shoots better than these. It's really all about the barrel and ammo
18" barrels can be picky
