    Never underestimate your body temperature!
    I've come to find that my bt drops considerably due to the long periods of inactivity and resulting bad circulation, pain and possibly not enough nutrition. Hand warmers in your hands or placed on wrists or on your torso can help enormously with keeping your temperature up. Also bring something warm to drink in a thermos bottle. It's soothing for the nerves, comforting and can help bring that core temperature back up.

    Once when I got up for a bathroom break, I felt a little dizzy. When I got back on the table, it was worse. I told the artist I was going to push through another 30 minutes and call time. I should not have gone back on that table. I had to sit down and let some of the dizziness pass before I could even drive home. Like you, I always bring a button-up shirt so I can stay partially covered up to stay warm, food, and am not shy about asking the artist to warm up the studio! Same with the loud music in some studios. The cold and loud music detract from the enjoyment of my addiction. Like you, I am working on a full body suit. Not a great deal of "canvas" left to cover. I usually have the next tattoo planned, just like the two I have coming up in the next weeks. However, I am stuck for now on these last two spaces and have not worked up the guts for that "private" spot, but know I will get there.

Because it was a guest spot for him, we couldn't reschedule until 12 to 24 months later - and I was feeling alright and didn't have symptoms anymore, but in my heart I knew that my body wasn't in perfect shape. To get more sleep in my own bed I took a train very early in the morning instead of booking a hotel (where I know I can't sleep well). I was very nervous and only had a small lunch, no breakfast. I paid the price for all of that in weakness, pain, and tears, thankfully I didn't pass out or vomit. But I could have used every bit of energy that I didn't get.

    Doing any more than 4/5 hours is just insane and I wouldn’t recommend for normal people. Tattooed a long time and 4-5 is where people usually break it’s just not healthy or wise to do more. You don’t have to prove anything to anyone or prove you are tough to yourself. 2-3 hours should be plenty of time to get a lot done and not end up sick. You want to push yourself but this isn’t running or working out. You are more than likely losing blood and going through waves of intense pain and doing that for long periods of time isn’t smart or cool. I only had one person pass out and it was 5 mins into a tattoo and it’s not fun. They were stressed from their significant other n smoked weed before n panicked I think. Just seeing all the people in the comments about 10-12 hr sessions is psychotic and unless you get off on pain or like to torture yourself or want to hate tattoos asap, I don’t suggest doing it. Sit for 5-6 hrs if u have to for a huge outline if u must but just do 2-3 hr coloring or shading sessions. It’s not an iron man contest. Don’t let anyone pressure you to sit longer if u are done just be done. Breaks won’t save you and especially smoking weed will not rescue you from the pain of a tattoo especially especially if u don’t normally smoke. It will make it worse. I wouldn’t recommend ten hour sittings tho and please people don’t think that’s normal. Most tattoo artist don’t even wants to sit for that long.

      That was all very well said and is true. I do t recommend people to do this either… unless they know their limits. I do this only because I know I’m able to do it and also my Artist is one of the few that likes to go late. I don’t mind and not afRaid to say when enough is enough. But also it’s hard to say that you should only sit for a certain amount of time because then you run into the touchy subject of time/money/availability of your artist

Worst I've had is after a few hours going up into my left armpit I was shaky and feeling a little nauseated. That's a boo boo spot up in there.

      @jameezybreezy9030 2 года назад

      The pain is different for everyone. The best thing is to just do it (with good preparation obviously) if that’s the spot you want to cover. My first tattoo was on my ribcage when I was 17, and the pain was okay. Everyone has a different body and pain tolerance. This may sound strange, but you can get used to the pain after a while (after “warming up” and not taking breaks constantly). You can even get sleepy…

      Everybody scared me to death on the ribs especially bc I’m extremely small (100 pounds) so no fat over my actual rib bones and it was a breeze The artist said it would take roughly 3 hours & he got it done in an hour & a half bc I didn’t need any breaks or anything. I’d rather take my entire ribs being covered again than a 10 minute tattoo I got on my back calf. My spine is even done & still the only tattoo I almost tapped out on was the calf.

My back isn’t done yet but I’ve had 2 more big sessions done and I haven’t had this happen again I fixed it by stay warm and get a lot more sleep since when that happened I was really cold and had only gotten like 5 hours of sleep.#Stay warm 😂

    I didn't get to the point of throwing up but I had the cold sweats and was shaking when I had my right arm done. Was getting lit up the whole time and just had to struggle through. Fortunately it was only 6 hours including breaks. came to find out later that apparently I'm allergic to red inks so maybe that had a little some to do with all the fun feels. The healing process absolutely sucked and almost a year later still waiting for the reaction to clear up so I can get it touched up with some pink / fuchsia tones.

    Would like to share my experience too: There was this artist from korea coming to Germany for a week and I was able to book with hin for a day. I came pretty prepared (enough sleep, good food, etc.). When we first started all was going fine, in the breaks I had some small snacks eg. Kitkat etc. - when we hit that 8 hour mark the pain really crept in on me and I tried breathing more heavily to compensate the pain.
    Went through it another 2 hours, so 10 hours of pure tattoo time. When I got up after we finished, my body started shaking and I got dizzy. Also I was sweating as if I ran a marathon but at the same time I was really cold. Had to jump into my car for a 8 hour ride back home, not the best Idea. Stopped at a gas station to get some fuel for the car and also for me, snacks, energy drinks etc.
    Looking back it was not the greatest idea to go 10 hours into an session for my second tattoo but otherwise I would have got to know this awesome artist from the other side of the world.
    I think it is true for our "hobby" to say that sometimes you have to go through some hard shit but in the end the people you meet, the time you have and the end result is absolutely worth it and I would do it again..

    I learned to eat the meal before my tattoo session as if it’s the only meal I’m going to eat for the day. So eat up!
    And i bring peanut butter and honey sandwiches with some bananas for my tattoo meal break. I rather I take natural sugar from honey and bananas rather than candy. And I bring beef jerky as my snack because protein gets u going! And I bring water and coconut water as my beverage of choice because coconut water is the natural sports water and it’s good for ur skin and aids in hydration.

    my last appointment i was getting some color work done on a piece i already had the line work in. about 2 hours in (ive had multiple 4+ hour sittings) my stomach started hurting. i started sweating really badly, and started getting light headed. my ears popped and i pretty much felt like i was going deaf, and my body went numb and i didnt even feel the needle. thankfully my artist noticed i was losing color in my face. He stopped and made me take a 15 minute break, i chugged my gatorade and i ended up being fine and went 4 more hours. I felt like i wanted to just fall asleep while it was going on. idk why but my shop was playing damn elevator music so it just had me zoning out. once i drank the gatorade and they put on some decent rock music it got me feeling more alert and again was fine the rest of the way. but man this was a shitty feeling, i felt pretty embarrassed. def hope i never go through this again.

    Yeah its very important take a Breakfast and having a launch during the session. I remember the first session I ate a schnitzel, drunk a coke everything went fine, second session I didn't do anything, didn't eat didn't drink and then bam, I ask my artist if he could stop for a moment cause I feel like a have to puke. He put up my legs , everything was turning like iam totally drunk and then he gave me a lot of sugarcubes with some drops of liquid from whatever it was on it. And after 45min we could go ahead. I still remember the last sentence of the manager from my last tattoo, nobody is eating before a tattoo and I said, I did cause I learned. Got a coke in my bag some little snacks and iam lucky that there are a lot of food shops a few meters away from the tattoo shop
