Since the shockwave would have to travel through some sort of medium to reach the station, that means that the explosion actually had to _consume_ the entire station for the people onboard to feel it. It would be so large that the blast radius, being several kilometers away, would have to reach and pass the command deck of that station.
it gives it the vibe of being something unbelievably volatile in a kinda weird extreme physics way. Like how a nuke is something qualitatively different to a conventional explosion, whatever is going on with that giant built up explosion is something different.

Kind of an ingenious strat by the Separatists. Even if the bomb didn't make its intended spot, the shrapnel alone could possibly cripple ships as well.
I'm just shocked how little the Separatists actually used the idea. Just grab a spare Munificent, fill whatever storage it has with Rhydonium, then ram it into whatever fleet they're battling. Instant win pretty much.
I know right, they obviously captured a ship that was already scheduled to be at the meeting, was able to mine the explosives from a remote planet with almost no republic presence. Then just send it to the meeting. There was no way for them to be able to stop the ship, it was too big and going to fast for them to get someone on board to deactivate the bomb, or stop the ship, or turn it around. Blowing it prematurely was the only way to stop it.

It's like calling in a nuke on the enemy position knowing that they might be able to deflect it.
Nothing like a massive explosion to liven up an otherwise boring strategy conference. I would not want to be part of the clean-up crew who will be dealing with that mess.

At 1:20 you can literally hear the ships frame rattle from the Shockwave, not to mention the entire ship barely being able to maintain it's course. Another demonstration of the power of this explosion was at 1:37 It shook the Station. All this combined with how the Venators immediately braced was perfect
For people that are blaming R2-D2 for that cruiser nearby being destroyed it wasn't R2's fault but the Commander droid. The bomb couldn't be defused so better to deny it earlier and have less casualties than max casualties. I love how realistic the explosion was that it came in shockwaves knocking clones and crew off their feet and even though the major ships survived a few smaller once were destroyed by the wreckage. Star Wars the clone wars always did it RIGHT
They do a really good job showing how if the explosion was any closer, the entire republic defensive line would have gotten completely annihilated, like the droid commander planned.

R2 truly was built like nothing else before or since. BB-8 is a close second for me.

Man, R2 was REALLY pushing his plot armor to its limits here.
Considering that a Venator is a small ship compared to the Empire’s smallest size Star destroyers, the power that this explosion represents is crazy. Imagine if they loaded up a super Star destroyer with this stuff and blew it up. 🥶
It does kinda say something about Anakin that after watching the destruction of several cruisers, with who knows how many people aboard, his first priority is to demand a salvage team go hunting for his 100% vaporised droid at ground zero.

Wait…. So how was dooku going to explain killing tarkin and Anakin to palpatine? In canon, dooku not only knew about tarkins importance, but even tried to hint that he and tarkin would end up serving the same person at the wars end.
Probably wasn't his strategy in the first place. One of the separatist commanders might've ordered this without consulting the higher ups.
I wish we could of seen the look on Palpatine's face when he realized what happened. His plans would of been screwed because of one robot acting on his own.
