It’s honestly incredible the Republic got as far as it did during the Clone Wars, even though Palpatine engineered a lot of it. This tactic of just storming a position that the enemy knows you’re going for, with gunships and carriers, is really stupid. I’m honestly surprised any ships made it to the LZ.
This sequence of shots references the D day landings in Saving Pvt. Ryan. This was absolute hell for the clones. Their first real test. Many shiny’s were lost.

Holy Shit that would be an Amazing Game…. 🥲 Battle of Geonosis is one of my Most Favorite Battles of the Clone Wars…
What I loved about clone wars as a kid was that they didn’t try to sugar coat war just because it was a kid show. We may not have seen the actual carnage of war but they never tried to hide in war people die & battle is brutal
Soooo....is orbital bombardment not a thing in StarWars? I get that the position they were trying to take was shielded, but they could at least soften up any static defenses the Geonosians had around that position.
It is but its generally frowned upon by the Jedi due to how massively destructive orbital bombardments can be. While yhe Republic does do it on occasion it's mostly the CIS who does it because they don't care about collateral damage. Orbital Bombardment becomes much more common during the Galactic Civil War Another complication is that Turbo Lasers are only effective in Orbital Bombardment if the Capital Ship is in the atmosphere, the sudden shift from vaccum to atmosphere saps the Turbo Laser of most of its power. If the Separatists have a fleet of their own contesting the Republic fleet then its entirely possible that the Republic is incapable of performing an orbital bombardment.
Note how every drop ship that didn’t have a Jedi in it immediately exploded when hit but when a Jedi’s drop ship got hit, one of the wings catches fire and they crash land
No preliminary bombardment. No fighter escort. It doesn’t even look like they did any proper reconnaissance before beginning the landing operations. And then there’s the fact that all of the crafter bunched up. I don’t know who was in charge of planning this invasion, but they clearly didn’t have a clue on what they were doing. I understand this invasion is apparently happening all over the planet but still.

I feel like there were a few tactical short sights in this battle. The biggest and most glaring of which is that they didn’t do an orbital bombardment first. If this invasion is meant to echo D Day in any sense, the allies at least launched with the cover of darkness and supported the infantry with cover fire from naval forces.
5:22 They've lost the spire!
Se me eriza la piel cada que veo la escena de "refuerzos, llegaron los refuerzos"
4:47 ww1 be like : first the infantry then the tanks
the blitz
Oh yes, the good shit.
This sequence of shots references the D day landings in Saving Pvt. Ryan. This was absolute hell for the clones. Their first real test. Many shiny’s were lost.
Being in one of those landing ships must be terrifying!
schau mir das jetzt zun 100sten mal an immer noch geil :D
Wish we could get a Dedicated Game with only the Battle of Geonsosis 1st and 2nd battle, a squad system similar to Republic Commando but you are just an average Clone Trooper or sergeant or captain (which ever) and just be like a grim and gritty tactical Squad Type of Shooter, if I mean dedicated game I mean Literally the Whole Game is about the battle of Geonosis you literally play Different clones from different generals and units etc so we could also experience those damn Caves the clones got lost and killed in imagine the game being gritty and Dark and you actually get to see the horrors of those damn Bugs…. Holy Shit that would be an Amazing Game…. 🥲
Battle of Geonosis is one of my Most Favorite Battles of the Clone Wars…
What I loved about clone wars as a kid was that they didn’t try to sugar coat war just because it was a kid show. We may not have seen the actual carnage of war but they never tried to hide in war people die & battle is brutal
*The best ep of the series along with the one that introduced the bad batch, simply note 10*
"Good things those bugs can't ai-"
Is just me or do the Y-wings sound like Stukas
An astounding number of war crimes in just 5 minutes.
This would go perfectly with the Helldivers 2 main theme
Soooo....is orbital bombardment not a thing in StarWars? I get that the position they were trying to take was shielded, but they could at least soften up any static defenses the Geonosians had around that position.
It is but its generally frowned upon by the Jedi due to how massively destructive orbital bombardments can be.
While yhe Republic does do it on occasion it's mostly the CIS who does it because they don't care about collateral damage.
Orbital Bombardment becomes much more common during the Galactic Civil War
Another complication is that Turbo Lasers are only effective in Orbital Bombardment if the Capital Ship is in the atmosphere, the sudden shift from vaccum to atmosphere saps the Turbo Laser of most of its power.
2:05 Should be a political statement against Mundi if he runs for politics.
*Good thing those bugs can’t aim*
If this were 2003 clone wars, they wouldn't even need the clones there - the Jedis can win by themselves.
I like that they gave the Y-wings Stuka sirens.
Someone really liked the Attack on Midgar from Dirge of Cerberus
Wish season 7 had more episodes.
With a little luck... there's no such thing as luck LOL nice edit
why did they do allat they legit have huge ships with massive cannons
No preliminary bombardment. No fighter escort. It doesn’t even look like they did any proper reconnaissance before beginning the landing operations. And then there’s the fact that all of the crafter bunched up.
I don’t know who was in charge of planning this invasion, but they clearly didn’t have a clue on what they were doing. I understand this invasion is apparently happening all over the planet but still.
What did the geonocians to the captured clones? We can see how some of them taken and fly with clones
With any luck, there is no such thing as luck
That‘s why they called 501st 👍🏻
If umbara was Vietnam, this was Afghanistan
smartest clone tactician
This kids, is why you try your best to achieve air superiority before even dare to attempt an air assault.
poor Rex gets tossed around the most of any clone
I'm just glad Ki-Adi-Mundi had strong plot armor and survived Order 66. (hehe)
Can you imagine trying what they did at teth with the vertical climb on geonosis?
Good thing those bugs can't aim...😂
Wait... so they didn't think to bring in the airforce before heavy bombardments and BEFORE landing the Army and Marines?
