Love the setup! Look forward to watching your trek. I just did a section hike from Big Bear (mile 266) to Silverwood Lake (mile 329). Great year to be hiking the PCT.
Hey :) I really love your videos. I wanted to ask (for a beginner ul hiker) if you can recommend any cheaper options for the tent and backpack (I am still a student, so my money is limited 😅)?
Hi! Glad to hear you like them! It depends a bit where you’re from. In Europe the 3F UL Lanshan is quite a lightweight and affordable tent if you want to have one that’s set up with trekking poles. Six moon designs also have some cheaper one. It really gets expensive when you want DCF but I think you don’t really need that. For the backpack you technically don’t need to go UL unless you really want to. If the rest of your kit is light, having a „traditional backpack“ could absolutely do it if you have one at home. You could also check out gossamer gear and liteway(in Europe).
@@helena_hikesThanks! Same to you 😊. I assume you’re doing a SOBO hike since you won’t be leaving for another two months? Edit: Ah, you are doing SOBO. I watched until the end haha. Maybe I’ll pass you on the trail at some point!
Hi! My baseweight is 5,5 kg, I’ve excluded the camera. You can also see it on my lighterpack. The link is also in the description: lighterpack.com/r/g2e82m

Habe sehr viele Deutsche getroffen. Wuensche dir ganz viel Spass!
They should be enough for what I’m doing. :-) When you are at a point where you need these, you will have to go down to lower elevation immediately. They’re not there for making you feel good at altitude, but for preventing possible damage to lungs and brain. If you have acute altitude sickness, you shouldn’t keep hiking. I could bring more but I think if I would reach a point where I’d need to take them I would make sure to not go to that altitude again or acclimatise properly.
I'm an InyoSAR volunteer. Absolutely do not follow this advice. Especially because you are going late in the season and I'm assuming solo? Relying on others that you may or may not encounter to have a satellite communicator if the need arises is stupid and potentially deadly.
@@dcl97 thank you for your comment! Yeah I’m definitely not going to leave my inreach at home just because a stranger on the internet told me I won’t need it! I would never go on any thru hike without it.
Wow! So excited for you to start the PCT! I had the best time hiking it!

Are you still hiking the PCT?
I am! Currently in NorCal! Already did over a 1000 miles
Wie ernährst du dich auf dem Trail? In deiner Packliste fehlt das ganze Essen und Trinken

Only two altitude sickness medication tablets? I feel like you should have more than that.

Sunglasses and a sit pad, maybe?

You should really leave the inreach+carabiner at home. You will be on a marked trail with lots of traffic/people.
The inreach is not for navigation :-)
