So serene and beauty. Cherish every moment. we don’t get very many opportunities to see such beauty.❤
That's so true! The Sierra is magical
@ I should be going this fall for the JMT. So excited.
Very nice video!
Thank you!! Very glad you enjoyed it :-)
Gosh, this video makes my heart so glad!
Ahhhh I‘m so so happy to hear that!!
Absolutely breathtaking! The Sierra Nevada has a way of humbling and inspiring all at once, and your storytelling captures that magic beautifully. Every frame feels like an adventure worth reliving! Count me as a new sub.
@@Zoomdak thank you so much! I found it so hard to capture how I felt when I was in the Sierra and I’m happy to hear people get that feeling when they watch :-) welcome to the channel hehe! 🤍
I really love it. Im from Indonesia, how to go there ? 😢
@@abdulholik1886 hey! I got there by thru hiking the Pacific Crest Trail, but if you’re interested in his section, you can check out the John Muir Trail! :-) it’s very far off the grid so plan for some time ;-)
@helena_hikes thank you helena. Dont forget to visit Indonesia. We have lot of mountains. 👍🏿
I ran 10 kms just to get to thousand island lake before it was too dark to take pictures. Shower Beer, Markes and me then heard strange noises throughout the night, probably a cougar, at least that's what we thought it was ^^ So hiking alone in this area in the dark definitely seems quite scary :D
@@Morphytravels it was probably worth running 10 k! omg I only heard a cougar once in the desert at night and it was probably the scariest sound I ever heard. Very happy they spared me on that day on the Sierra haha.
Your amazing videos really help to immortalize the amazing experience of hiking the PCT. You masterfully blend music, video and narration to capture your very personal experience on the hike. Looking forward to the last instalment. Kite🪁
Thank you so much, Kite! I’m so happy you enjoy the videos, I put a lot of effort in them! :-) thanks for being part of this amazing adventure.
I walked the PCT NOBO last year and the snow-covered peaks and the half-frozen lakes (among others) made the Sierra my favourite section by far! But those colours just make me want to go back and see it all over again in autumn...
I feel exactly the same - except, I want to come back to see the Sierra in snow! I think it’s a magical place, no matter the season. But I’m very happy we got to see it like this in good weather, off the peak-season…
Truly magical place. You captured it so well!
Fascinating to see the difference in snow/conditions between the NoBos and the SoBos. Beautiful video!!
@bberenson001 glad you enjoyed it! Yeah it’s SO different! Before I went there, I only knew the Sierra in snow from NOBO Videos. :-)
Your a big inspiration Helena, you manage to show the sierras in such a raw and beautiful way
@emilbratteberg1455 thank you so much! I’m so happy you liked it :-)
"Amazing video! I really enjoyed seeing this section of the Sierra Nevada through your lens. I actually went through this part southbound as well, and it brought back so many great memories. The scenery is just as breathtaking as I remember! Keep up the awesome work-looking forward to your next adventure!"
Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it! :-)
Thank you for bringing me some peacefulness 😊
I‘m so glad I could!
beautiful boy, you know it
Amazing adventure! Thanks for sharing.
@@ChadM10 glad you enjoyed it :-)
Activities like dancing and exploring new places increase dopamine release, making you feel excited and engaged. Low dopamine levels are linked to depression and lack of motivation -> so movement helps reignite joy and drive. Exposure to sunlight and physical activity increases serotonin, a neurotransmitter that regulates mood, sleep, and overall well-being. Low serotonin levels are linked to depression, anxiety, and fatigue -> so hiking and dancing outdoors naturally boost it. Exercise increases norepinephrine, a chemical that helps the brain manage stress. It enhances alertness, focus, and mental clarity, reducing brain fog and fatigue. Bottom line: go dance!!!!!! Be silly
Hi , like to ask what did you spend in the end for huts, food etc on the whole trail ?
Hi! I didn't track it in detail but I think for the whole trail probably around 1500 €!
You know Helena, if you had been a regular PCT 2024 hiking vlogger like Hiking Dancer, Life is Boujee, Travel Write Paint, Hammer Hikes, Lil Chaps,...etc, you might have received lots of virtual trail magic $'s for spending at townstops, or easily gain a few thousand new subscribers. We "PCT, AT and CDT trail watchers" are legions and cannot get enough of watching in "almost" real time as each hiker makes their way mile by mile each day from start to finish. Something to consider next time.
I chose to edit after the trail because it is very time consuming and while I’m out there I want to spend time with my friends and enjoy the trail. I uploaded shorts while I was on the hike which were „real time“ and regular updates on Instagram. I assume you didn’t see those. I don’t care about donations, I just want to share my passion for the outdoors. :-) thank you anyway for your comment.

This was end of August/early September :-)
@ ah I see awsome video. I was just wondering as I’m going out there this year .
@@Archonotrix are you hiking SOBO?
Not just the release time, but I believe you also screwed up the title 😂
@@_Terc_ you are absolutely correct sir.😂😂😂
Awesome video again, especially the end ❤
Thank you! 🥰❤️ glad you liked it! Hope you’re excited for the next 2 episodes hehe
As always you have created an awesome video, capturing the essence of this section masterfully. Congrats. Looking forward to the one about the Sierras. 🎉
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you liked it :-)
Cool video. where did you start the hike?
12th of July! I’d recommend going a bit earlier or a bit later though. This was the hottest month of the year 😅
Great video! I'd love to know what your start date was and some pace indicators eg. When did you finish Washington or reach the California border, the sierra and forester pass?
@@emmap8751 hey! Im glad you liked it :-) Canada: 2nd July. Oregon: 2nd August California border: 20th August. Forester Pass: 5th October. KMS: 9th October Mexico: 6th November
@@helena_hikesawesome thanks for the info. Looks like you had a few people around most of the way - nice to know that's possible vs the classic rhetoric of going SOBO = always being alone! 😁 Did you have to miss any sections with fires?
@@emmap8751 SOBOs definitely don’t have to be alone if they don’t want to! I missed a small part of Oregon due to a fire and then another small part of California. But overall missed less than most NOBOs that year :-)
Awesome, inspiring video! Do you know how old Kite was? I'm an older guy too, and wondering if I still have a cross country hike left in me.
@@danchapman8218 hey! Glad you enjoyed it :-) Kite was 57 or 58 (I forgot exactly) when we hiked. You definitely have! I met quite some older folks out there ☺️ a northbound hike will give you a bit of a longer time frame to hike the trail and also I met many people doing sections if the whole thing seems a bit scary :-)
amazing!
You have a talent for sharing your personal experience along with capturing the beauty of the PCT. As someone who began hiking in Yosemite nearly 70 years ago with my family and friends. That was the first of probably more than two dozen back country experiences. Three years ago did North Dome. Beautiful work!
Why did you choose SOBO instead of NOBO? Was it for any particular reason or was it just because that was when you had the opportunity to go?
@@tadghsmith1457 it worked out with my schedule but I also liked the idea that it was a little less social, I was excited to start in Washington and be in the desert when it’s not hot anymore. Overall it just seemed like the better way to me personally :-)
Beautiful video, thank you for sharing. A couple of questions if you don't mind since you did SOBO. When did you start and finish, was there a lot of snow in WA to deal with, were there any issues with high water in the Sierra's? Thanks again
@@Ludachris610 hey! Glad you liked it. I started on the first of July and finished 6th November. There was quite some snow in Washington, whether or not that’s a problem for someone is very personal. We met a lot of people quitting or turning around before touching the border, but me and my hiking partner found it not too bad as we have experience with backcountry skiing. Sure it is annoying and you have wet feet, but NOBOs also have that in the Sierra. :-) there was NO high water at all in the Sierra, I had to only take my shoes off once and that was because I missed the proper place to cross the river. It’s mostly rock hopping for SOBOs. :-) hope that helps!
@helena_hikes Thank You so much!!
Next project? Maybe something "easy" and doable in a grown up working life. Lycian way, gr20, GR221, West weg?
@@tifacoba I actually already did the GR11 and GR221. This year I want to hike the Alta Via and maybe join a friend for a section of the hexatrek. Nothing big for now :-)
"Is it a crater?" It's called crater lake..." 🤣 Helena, you're a Wizard
@@LukeBennett-y5w hahahahahha I also had to laugh so bad at that clip 😂
I start NOBO on April 16, and feel so many nerves and worries. But I come back to your vids, and they calm me down, and your soundtrack makes me cry. You capture the beauty of sharing good and bad moments with friends so perfectly. You are a treasure for sure. Thanks for creating these moments, and for sharing them with us :)
@@Anna-uh7qx I‘m so happy to hear that! For me these videos are so emotional too, because I am reliving those memories, but I’m so happy, I can bring the feeling across for others too. 🥹 I completely understand you’re worried about starting your hike. I felt exactly the same! You’re about to start a MASSIVE thing, it’s so normal to be nervous and worried. The hardest thing for me was starting. As soon as I took the first steps on the PCT, suddenly everything was so easy and natural. I hope you’ll have an amazing time on the PCT!!! I wish I could do it all again :-)
@@helena_hikes This helps me so much :) Thank-you, Helena. You the best!
I agree with you about Trail Angels not being a good "Trail Angel". Charging people for a ride is not being a trail angel, it is being a taxi.
