    Immense respect à tous ces pilotes d’avions qui combattent le feu. Deux d’entre eux y ont laissé leurs vies en Grèce récemment. Les soldats du feu, en l’air et sur terre seule leur guerre est juste et estimable. ❤

    If you watch footage on board you can see the crews’ heads pitch forward a little when the probes hit the water. One pilot, in training was advised just before contact with the water ‘now hang on tight to it…’
    In the film I watched there were three crew members on board, maybe for training? Incredible aircraft and very skillful pilots.

      There are two Martins left, neither are active or considered airworthy. One (Philippine Mars) was restored to it's 2nd World War configuration as a cargo plane and sent to a Navy museum in Florida about a decade ago, the other (Hawaii Mars) is on it's way to the B.C. Aviation Museum on Vancouver Island in its current configuration as a water bomber. Haven't seen them fly other than in videos but saw them on the ground and on the water, impressive big planes.

      Alberta as well. We have all of four old CL-215’s at our disposal, last year our county ALONE had more than 600,000 hectares burn. I was told that Bell 204’s with buckets are more effective… yeah I doubt it. Those choppers turnaround time with a bucket swinging underneath is ridiculous.

    First load was perfect, low like a smash of water, the second was a ineffective due to it release at too high an altitude. The water hangs in the air atomizing and spreading out. Misting the ground ineffectively.

    • @lengould9262
      @lengould9262 10 месяцев назад +5

      The plane usually drops 6,100 liters of water+retardant-if-used in pretty much 1 lump at like 220 kmh (other patterns available). The misting you see is just draining bits of water caught in drop door hinges, irrelevant. The main drop spreads along about 100 meters of path, about the width of a 2 lane road. No fire remains in the target area. If it hits you direct it will likely injure you so stay clear. Like getting hit with a 6 ton water tank at 200 kmh.

But when someone else needs help Is the aircraft undergoing repairs or is it occupied elsewhere. But if he manages to get there, the pilot decides not to put out the fire and goes back to Croatia. This is so dumb, our canadairs flew everywhere, from israel to portugal, two years ago when the fires were everywhere we sent one each to greece and turkey, if nowhere else they are in bosnia and montenegro every summer, you sound like a salty slovenian that is pissed off his country doesn't operate them.
      It is normal that often the weather envelope doesn't allow them to operate, nothing new, we also often have fires with jeavy winds when we can't do a thing about it.

      Also when they helped in israel, their pilots took a bow, and israeli pilots know their flying, but i'm sure canada has good pilots too, anyone operating these aircraft needs to be on the top of their game, ours are operated by the airforce, and average canadair pilot is in the rank of a major or colonel, guys that flew a lot in theit career.

    Spraying directly on the fire is just as important to minimize the spread of the fire,not just in the areas where it isn't burning.
