They fly those water bombers like fighters! Haven't seen them fly before today, only seen them taking off. Remarkable aircraft seldom seen at all below Canada.

If you watch footage on board you can see the crews’ heads pitch forward a little when the probes hit the water. One pilot, in training was advised just before contact with the water ‘now hang on tight to it…’ In the film I watched there were three crew members on board, maybe for training? Incredible aircraft and very skillful pilots.
Alberta as well. We have all of four old CL-215’s at our disposal, last year our county ALONE had more than 600,000 hectares burn. I was told that Bell 204’s with buckets are more effective… yeah I doubt it. Those choppers turnaround time with a bucket swinging underneath is ridiculous.
The CL 215, 215T and the 415 are very effective wildfire fighting aircraft. However the type of aircraft being used can depend on several factors such as terrain, type of vegetation burning, altitude where the target fire is burning and of course water availability such as streams or lakes nearby. Sometimes rotary wing or smaller fixed wing aircraft are the better choice to attack wildfires.
@Tax-Evasion-As-A-Sport The planes were made in Canada, but they were paid for with Croatian money, the pilots are Croatian and they work in Croatia, therefore they are Croatian planes!
I think the world's largest water bomber runs out of Canada.I think near Vancouver.Sorry if I'm wrong Great planes and wonderful Canadian tradition.Nice video,!!!! ✌️🇨🇦😎👍👍👍👍👍
There are two Martins left, neither are active or considered airworthy. One (Philippine Mars) was restored to it's 2nd World War configuration as a cargo plane and sent to a Navy museum in Florida about a decade ago, the other (Hawaii Mars) is on it's way to the B.C. Aviation Museum on Vancouver Island in its current configuration as a water bomber. Haven't seen them fly other than in videos but saw them on the ground and on the water, impressive big planes.
8:16 Maybe it's due to the weird depth perception, but that plane looks barely 10-15m off the ground 😧. 10:07 Same thing here but the opposite. It seems way higher than 30m (recommended dumping height) off the ground 🤔.
Those Electric lines and Lifts always look so close! They probably aren't, but still. The amount of obstacles like lines, lifts and people in the water those pilots have to avoid is insane!
Exactly! I was just about to post about this. How do the pilots see through such thick smoke and not collide with the electrical towers or get tangled in the cables? Amazing!
@ it’s probably a lot of briefing. From people who know the area. But the decisions are at last from the pilot them selfs. Either way. It’s an absolutely insane and awesome job they ALL do! If in air, ground or planning.
You know they have danger zone blasting in the cockpit while doing this😂. I spoke to a CL 415 pilot here in quebec years ago now when the qubec forestry services were at a career show. He was veteran RCAF pilot and he said he had more fun flying the CLs then in the airforce lol!
i have no knowledge of how this works, does that small amount of water do anything? what is the purpose? it looks like it vaporizes before reaching the ground? just curious.
The plane usually drops 6,100 liters of water+retardant-if-used in pretty much 1 lump at like 220 kmh (other patterns available). The misting you see is just draining bits of water caught in drop door hinges, irrelevant. The main drop spreads along about 100 meters of path, about the width of a 2 lane road. No fire remains in the target area. If it hits you direct it will likely injure you so stay clear. Like getting hit with a 6 ton water tank at 200 kmh.
These are great firefighting aircraft. The problem with most videos of them I've seen is the results of their drops are not shown, but they love showing the drops, just not the results, because the cameraman follows the plane away from the drop.
@@Wache3 they could fill just as fast as the CL415s, but were retired due to their age, and no availability of parts etc. they are nearly 80 years old.

When people ask me what's the difference between Canada and America... i always say the Bombers built here drop water.😂
Because usa has to protect them with real bombers.
And the ones that drop bombs you buy from us.
I’m not offended. 🤘🏼😁🇺🇸
America is a continent and Canada is a country located in the American continent. Sorry but that’s the correct difference.
It's an attempt to portray Canada as ultra peaceful. Yet. They too were heavily involved in "Bush's oil war". Hahahahaha...
