Nah if you want a Chinese watch just get one on alibaba. When I was a kid and didn’t have too much money I loved getting cheap Chinese watches. There’s really nothing wrong with the quartz movement, even a $6 Chinese watch can be fairly accurate. The problem is when brands try to sell that $6 for $200 without making any changes.

@@AlessandroGenTLe three of those are well known and i think squale is swiss, no need to be smug. i agree with the original commenter in that it would be more prestigious to claim to be a swiss or german watch brand than an italian one.
@@mitchaelhollingsworth1698 Squale (like Panerai) is swiss constructed, but the HQ is in Italy (Squale in Milan, Panerai in Florence) :) Locman too is interesting. They are based in Elba island and opened the "Scuola Italiana Orologeria" (Italian school of horology) there, where they produce in-house movements (actually a date/time automatic and a chrono/time/date automatic in their Montecristo line). But they seriously need to giveaway the quartz based watches and reposition themselves when it comes to mechanical ones. About watchmaking, of course now Swiss is more regarded than nearly any other country for movements (even tho they started back then to fake UK/French movements, more or less like China does now with Swiss ones), Italians are more famous for the design and are very strong in more heavy mechanical stuff like aerospace and cars/bikes :) Each his own.
I had a strange experience with them a year ago. Some marketing person reached out to me asking if I wanted to review their watch. I agreed but made them aware that I make honest reviews. All of a sudden they withdrew the offer to send in a watch and came up with some lame excuse. They do not accept honest reviews because honest means the lack of quality of their watches will be revealed.
I have been buying from Chinese manufacturers for 5 years. This is how they work. They make a production line and a design. They then try to take orders for future production runs. They take full payment first to pay for manufacturing overheads like materials, workers and even the factory rent. This means the company only has to invest 30% of production cost and they get there profit before the item has been made.

Good Job Ben. More videos need to be made about these Fashion Brands and the way they're tricking people into spending money on junk. This was informative with good evidence backing your video. Keep up the good work!

Call it something similar, I don't know Lorenzo Lanzini. It would take a bit of effort but it would be a laugh - next level trolling.

I personally have a Filippo Loreti watch. Paid $150 for their “2020 limited edition” (which is still on sale) in January 2020, received the watch in late July 2020. The watch is somewhat solid in quality but it’s under the build quality of my Orient, Seiko, Citizen and Bulova watches. I can say a Timex watch for $40 at Walmart has better quality than the Filippo Loreti watch I got. I wanted to try them out, all I got was a watch I can wear when I’m doing manual labor work.

On their second KickStarter, I initially backed it but quickly found out that these were made in China. They kicked me off the KickStarter page for bringing this to light and they refunded my money. Lo and behold, they accidentally still sent me the watch a few weeks later. It's not bad for a free watch!
Edit: I was stopped once on the street while wearing my Grand Seiko SBGA211 by a fellow fan of the art of horology who just wanted to tell me how much he loved the piece.
Lol just commented the same about my Seiko 5 Automatic. I often get comments from colleagues about it.
Italy has almost nothing to do with modern watch making, so why all the lusting after mythical "Italian" watches?
Locman, Meccaniche Veneziane, Panerai, UBoat, Squale, Unimatic, Anonimo, Bulgari, Giuliano Mazzuoli... When you don't know stuff, better to keep shut...
People strongly associate Italy with excellence in design and manufacturing, often for good reason, that's why they claim Italian heritage.
@@AlessandroGenTLe Um sweetie you're not winning over by being more smug and full of yourself than Napoleon Bonaparte :) Oof yikes not a good look 🤡😬
Your channel is growing fast! Good work, Ben! Greetings from Argentina.
You should not have warned them beforehand so you would have roasted them badly
The production quality on this video is top notch
Way better than production quality of Filippo Loretti watch😂
I have been buying from Chinese manufacturers for 5 years. This is how they work.
They make a production line and a design. They then try to take orders for future production runs. They take full payment first to pay for manufacturing overheads like materials, workers and even the factory rent.
This means the company only has to invest 30% of production cost and they get there profit before the item has been made.
Loving the Terms and Conditions - point 6.
"Must be spelt correctly"... and in the same point "...display the brand is a positive and favourable way at all times."
Classic.
Videos like this are why BWC is one of the best watches channel
10 years guarantee? Maybe you'll receive the watch about 10 years after purchase. Ridiculous company this is. Well done and great to see an honest video about this company
I get tons of fashion watches ads on Instagram, never heard of this one. Is it possible that they are not advertising in Italy because we could find this offensive? Or is it just happening to me?
I spend quite a lot of the year in Italy ( Ostia port and Rome center) and I have never seen that junk on anyones wrist.
Hands down the best investigative journalism I have seen on RUclips in a long time regarding watches. Well done for exposing this shameless fashion brand of scammers. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏👍
O boy let me get a coffe and a snack, finaly an honest “review” of this brand.
The name is reminiscent of the early 90's clothing brands that popped up all over the place 'Gallini' was one I think..don't think they fooled anyone. I'd rather buy a watch with Mascarpone on the dial😂
has a ring to it lmao the Mascarpone watch company
I'm waiting for a "Gorgonzola" cronograph
This is outrageous! I have seen their adverts on Instagram, never really liked their style, but if I would I could easily have been fooled into buying one. So thank you for this great video.
I'm Italian and I laughed so hard watching this.
There aren't so many real Italian brands. Many of them are just microbrand like "Meccaniche Veneziane" or "Vertigo Watches". However I suggest to check them out.
Trifoglio has some dope stuff you don't see everyday.
@@smashexentertainment676 Also Terra Cielo Mare had some cool pieces. Especially for aviation geeks
@@fedomandez idk, they remind me of U-Boat, not a fan 8))
Meccaniche Veneziane looks alright, Vertigo is too vintage for my taste. Seems like both share the same movement.
@@smashexentertainment676 they go for Nh35 and 2824 swiss clones (depa, stp)
I'm looking forward to the Orient review
Orient are very decent for the price point
@@Mint-cb2vc agreed, they're excellent especially when you consider the reasonable heritage, QC, reputation and completely in house from movement to watch they're incredible value but they do miss the mark sometimes even with they're more expensive pieces. Either way if you spend 3-400 on an orient, you know you're getting a lot for ya money but only the newer ones in my opinion, sure there are some nice vintages but most of them look far too dated imo 10 year's or later I'd say.
Darts bit is pure class 😂
BULLSEYE
P.S. This deserves a second post: Ben, you've outdone yourself with this video. Well done, mate
Well this is a coincidence, I've just uploaded a video on these recently myself.
Collab? 😆
@@the_9ent I wish. I don't have enough subscribers to be on his level.
@@HonestWatchReviewsHWR Only a matter of time mate 😉
Neat, you've finally got your Cat a watch to play with.
@@syndicatedsatellite7288 😆
Thanks for making this! They emailed me wanting me to promote their products in exchange for giving me free watches.... That email went straight to the trash
"people stop me in the streets", that's weird i have a vacheron constantin and no one's ever said a word about it.
Lucky bastard
Ha! If you're walking around the streets wearing a Vacheron Constantin and someone randomly stops you, chances are it's because they're about to mug you
@@LegioXIII-SPQR that'd be a shame as i'd have to ventilate the worthless thief, i carry a .45 at all times, m&p shield, powerful little bastard, bullet chambered, no one is taking a fucking dime from me.
@@silverghost4206 whats your email? i'll send you a picture
In all the time I've owned luxury watches I've only ever been complimented once and that was wearing a Cartier Santos. It was a shop assistant in Goldsmiths UK. Most people don't care
Filippo Loreti: We finna kill it in the watch game😝
Ben: Hold my Casio....
😂
Nope. Wrong. People will still fall for this scam.
I think another brand that falls under this category is Corniche, their watches are made in China with a $30 movement inside but they charge £400+
If a black Merc turns up and you get a knock at the door, don't answer. It'll be two brothers who want a word....Great video. Never got one for review because they always seems suspect. Glad I didn't!
Its a great watch and company. I have 15 watches from them and supremely happy with my return on investment. Italian or not Italian it more than meets the expectation.
Thank you so much for this video. It is the best thing that happened in 2020. I'm from Lithuania and we call them scammers here.
I just bought a Lorus titanium after watching one of your previous videos. Thanks for highlighting that one Ben!
Right on!
Me too!
Absolutely great content, thank you for putting so much effort into it, it's really appreciated!
Thanks for investigating and showing us the results. Very informative!
that mama mia threw me off balance but then ben puffing his musthace made me do a mental backflip
Fantastic Video Ben, I've been seeing the ads for months and instantly skip them as I know they are useless garbage, I'll take my Casio over them any day.
Thank you so much for doing this video Ben. I ordered a watch in August and still have not received it. I got the same response about it taking months for delivery, yet it was never mentioned at the time of purchase. Once I completed my sale I was under the impression I would have the watch within 3 weeks. Nothing yet and it's been three months.
1 year later, did you ever get the watch?
Great review and eye opener. Too much competition in the watch community equals more lies from fashion brands. Hate to say it, but the old, expensive, luxury watch brands are still the best bet. I think with RUclips micro-brands are given some life, and of course Kickstarter is a platform for anyone/any product. Buyers must beware and research.
Great video mate. There is no such thing as affordable luxury. If that's ever in the description or the advertising... walk away 😂
I was part of their first kickstart project but after delay again and again i cancelled my order and thank God got my money back. After repeated blocking their mails still every month i am receiving 10-12 promotion mails. No one give kind of discount which they provide and that make me suspicious.
Great job on this video. Your production value is excellent, the writing is interesting and the way you present it makes me want to know what happens next. Your previous ones weren't bad, but this is next level.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent insight and investigation. I'm sure you've saved people a lot of money. You've gained another subscriber and possible customer.
All the best from. Taos, New Mexico USA
Great video, and what a great production!
You have done a such great job analysing and exposing this brand and its dodgy (imo borderline illegal) business practice. Such a bold and brave attitude, just we really need! Great job Ben, please keep up the good work
13:17 The irony of misspelling "in" as "is" while insisting your affiliates have no misspellings in their ads....
I did not expect such a high-caliber video from a video about watches. I really thought this was gonna be you wearing the cheap Chinese watch and talking smack at it for 26 minutes straight . Yet I was stunned by the quality, almost reminded me of those other big name documentary RUclipsrs! Cant wait for more vids like this :D
Feels like a Ponzi scheme. Collect 5 million Euros, ship a few hundred watches every few months while continuing to collect new orders, generating enough income to fund a couple hundred watches a year while the brothers roll around Lithuania Mercedes-Benz auto, gold necklaces and track suits like their more influential Russian cousins.
Except Ponzi was an actual, italian 😂
I'm totally new to this channel and just trying to start getting into watches. This is probably the fourth or fifth video of yours I've seen, and immediately I could tell this had every single mark of a viral video. Its high quality, funny, drama. Its a sudo content cop, and I love it. It's a shame the algorithm never brought the the fame you deserved for this, so take my subscription.
Great job, editing on point!
What an excellent video! Bravo! Thank you sir!
This video needs a million views !! Educate those blind goers !!
23:00 this is true in my experience as well, nobody cares if it's a rolex, an omega or a Seiko. I've only ever received one compliment on any of my watches spontaneously and that was my seiko samurai. Never for my rolex or omega.
Cracking stuff, appreciated
Great video! I backed the orignal Kickstarter campaign and when the watch arrived, it just looked and felt cheap. Stopped working about 6 months later. Hung onto it and now I doubt I could give it away!
A detailed and insightful video. Well overdue to call out these ripoff Brand’s. Nice job.
this video really teach us how to recognize a ambush watch brand. it's so much better to expend your money on reliable brands as seiko and casio. thank you to help beginners to escape from products like these.
Great investigative piece! I saw a review of the brand on another watch channel this morning, but it seemed legit and the link featured did not appear to have affiliate coding in it. But definitely buyer beware, huh?! Wow. Sucks.
One of your best videos, absolutely loved the presentation
Glad you enjoyed it!
Good Job Ben.
More videos need to be made about these Fashion Brands and the way they're tricking people into spending money on junk.
This was informative with good evidence backing your video.
Keep up the good work!
Awesome job on the video! Bad business practices like this shouldn't be allowed
I don't know how they are still in business, it's truly crazy stuff
Internet Gurus And Overpriced Alibaba Garbage are the scams of this Age. Great Vid Ben keep up the good work
You should build a parody web site of an Imaginary brand showing how it actually all is: instead off all the fluff marketing, show the chinese factory and workers, shipping ports and marketers used to gear this company. Call it something similar, I don't know Lorenzo Lanzini. It would take a bit of effort but it would be a laugh - next level trolling.
Thumbs up for the mustachio’d Italian impression
What a scam! They are really milking the affiliates program and those shameless influencers are part of the deception. Which makes your channel, professionalism and objectivity such a reliable place for watch enthusiasts. Keep up the good work! (PS: Is it possible that they noticed your purchase, and hold on to it to avoid getting a (bad) review? well... glad it didn't deter you from investigating them!)
We ordered the watch under a pseudonym, to a different address, to avoid the possibility of the experience being affected by my 'RUclipsr' status - unsurprisingly, the watch never turned up
This is going to be 🔥
Shady fashion watches with their dubious claims need to be exposed more. Even more widely accepted brands like Fossil have terrible quality control and are massively overpriced when compared the likes of Casio and even Seiko.
i personnaly bought 2 FL watches and tbh and happy with it like the quality is good for the price and overall its a good looking watche
This is dishonest marketing indeed. It’s so italian we never heard about that brand in here, such a shame most people see watches as a fashion item instead of a practical use with memories. (of course the appearance has a strong importance but what I mean is NEVER follow trends)
Great video - great research, great script, great editing - thank you very much! Only downers were the four ads for fashion watches in between ;)
Thanks for that!
Bravo for the video! Hope it reaches a lot of watch enthusiasts. I'm sickened with these liars selling overpriced junk.
PS: absolutely mad video content! 😍👍🏿
It is enough for me to hear "luxury ITALIAN watches" and I don't listen any more! Italy never had its own watch brand not to mention "luxury"!
Very good analysis.
Excellent video, great editing and well explained, what's not to love ?
brilliant editing going on in this vid mate 😂
You should start a brand called Lorenzo Fillipi and start selling watches like the ones of this scammer but at a fraction of a price, advertising how cheap it is to use a miota movement and fit it into an alibaba wholesale watch
Excellent work, Ben.
Really enjoy the channel and thanks for calling out this nonsense brand. Stay well!
Thanks, will do!
