It's funny this video has come up because I had this exact dilemma back in June, I went for the 65 with the Bronze bezel in the end and I'm very happy with my decision.
I have the blue dial version of the Oris 65 and I love it. I currently have it on a black NATO. Great watch. I enjoy wearing it... no other reason needed.
Was on waiting list for BB58, 11months passed, tired of waiting I went to Oris Boutique Ldn, fell in love with and bought a 65 black/bronze. A week later the BB58’s in stock. Went to AD with full intention of walking out with BB58, i’d never seen a 58 in the metal and I was surprised that I didn’t love it. It was just ok, a bit chubby, a bit too blingy witch looses the genuine vintage vibe it’s aiming for. It is undoubtedly pretty and imo a better made watch, yet I walked out without it, after 11 months of waiting for it. I was left cold. The 65 nails the vintage diver aesthetics and is 100% the watch for me.
I want extremely disappointed with the bb58. I fell in love with the Oris diver 65 Bico and got one for $1200 pre-owned. That is 1/4 the price of the bb58. Also the bb58 is small on my wrist.
Oris 65 for me. I genuinely just prefer it out of those two, even setting aside the price difference, which is significant. I like how different it is to anything else, and love that lume.
i originally bought an Oris Aquis 39.5mm brushed black dial. loved it, wore it daily for 8 months. but i just sold it in favor of upgrading to a Tudor Black Bay steel exact as pictured in this video
Nothing to worry about with the crown. I’ve had my Oris 65 for a year now and it’s a real workhorse in and out of the water. I have an 18cm or 7 1/2 inch wrist and never feel the crown.
Love your channel. I was in the same dilemma a few months back and decided to buy an Oris 65 as the Black Bay 58 has a long waitlist and almost 3x more expensive. No regrets.
I had 79730 first and had left it in the box for 2 years. One day I wore it , I found it , a Chronometer, very accurately , and liked it very much . Please aware the other brands' submariner style mostly copying from Tudor Black Bay .
I've owned both on the rivet bracelet and as good as the Oris is, it did not compete with the Tudor. I still have the Black Bay and sold the Divers 65.
I don't like the original BB. but if we are talking about BB 58, then yes, BB 58 is worth the extra money. the specs, the styling, the build quality are significantly better. different styling tho, so if you like the styling on the 65, i'd say go for it.
I actually own both of those pieces and I'm afraid that there is nothing much to compare between those two; The feeling of the movement is much better on the Tudor indeed, meanwhile it's good enough on the Oris. The Oris feel lighter and more discreet, voire stealth, especially on a tropic strap, meanwhile the legibility is better on the Tudor. Both are excellent watches and I find the Oris much easier to wear under a sweater, daily, meanwhile the Tudor got less but much valuable wrist time. Both are keepers.
That exact Oris model was my first mechanical watch. I put it on a brown leather NATO, and it's amazing. Small and thin, it's incredibly comfortable, making it the perfect every day watch. It isn't flashy, and doesn't grab attention, but when you really look at it, the beauty is just stunning. I never got tired of looking at the shine of the hands under that domed sapphire. And the second hand is the smoothest I've ever seen, it really just glides.
Oris. Hands down. Fantastic brand; perfect image, esoteric, classy. I'd have a 65 and a Pro Pilot for the price of the Tudor and have every base covered. Peerless quality at the price point.
I have both this retro 65 and bb58. At a glance, they are on par. But upon closer look, tudor build quality is indeed superior, not to mention it's more dressy as well. I still prefer oris 65 dome crystal though
I have the Longines Legend Diver and love it. My next watch will be an Oris. I have no plans to get a Tudor. Most of the increased cost of the Tudor is due to all the marketing dollars they spend.
From someone who picked the Oris unseen and online after loving the cheaper package .. I can tell you after doubling the outlay and being completely happy with my purchase, the Tudor is ten times the Oris offering and I would urge anyone considering an Oris 65 to be patient and continue to save
My choice goes to the Tudor. Despite the possibility to set the selitta movement to an almost COSC setting, you get this with a Tudor. There is simply a step from ‚normal‘ to chronometer movements. Other watches to consider are rather standalone models without a heritage background but are nicely made divers. Certina DS Action Diver or Tag Heuer Aquaracer and many more. Things like the Housing, the Saphire crystal, the bracelet, the bezel and finally the movement make it a complete watch. Each part of the mentioned bits asks for craftsmanship and precision, hence a higher price. At some point the price is no longer driven by the value but by the market... saying this I think a Tudor is very good value for the money. (My opinion!)
2deep5u so because you buy a Tudor it means you don’t have money.... what about people who have both? What about people who are not into watches but have lots of money? Judging someone by their wealth or accessories is quite a sad thing....
I have 2 Black Bay watches from Tudor. The blue version and also the recent release of their GMT . I can't say enough about the build quality and precision of their 70 hour power reserve. Tudor hands down.
I owned the first Oris Diver 65 back in 2016 and two Black Bays which includes the Black Bay Steel which I still have. Sold the Oris long ago before I bought the Black Bays. I feel there is no competition at all, the Black Bays feel substantially better on the wrist.
I have a Black Bay Steel exactly like that one and I couldn't be happier. Coincidentally I also own an Oris - an older Artix GT, not a Sixty-Five - and while Oris offers great value for money the Sellita movement isn't that great. The BB was definitely worth it, I think.
What a tough decision to make. I get the feeling Oris depreciates with time while Tudor better preserves value. Although buying a watch should never be see as an "investment", it is always an expense. If you are here it is probably because we are facing the same dilemma. Do not buy the Oris just because it is "cheaper" but because you really like it and want to buy it. I will personally rather save a bit more and buy a Tudor Heritage Black Bay 36. It is priced at around $2,000 and lacks the "submarine" bezel. Or maybe the bronze version which has a beautiful vintage look and the numbered bezel. The bronze Tudor is priced above $3,000. As always, I highly recommend to get a good jewelry insurance so you can enjoy the watch with peace of mind. Any other watch more expensive than that would personally make me feel silly. It is an inefficient allocation of capital to have all that cash on your wrist when it can be invested on something that generates value or saved for something more important than a timepiece. I would leave the ultra luxury jewels for the ultra rich or the ultra dumb.
tudor dont preserve value that well either unless you buy used and most of the worse depreciation has already gone. I got 35% off RRP on a 30 week old black bay in good condition. The 1st owner took a big hit but i could probably keep it for 5 years and only lose a few hundred if kept in good condition that is.
What about Christopher Ward C65? It's manual wind but very thin for a divers. Great quality and even less expensive than the Oris. I'd love to see a review.
You probably can’t go wrong either way. There seems to be a curve that’s price vs what you get for your money. The price keeps going up at a phenomenal rate, but what you get for your additional money starts flattening out. Both of these watches are in the sweet spot.
I own the Oris divers 65 in a green dial and with much more downplayed applied markers. Love it but I am buying the Tudor BB in the red bezel because sometimes I want a change in color and their quality is high.
@@Wvk5zc Yeah, the Oris is beautiful, but, I understand that Oris didn't put as much attention to detail as in their Aquis line. It's a lower priced retro diver, but, not their main diver.
First time I saw the Oris in person was on a random guy at Starbucks. Bothered him for a look. Couldn't take my eyes off it. That crystal. Well you did it again, another fine video. I would suggest a diver I just bought but it's a bit more than the BB it's the Omega Seawater Pro diver. But I could argue for the money it's well worth considering.
I’ve only had mine a month and I love it. Wears so comfortable for how heavy it is it slides under a shirt cuff and it looks great with casual wear. What else would you need?
I sold my seamaster to buy an Oris aquis, the old seamaster looks too dated, the glossy dial seamaster isn't a real seamaster and the 2018 version is ugly and overpriced
I own the Tudor BB Steel. Went to the local shop to check out an Oris Aquis, rotated the bezel and immediately put it down. This whole time Oris was so hyped, then when I went to feel it I was left unimpressed. Tudor is a $9,000 feeling watch with $9,000 specs for $3900
Wow these are both gorgeous watches. It would be hard to choose. However, I think the Tudor would just edge out the Oris. In house movement, I think, is the deciding factor for this choice. Great video as always.
I couldnt decide and went and got both: Oris on the rubber tropic strap, the Tudor on the leather with the woven second strap. I switch out on which one id give up.... I love this version of the 65: the lume, the 60s retro numerals. The thin case make it a perfect daily that is different. I do wish oris had not 'built it to a price' as the weak bezel action, the all black bezel viewed side on looks cheap, and the dot detail on the sweeping second hand are 'off' to me. It doesnt line up with the indents on the watch face. The Tudor when handled back to back is a substantial block of metal. Much weightier. Its thick by design. Almost too thick for shirt/suits. Its the SUV that never sees dirt. But the gilt detail, the lovely bezel action, that movement. It oozes quality of build. Not a lot other than the thickness to fault. And that price of two oris's. And the 'sub omage' vibe Then theres the Longines Legend.......
Hey I would really appreciate it if you could make a review on the Stuhrling Original special reserve 657. (the silver with a white dial variant) I would really like to hear your thoughts. I have been watching a ton of your videos and would like to see how this brand compares Thank you
Do a review on the new Tudor Big Date. It needs some attention because it’s super cool and unheard of. Also, it’d be nice to know where the background music was sourced...actually just a reply of any kind would be great!
I am a proud owner of the divers 65. I chose it for monetary reasons but not compromising heritage and horology significance. But i would love to have a black bay as well or probably a tudor pelagos in the near future.
Love both watches and brands. I'd say yes it's worth the extra money compared to the 65 and no against the Oris Aquis. However, when you get into Black Bay territory you have Breitling Superocean 2 and Omega Seamaster as competition.
Oris for me any day. It’s just a far more interesting piece between the 2 being discussed . Saying that if it were my money I’d get a seiko marinemaster 300 over either of them in a heartbeat
Hello there, thank You for review! I'm currently suffering in the choice between Oris Divers Sixty-Five (733 7707 40 65 MB) and Tag Heuer Aquaracer Calibre 5 (WAY2012.BA0927). Oris is available at a cheaper price now by 750$ (sale discount) than TH. What would You recommend to choose?
Not really, overpriced, depreciate about 50% as soon as you leave the ad, the new one is ugly, the older ones look too dated and the gloss dial can't be considered a seamaster, the coaxial has issues and higher maintenance, no thanks
@@Chris-es3wf The new 8800 movement in the Seamaster 300M is thinner, and total thickness (13.7mm) is only around 1mm thicker than a Sub and thinner than many Black Bays. Don't confuse it with the Planet Oceans and the coaxial chronographs.

@@Chris-es3wf No i don't buy brand new cars, but I was just traying to make a point that in this situation Tudor is like a brand new car, Oris is a quality watch, I like it more subjectively, so the difference you can spend elsewhere... Ok you can invest the money you have left ;)
I have been researching them this past week...the red second hand and red date, make it stand out from other rolexes. The thunderbird gold and steel version looks so exquisite, wish it was 38/39mm rather than 36mm
I prefer the aesthetics of the Oris Divers Sixty-Five. That domes crystal really seems appealing especially because it's a sapphire crystal unlike its cheaper domed counterparts. I'd rather go for Oris and then save up for a Glashutte or GS than shelling out for Rolex or brands like it.
The BB featured here is my least favourite in the range, closely followed by the BB chronograph, therefore I’d go for the Oris of these two. If money were no issue, I’d go for the BB58, but both ranges are exceptional, and certainly offer great value.
Great video. My answer here would be no. Both are based around the eta 2824 (aside from the latest Black Bays of course). The Oris offers amazing value based around the sw200. The Tudor IMHO doesn’t stack well against the divers 65 but against a Rolex Sub, it’s a completely different story. The Tudors are fabulous watches with either old or new movements and offer even better value over time than the Oris but the Sixty-five holds its own in most cases. You could of course, do what I have done. Get one of each...
The Black Bay Steel isn't an ETA. In house movement and date function is specifically why I justified spending the extra cash for it rather than a Black Bay 41.
I have the Oris its a gorgeous watch but 38hr is a little tight. I like Tudor and want the boutique bronze is on my affordable grail list, but the Oris wins this particular fight for me!

And the 'sub omage' vibe
Then theres the Longines Legend.......
I'm looking at a different Oris model: Oris Big Crown ProPilot Big Date. ANy chance you have a review planned? I'd love to hear your opinion of it.
Hey I would really appreciate it if you could make a review on the Stuhrling Original special reserve 657. (the silver with a white dial variant) I would really like to hear your thoughts.
I have been watching a ton of your videos and would like to see how this brand compares
Thank you
Do a review on the new Tudor Big Date.
My only gripe with the Tudor in this video is the 12o’clock marker isn’t completely filled with lume..mmmmm...QC issue for sure.
Love both watches and brands. I'd say yes it's worth the extra money compared to the 65 and no against the Oris Aquis. However, when you get into Black Bay territory you have Breitling Superocean 2 and Omega Seamaster as competition.
Recently suggested that Oris to a guy in Reddit and he was super stunt by it.
What a great watch.
The Oris is on the top of my list but would also like a Black Bay in the future
seamaster 300m coaxial packs better value
Coaxial movements make all the cases like freakin' slabs. Way too thick.
You can buy three Oris divers for the price of a new Omega. It's not a fair comparison.
@@richardseekins24 I think this is in reference to the Tudor...
love vintage inspired watches and my grail of this type is the Bell & Ross WW2 Regulator, would you do a review or comparison on reuglator watches please as I would be facisnated to hear your take on the regulator movement and one of my grails!!!
I prefer the oris
What kind of lume does the Black Bay have?
Not worth it. Oris is a great watch and the extra money can go for nice dinner and a weekend in some spa ;)
Oris,!!! ouch,!! 🤮🤮🤮🤮
I'd rather skip the spa and the expensive dinner which aren't "worth it" to me to treat myself to the Tudor which I know I'll enjoy.
Dinner you will crap out the next day , Spa you will get tense and stressed after a few working days . The Tudor will be with you indefinitely.
Going out to expensive meals is the biggest waste of money. Next you'll tell us you buy cars brand new.
@@Chris-es3wf No i don't buy brand new cars, but I was just traying to make a point that in this situation Tudor is like a brand new car, Oris is a quality watch, I like it more subjectively, so the difference you can spend elsewhere... Ok you can invest the money you have left ;)
A video about the Rolex Turn-O-Graph would be nice! The first Rolex with a rotating bezel, which you can find now on the Submariner or GMT.
I have been researching them this past week...the red second hand and red date, make it stand out from other rolexes. The thunderbird gold and steel version looks so exquisite, wish it was 38/39mm rather than 36mm
Oris Diver 65 36mm (non bronze) video, where art thou? It is really hard to find a video on the 36mm
Could you please review Christopher Ward's SH21 inhouse movement watches?
I prefer the aesthetics of the Oris Divers Sixty-Five. That domes crystal really seems appealing especially because it's a sapphire crystal unlike its cheaper domed counterparts. I'd rather go for Oris and then save up for a Glashutte or GS than shelling out for Rolex or brands like it.
Great review, as always. I’m going to have to buy both for my collection now as I can’t decide between them!
Seiko SBDC051/053/061/063 and Squale 1521 for vintage auto divers
And what about the Seiko SPB079, Cheaper then the Oris, and inspired on the 6159, In house movement, dia shield, and better then the Oris. ?
Personally I would run right down the middle and get a Jean Richard Aquascope. Arguably better materials for the money.
Oris 65- Tudor black bay - Rolex submariner - blancpain fifty fathoms. All great watches for different budgets in ascending order.
Well put.
I bought an IWC Aquatimer 2000 titanium 35 years ocean. It's the perfect watch.
My 3 watch brands.... No peticular order.... Orient, omega, an oris...
That's mighty fine company.
The BB featured here is my least favourite in the range, closely followed by the BB chronograph, therefore I’d go for the Oris of these two.
If money were no issue, I’d go for the BB58, but both ranges are exceptional, and certainly offer great value.
This Oris Sixty-Five have the Red Rotor?
I dont like the big lume blocks at 3,6 and 9 on the Oris 65.....wish did not have them.I might buy one if they were absent.I own the Tudor....love it !
