    I remember the moment when I first bought it and went to my local swimming pool, had a very pleasant swimming time that day!

    Perfect. Good as it needs to be, and looks sensational. Proper black, and its own thing. Love it. I think it’s the elongated lugs, and the face. I just want one.

      I've told a few people now but I'm blown away with it after spending a month or so wearing it. Such a great watch and a fun one to wear too. Thanks Raymond!

    This is a great watch. Much prefer it to all the 65 models now with the common round indices which simply don’t work for me.
    It’s quite distinctive. Weird Oris, a great brand, killed it entirely.

      I think it's my favorite too. I do like some of the other models but this one is tops for me.

    This is such a great looking watch - the tropic strap is a perfect match.

      It is. Even though it goes so great on lots of straps when we went away a few days ago I had to put it back on the tropic for the vacation. Thanks Jeffrey:)

    Nice one Bob, never too late for a lovely piece like this.
    I let mine go last year and looking at it here again on your channel, it brings back some nice wrist wearing experiences
    Excellent review and spot on, especially with that lume and crystal 👍
    Be well mate

    Yes, I totally agree that it's a lovely looking watch, such a classic looking divers watch. Just love mine, the latter/newer version just aren't the same, have that 'certain something', that heritage watches have/need?

    Thanks for the input! I'm picking up one this week in Ottawa! Pretty pumped up. My usual threshold is $500 range so i'm always excited when able to pick one a little higher in the price range.

    Fantastic watch! I think I've decided that it will be my next watch. Perfect for a recent college grad. Any suggestions for typical problem areas to check when buying these diver 65 models 2nd hand?

    • @TimeToGoTravelAndTimepieces
      @TimeToGoTravelAndTimepieces  Год назад +1

      Other than condition I'd maybe ask the accuracy but otherwise it's a solid watch. I think if you buy from a reputable reseller you should be ok.

    My first "expensive" watch I bought a few years ago, at least the first time I went over $1000 Its design is really striking and my experience is very good bezel and crown and does between -5 and plus 5. It is a keeper

      My first "expensive" watch was my Aquis and I actually have a very similar experience with the accuracy too. I've had it over 5 years and it's been at around + 5 to 6 the entire time. Thanks Mark.

    Love the Oris brand, the two strap options totally changed the look! I can’t even decide which strap option looks better, both are amazing:)

    • @TimeToGoTravelAndTimepieces
      @TimeToGoTravelAndTimepieces  2 года назад

      Honestly I could have just kept going with strap options. I've probably tried 10 or so and they all look great. One of the best watches for strap pairings I own right now. Thanks and happy Saturday! 😁👍

      @@TimeToGoTravelAndTimepieces It’s probably one of the few watches that can pull off multiple strap options and still look amazing:) have a great weekend Bob:)

    • @MrBacchus18

      My favorite options are the bracelet which has an extreme taper, the tropic strap, and then a Crown & Buckle chevron strap. But it is pretty much a strap monster.

    Because of my wrist size (7-1/4 inches/ 18.5 cm), I have been more drawn to the 42 mm variants of the Sixty-Five. I tried one at an AD and instantly liked it, reminding me most of how a Speedmaster wears on my wrist. The thin case sides and domed crystal with the thin bezel likens to a rounded tablespoon of sugar. The only thing that prevented me from purchasing the watch at the time was the 21 mm lug width with the 42s. That would have greatly limited my ability to strap swaps easily.
    This 40 mm variant with the groovy 70s computer font numerals is probably easier to to use in everyday life because of the 20 mm lug width. It certainly is distinctive and and now that Seiko divers routinely push the $1000 mark, it makes the Oris competitive on the used market. I would take the 4 Hz Sellita SW-200 in the Sixty-Five over the 3 Hz 6R35 that Seiko routinely puts in their mid-range watches, even with less power reserve.
    The Diver Sixty-Five is a pretty good watch made by an independent Swiss company that one can appreciate for its willingness to look a bit different that most divers, which more often than not emulate the Rolex Submariner design aesthetic. There are definitely issues to contend with, like the shallower water resistance rating and lume that isn't anywhere close to being class-leading. But it is a nice, elegant watch with good-enough water resistance for 99% of us in the real world and has a quirkiness that watch enthusiasts can appreciate.

    • @TimeToGoTravelAndTimepieces
      @TimeToGoTravelAndTimepieces  2 года назад

      I always kind of leaned towards the 42mm as well and wasn't actively pursuing this model. It came to me by way of a trade that I'm really glad I ended up making.
      I had the watch on a recent trip and it worked just as great for the pool and beach as it did in the evenings for dinners. It's been fun making strap changes to dress it up or down. So far very happy with the watch even with it's flaws.
      Thanks Lee.

    I got one shortly after they came out and loved the look but I was generally underwhelmed by a number of things and almost immediately flipped it. I still love the looks and noticed they have discontinued this version. Strangely enough I was on Ebay yesterday looking at them. I'm on the fence between one of these and the equally vintagey(?) Zodiac super sea wolfe w the triangle markers. Price wise they're pretty close. Not sure which is a better choice !! Always enjoy your reviews 👍👍

  • @Visitor555
    @Visitor555 2 года назад +1

    One of the best looking watches, but im wondering how big brands can ask that much money for basic Sellita movement as you said not solid bezel action, wobble crown and bad lume, why then the price is 1500 euro, for what? Its crazy in what world we live the name sells even if quallity doesnt justify even 500 euro. New Glycine Combat Subs 39mm are with way better bezel action and better build for 1/3 of the price of this Oris.

    • @TimeToGoTravelAndTimepieces
      @TimeToGoTravelAndTimepieces  2 года назад +1

      Fair argument for sure. There's a few brands out there charging premiums with similar movements. Thanks for watching.

  • @r1pperuk
