Sounds to me like you are paying for manual polishing. If you manually polished a Selitta movement to the same level of the VC, would it be worth as much?
People saying £2000 pounds isn’t cheap and I understand that, but “cheap” is relative to all the other watches you can buy. It’s like saying a £20000 car is cheap and of course £20000 is a lot of money, but in relations to other cars its pretty cheap
I learn so much about horology from watching this channel. I've said it before, it's one of the best watch-related content on the internet. That being said, I will likely never buy any of the pieces here, as I feel they are far too expensive. I don't mean that as a slight on the brands at all. I believe that, to some, they must be worth what they are charging, given the expertise and time spent, and the prestige that comes with it. But to me, the differences, being microscopic, simply can't justify the exponential jump in price. I do enjoy looking at the pieces and learning about them though.
The dial on the VC is amazing, but that price is pushing it. If I had the money for one I'd go with the JLC instead, but who am I kidding, I'll never come close to even the Frederique Constant.
There will always be someone who will pay more for a watch just to say they can and you can't. If you can appreciate what you're wearing on your wrist regardless of how much it costs, that's what matters.
@Dawn Keebolz I think it will be that way for a long time. Since Richemont already bought this channel watchfinder. 😁 But it used to be a non biased channel for a long time. Until it was bought.

I consider it a form of jewelry that has a true function, telling the time. But that's just me. You may well view these watches as art, and the prices justified. I don't. Are you wrong? No. Am I wrong? No. Which is why I made the point in my op about personal opinions. All watches in this video are beautiful. How beautiful and how justified the price is, is all in the eye of the beholder
This was a great video. Though I am sure I will never buy watches like these learning more about what sets the apart is worthwhile.
The VC is a stunning watch, elegant simplicity on the face, and the movement is exquisite. £20k seems a bit of a bargain, relatively speaking of course.
Love your videos. Everyone a great story. The photography is top notch, exquisite finishes on all. The close in look on the FC was a surprise. It looked flat and featureless initially. Great work.
I just got my Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle, but the super macro video/photography in your video makes it look even better than it does in real life 😆
I just now became a fan of patterned watch dials. That Vacheron Constantin looks absolutely perfect
As some who has the FC (in rose gold) and the JLC MUT moon in steel.. The difference is absolutely night and day. The difference in quality and attention to detail is stark when you compare either the front or rear side by side
Trippy. Is anyone else seeing the brushed lines dancing at 4:58?
perfect narration, again. love it
Great Video!! Man I love those macro shots. JLC ultra moon is the pick of these watches - great balance of features and price. This is a great video to explain the finishes and why watches cost so much. That VC is amazing though!
Sounds to me like you are paying for manual polishing. If you manually polished a Selitta movement to the same level of the VC, would it be worth as much?
Your knowledge of timepieces is impeccable.
Saying that this video's title is "misleading" would be a gross understatement.
I can literally feel my credit score dropping just from watching this video...
Thank your this perspective!
Amazing video. So well explained and teaches you what to look for. Keep it up!
I think most would agree that anything above 1000 for a watch would not be considered cheap
There is not a day I would feel confident enough to wear that Vach without feeling sick with worry about damaging it. Great video by the way
Great job on this video, beautiful work, thank you.
People saying £2000 pounds isn’t cheap and I understand that, but “cheap” is relative to all the other watches you can buy. It’s like saying a £20000 car is cheap and of course £20000 is a lot of money, but in relations to other cars its pretty cheap
What a fantastic video to explain all of this!
i play your videos so i can fall asleep... that voice is soothing
But the question remains... Are those in house movements really accurate specially in a time of quartz and smart technologies?
One of the all time best watch videos
Try a Grand Seiko and see how well it can be compared to
That VC dial is hypnotizing
Always a stellar presentation. Thank You!
There will always be someone who will pay more for a watch just to say they can and you can't. If you can appreciate what you're wearing on your wrist regardless of how much it costs, that's what matters.
the dial and those polished beveled edges on that VC are off the chart, BUT i have to admit that JLC is mouth wateringley beautiful
Can we talk about how you lronounce jaeger please?
You did it again!! Great video, thats is why I love watches, hello from Peru 🇵🇪
Richemont watches for the win! Especially with this channel.
@Dawn Keebolz I think it will be that way for a long time. Since Richemont already bought this channel watchfinder. 😁
But it used to be a non biased channel for a long time. Until it was bought.
This channel is owned and run by Richemont
@@markshaw5504 Is this true? How do you know this?
Hazy Davy go to the Richemont website, select the media drop down tab. It clearly states this channel was a recent acquisition.
Do these modern hand winding mechanical watches have over wind protection?
Great video as always, but I don't think most people would consider $2000 to be cheap for a watch.
Review Bvlgari watches please (esp from a technical point of view and how it contrasts their perception of being jewellery pieces only). Thx
I don't know how, but you've turned somebody that could give two shits about watches into an obsessed connoisseur. Well done.
H. Moser & Cie, GF, AP, PP & ALS have the highest levels of finishing that I’ve seen so far. It’s like art 🖼 of highest quality that demands the highest prices
Bobby Sebastian PP and ALS are a level above all of them, but I agree nonetheless
Great video!! we need a 2nd video.😍
Excellent review, well done!
Does anyone notice the wobbly graining at 5min?!
The hand-wound vintage watch I’m currently wearing has the words ‘Timex’ and ‘Made in England’ on the dial. I wonder how much it would it would have originally cost?
I would very much like to see a presentation of I.W.C. wristwatches with some emphasis on the "Portuguese";
And thank you for your magnificent videos ...... very enlightening .......
