When I worked for Goldsmiths there was an old guy there who was 1 of the Rolex team. He wore a Tudor 79260 I asked him why not a Rolex he said “everybody knows Rolex, people who know Rolex know Tudor” and so began my fascination into watches and understanding the difference between customers and enthusiasts.
I equate Tudor to the scene in Gone in 60 Seconds where Nicolas Cage was talking about too many self indulgent wieners and eventually they get to Eleanor, “you wouldn’t be self indulgent sir, you’d be a connoisseur.”
Interesting to note, Rolex is registered as a Charity under the Wilsdorf Foundation as a Non-Profit; part of the reason why they are able to receive massive Tax-Cuts.
@@Alias_Anybody Point I was making is this, if you ever want to piss off a Rolex owner. Tell them they got their watch from a charity. However, technically I do believe Rolex is registered as a Non Profit to avoid paying larger sums of Taxes; the foundation being Privately held prevents auditors from regulating them to a severe extent. The nature of being a Swiss Business, much like Swiss Bank - Privacy of the utmost levels. Who knows what they do, apart from sponsoring Sports events.
You can do even more crazy stuff in Switzerland. You can build a Club, for instance a sportsclub or self-development club and this Club will not have to pay taxes at all. For instance FIFA is one of them. However, in Switzerland you pay income Tax. Your company is usually taxed very, very low = but when you get your paycheck.... Ok, to be honest, it’s still very low. Usually between 8% to around 35% of your income. However, if you would pay more then 1 Million in Taxes annually in Person you can always negotiate with the tax office about other forms of payment.

The Black Bay 58 was my first real introduction to the watch world.... Today. I commemorated a trip with my son to Paris and picked up the Blue 58, which I have wanted since 2021. I would love to have a date, but I'm also just so glad to have finally pulled the trigger on something I can hand down to my son. I'm a huge fan of Nico and have been researching and waiting for years to get my first watch and today was the day. I made $4k on Monday from a trade that had I not executed would have been gone. I was already looking at Tudor ADs here in Paris when Monday I woke up to a massive jump in stock price and I said, I'm taking profit. The amount I cleared was just enough to buy the watch and pocket another $1k. Very nice, I shared this moment with my son, he learned a bit about investing and not that this watch is an investment because it is not, but I definitely think it will hold its sentimental value and I hope to give it to him when he turns 18. And he loves it.
the editing has me dead (Grindr)!! I like this change up in the content where it is more educational, thank you Nico and team for this great video. I hope you have more of these (including your usual stuff)
