This was small and yet conceptually backed video. Thanks a lot for this beautifully crafted and articulated video on HIT. Thank you so much.

Patient is in Hypercoagulable state because of platelet activation and like you said she is forming lots of clots, therefor the patient is using up all of her platelets which will eventually lead to thrombocytopenia.

your video is great, but could you explain how exactly the pF4-heparin-IgG complex causes platelet activation? THX

IgG bound to the complex binds to a receptor on platelet thus activating it

@@nikitapatel8364 duh everbody know that...what receptor? What signaling cascade? Is the signaling to nucleaus? Because platelets are not true cells they are fragments...

What causes heparin to bind to PF4 rather than it normally activating ATII? If heparin binds to PF4, can it activate ATIII? Heparin is an anticoagulant, but in HIT it is procoagulant. What causes heparin to act the way it does?

My sister in-law was given heparin before going into heart surgery she had diabetes and shortly after receiving the heparin her hands and feet began to turn black with gangrene the doctors were late in catching the bad reaction and both her hands and feet had to be removed is this a common thing to happen?

why does the hapten-igG complex activates platlets. Does this complex damage blood vessels? thats why coagulation is initiated?

Can anyone please explain an alternate way on why the patient has Hypercoagulable state and Thrombocytopenia from HIT.
-- From my understanding, if platelets are activated --> clots than why "thrombocytopenia" leading to bleeding risk
    Thanks
