You kind of lost any credibility when you said they should at least hide keys for safe house generators in the house, then later complain that there are keys in houses that can easily be overlooked. Sounds like no matter what they did, you weren't going to like it.

Hope Lyon is fairing better, but most people won't realize Blade is being developed by different people and will just think of RedFall.

Bought Redfall as a christmas meme gift for myself.
Played the story and all major side content, and while it's now playable it still belongs into a 20€ bargain bin and is generally not worth it.
You don't need tell everyone that the game is fix and good now. They just need to make a good anime about this game and hire The Rock for the new DLC.

Oh. Yeah. The no talking crap in the game drove me nuts. They did not bother making the characters say some default dialog.

It seems like many modern character building shooters have only one or two who take the setting seriously, and the others are "comedic" caricatures of how high-schoolers are thought to act.
In Redfall's case it's extremely bad, playing Devinder or Layla is borderline unplayable for your first run, as even Devinder plays his character traits and profession as a complete joke constantly and just cannot take anything that happens around him as a fact, it feels so detached that all immersion is lost even though there are some very expertly crafted settings and scenarios sprinkled into the game.
I'm not defending the game but Arkane won't win in any scenario. If they stop supporting, people will bitch and cry about them abandoning the game. If they continue supporting then they still get people, bitching and crying about wasting time. No-Win situation. I agree they should just bite the bullet and move on.
I definitely agree, I mean people gave shit to BioWare for abandoning Anthem and they'd probably shit on Arkane for abandoning Redfall (at least, if they gave up back then). But the amount of people attached enough to redfall to care about it being abandoned is tiny in the grand scheme of things, and the current plan is to support this game for multiple years. All that time to "fix" a game they didn't even wanna make feels like an awfully tough position to put the studio in. Arkane Austin doesn't deserve to be relegated to Redfall fixes
They better learn from the Sean Murray's strategy. If your game is ruined at lawnch.
1-Be completely silence. Avoid pr and social media.
2-Make a huge list of all of defects your game have an order them from bigger to smaller.
3-Solve 60% of the list from bigger to smaller, plus new mechanics improving the game. No matter how much time it takes.
4-launch the upload, but still be silent in social media.
5-repeat steps 1 to 4 but solve 80% of the list and start making presence in social media.

The great thing about it being on GP is that they have a lot of time to work on it like they did for SOT and Fallout 76, maybe one day it will actually be good.

after watching your vid, i just have to say that it is a real shame the game is so fundamentally broken. because it visually looks so good. the guns look cool, enemies look real good. even the environment looks awesome. it just looks boring and broken. so sad.

This is another one of those games that I am glad I didn't allow the masses to turn me away from. I waited to play it and decided I am going to go with my instincts and holy crap whatta ya know. I end up having a great time and enjoyed the game.
Redfall was a game that met my expectations and exceeded absolutely none of them. Glad it finally got a 60fps patch, but it's gonna need a LOT more content and features if they really want it to be "a game people play for 10 years" like Pete Hines wants it to be.

Personally, the writers for this game should all be fired. Anyone in charge of dialogue, writing, even those who designed the character 'personalities' should be gotten rid of. They tried to make a 'Borderlands' tongue in cheek style of game; but the reality is that Borderlands got CRINGE extremely fast after the first game. The first game atleast had a serious story with some humor tossed in; but once two rolled through it just started to get stupid and obnoxious.
That's how this game feels at times; stupid. They're trying to present a potentially world-ending event that you're at the very epicenter of it's start; entire families and children leaving behind notes and being eaten alive, and then the characters run around making funny quips as if it's just a regular day?
They had no clue where they were going with this; had they taken the story and the content into a more serious tone, but kept the graphic style, it would have a pretty great experience. It just feels like you're playing through a really bad 80's shlock horror film where there's too much comedic humor that isn't matching the visceral violence being depicted.
It's just an entire level of disconnect that they can't fix, because it would require an entire re-write, re-doing all the voice lines; and that's not even touching on the 'puzzle solving' touched on in this video. They shit the bed on this one, the least they can do is change the sheets and do better next time.
Funny enough I warned my 20-something nephews not to pre-order this due to all the red-flags being lit off about it in the gaming press and the game just not 'feeling right' when we'd see the same trailers and no one actually sitting down and giving actual solid 15-20 minute gameplay.
The writing was on the wall before it's release, and the fact that they had people flown out to play it; but wouldn't let those people record gameplay to show on their youtube channels or twitch streams tells you all you need to know about the developer and the publisher; take what they make with a grain of salt, don't pre-order from them again and make them EARN your money by making a viable product on day one, NOT eight months after release.
So I played this game and within 30 in-game feet I found two dead bodies white females they were the exact same in every way in the opening sequence
For someone who is adamant to not waste my time on this game, I sure have watched dozens of hours of people dunking on it. More please!

They should stop trying to fix a game that’s just not good at its core, taking the L and moving on to the next project would be a better use of their effort.

@@brots3Comparing it to Prey, Dishonored, or even Deathloop, the gameplay loop is not satisfying and I did not want to come back after 1 hour of play. There’s no fun dialogue or story beats to look forward to, the world is not visually interesting, and the shooting/powers did not interest me. This game doesn’t represent the studio well, and I think it’s not worth the time to play or continue development on.

The original premise of the game had such potential and I was really hyped for it before release, thankfully I did the prudent thing and waited for reviews to come in because the "game" was completely fumbled and it's such a waste of potential and talent, it's a tragedy.

This game bummed me out so much. This is the exact type of game I love the most so I was really really hopeful of it being good. I don't preorder or buy any game until after it releases now and I am glad I don't. I dodged the bullet of Redfall because of it even though it was the perfect up my alley game. I don't buy any game that does exclusivity deals either. There's never been a time I have regretted not buying a game but there are plenty that I have regretted buying.
I really wanted it to be good but looks like they can't fix it.

They majorly undated the difficulty to the point people are complaining I ran into 13 enemies at once and got mowed down now since damage they do takes away like 10% to 20% damage a hit with best legendary trinket. They upped the amount of people in the world which now questions how many people lived on that island the building suggest at most a couple thousand but now you will run into about that many cultists now making me wonder where they all came from. My friend needed help on easiest difficulty since he couldn't beat the first boss due to difficulty on easiest. difficulty. I do agree the lore isn't the best you don't get the lore until you start collecting each of the grave locks for lore and there are 100 of those. Shotguns do suck i never use them since the the damage they deal little damage even up close. Vampires will deal about 25 to 50% damage a hit now. I used to be able to do hardest difficulty easily now it's now down right impossible solo to the point people are now posting group recruitments to try and beat eclipse. It still lacks a lot but you do get a lot different dialogue with higher trust. The AI has been really upped they finally fixed it but went overboard they know where you are and actually know how to use a gun now. Going into it i thought the vampires would be rarer and tougher they used to be extremely easy until you get to the specials and are so common i wonder how if they need to feed. I know they have blood bags but they haven't explained anything about them. The whole thing with lore where you have to collect 100 items around the map which took me a couple hours just to get the story was overboard and all of the stupid notes i ran across that its like why should i care about a shopping list and one which was just a list of 80s songs its like why should i care what music this dead person listened to. The most annoying thing is multiplayer characters wanting to basically hold hands in same house you hear them say things like we are too far away we should stick together over and over I just want them to shut up over that. If I consider this to their other games it lacks so much Dishonored was good Prey was great and then they come out with a broken game but they promised two heroes that haven't been added in and since they sold those packages they have to at least support it till those are out who knows they may pull off a no man's sky or a fallout 76 which started out as just plain out horrible games but i would say are actually good now.

Okay real comment because putting more hours into this was mad: I freaking hate those "hey bad game wasn't that bad really" articles. People are so used to every bad AAA being popular that when one's not making it into the hall of fame, they inevitably get picked up by the low standard curious people that will find anything nice to say about them. It's already a miracle that games like Forespoken can mess up their marketing so much that nobody even cares about trying them (while usually bad AAAs get the "I'll get them at half price" treatment), don't try to bring them back!!

Part of me is ok with it cause like, if people enjoy things they should enjoy things. I don't want to tell people to NOT enjoy redfall, if they do then good for them. I can see what you mean, some of the takes to that end can be a little frustrating to engage with but at the end of the day, I say more power to the dude that wrote that redfall article. My main motivation for the video personally was trying to see if it was accurate at all to my experience + talk about how ridiculous it is that the game is still being supported when they should just move on

Stop killing the game, allow the dev to fix it, let them fix it, I bought it, and I want them to make it even better. Stop being a Playstation fan boy. They also promise offline want that whenever it becomes available.

It needs more cannon fodder enemies like humans drained of blood everywhere (zombies more or less). It needs better movement like a parachute to float around. It needs crafting, grenades, body armor, better skills, more heroes (blade as a cameo would be sick), and ways to upgrade legendary guns. The world and setting is sick but the game feels empty still. Its worth the work imo. I see the potential.

Just 6 mins of this video and im not going to play this. I got all the content and playing Rage 2 ( I know im late to the party on that one. Was playing only Destiny 2 for the past idk how many years and im sick of Bungie which is a different topic but im catching up on all the games I missed ) and heard about this game and was hoping it would be like Rage 2 because I am loving that one but YIKES. This one doesnt look like its worth anyones time. I am looking forward to Vampire Bloodlines 2 whenever that one comes out. Looks sick as hell from the trailer.

This game would need to be remade as a different project in order to be good. The best it can hope for, after a lot of additional *competent* redesign, time and talent is put into it, is to *maybe* be just shy of mid.

The poor save state system of Redfall. Another reason I don't like multiplayer and co-op projects. They aren't balanced for solo play. Most multiplayer titles have a built-in shelf life. They're ticking time bombs. There are no local servers or bots (or often decent AI). I don't think this should be allowed. When the servers shut down, there goes your money. It's happening every day.
