Digitech GSP1101 | Improve Tone | Quick Trick ? |

Is this a 'hidden' feature to improve the tone on your Digitech GSP 1101 ?
Try this little trick - very simple and quick.
No extra hardware required.

I definitely found that for sure, even if compressor is off , also the lpf should be turned on of using the IR in the gsp1101. If you are using custom IR you shouldn’t need to do it

The Digitech GSP1101 and the GNX4 are both very underrated. There are a surprising number of mods and tweaks that you can do with both these effects units. The GNX4 has a bunch of onboard utilities; looper, vocoder, sequencer, recorder and drum machine. The quality of the effects range from very good to excellent. These units are both very tweak-able secret weapons when you're looking for sounds that are unusual but don't get lost in the mix

I tried this, and what I found out is that it seems to apply a compression to the signal. You lose dynamics. But this is great info!

The Sparkle Drive does the same thing in front of the amp. Turn the Clean all the way up and crank the output. Just a little extra punch to make it feel more alive. Either one of these tricks is just a kick in the signal level.

I don’t use any of the tones or cabinets on mine. It doesn’t show the Compressor Pre or Post option. I wonder if it’s cause it’s setup with the four cable method

You need to have the C63 update installed to have the option

There’s another trick to clean up the sound , just make the compressor is on regardless of routing or even if you have all the controls at 0. Much better.

You may have to update the firmware of your unit to mustbeta c63. The folks at the GSP 1101 Facebook group can help. The required files are all there.

Perhaps it runs a diffrent firmware version than used in this video. Try looking at digitech's site for firmware updates to the GSP.

Yes Ethan, you'll need the C63 update to do the pre-post compressor position change. On Fb there's a great GSP1101 users page where you can score the update, it's in the files section. Good luck bro.

I’ve got an HX Effects and Stomp and I still use my 1101 lol. The Univibe and Flanger can’t be matched. Plus I use it as a loop switcher to go between 2 preamps.

@@FranciscoYosoresloop control. Put a preamp in left loop or pedal and one in the right loop and save. You can set a midi cc to switch between in the same patch or just change patches.

@@FranciscoYosores There's 2 loops, left and right. Just set loop as active and choose which loop per patch. Or use the Control button on Control 2 or a midi CC# to switch them manually.
