- I've never had the balance, stamina, or sheer guts to run, jump, and parkour like people do in those amazing videos - but I'm TOTALLY down for trying it in a video game! Typically, you watch these people do amazing acrobatical moves with the fluidity of smooth running water, but brace yourself... I am not that! I'm more likely to look like a wrecking-ball going through a glass-maze...lol, but we're gonna have a great time either way.
I really hope you have an awesome time with me, and if you do, it would be amazing if you'd consider subscribing.
Thanks,

What a surprise, seeing another certified banger pop up in the feed :) This may be from the Xbox 360 era, but boy do those visuals and music tracks still hold up brilliantly today.
The controls will take some getting used to but you'll get the hang of it after putting more time in. Remember, you want to hold your duck button just before hitting the ground in order to perform a skill roll.
Btw, you may want to revise the thumbnail. Your current one is actually using an image from Mirror's Edge Catalyst (2016) but if you search Mirror's Edge 2008 you should get some good results. Just to avoid confusion!
One more thing, just a fun little secret - if at any time you jump forward, hit a 180, and then do a melee attack as you're falling, Faith will perform a rude gesture! You have to be quick, but slow-mo can help you accomplish this.
Oh man - thanks for the heads up on the thumbnail... I did find a few images when I typed in Mirror's Edge, and I was like "Ah yeah - that looks amazing!"...lol, but I don't want to be using the wrong game image. I'll definitely get that swapped out. Also appreciate the control tips... as well as have to check out the rude gesture you mentioned...lol.
The soundtrack and colour palet in this game are truly beautiful. Another classic!
Remember, look for the RED things, these are things you can climb/jump/slide/etc. on.
I agree, the color pallet in this game is fantastic... each new area being coated in it's own saturated brightness!
this game's intro music lives rent free in my head all these years later. can't wait to see you finish this one!
remember, the flow highlights a path for you with red objects, but it's not always the fastest/safest/cool(est) path.
Appreciate the tip Lilsyrup - my hope is, as I get better at the controls, to try to go the 'cooler' paths. ;-)
I could never be a runner like Faith . My fear of heights would get me killed .
I’m excited to watch this playthrough. I haven’t played this game personally but the parkour reminds me a lot of Dying Light’s parkour.
I have mixed feelings about this game by the time it's over... some high highs (pun intended...lol) and low lows.
Woah this came out of nowhere, Great to be seeing you play this awesome game Ben!
Controller is fine, I've beat it with both Keyboard as well, still a great Parkour experience either way. Probably easier with all the buttons close together too.
Game looks breathtaking still, that art style looks modern and amazing even 15 years later.
The soundtrack in this game is timeless, Solar Fields did such a great job making the world feel alive.
I have nothing but praise for this game as you can tell lol
You'll get the hang (ha ha) of it soon, takes some getting used to for sure.
Thanks Isaac, appreciate that. Looking to boot this back up tonight, so hopefully I do a little better with the controls. I rewatched the tutorial section of the game during editing, so hopefully help me remember a little better. :-)
Don't worry, almost everyone's first time in this game was remembering the controls, raise legs, roll for landing, quick turn around, all with regular jumping, Crouch/Crouch sliding and a button for slamming open doors?
It's a lot, especially while trying to figure out your jumping distance, momentum buildup time, and then attacks and disarming.
Appreciate that Chris.
@@BenjamightGaming in fact, I had totally forgot there was a raise legs button, and wonder if that's why I never finished the game xD
Bunch of tight jumps I got frustrated at not making, forgetting there was a button to raise legs.
And not only all these controls, but on the fly, seeing a wall you need to wall run on, or seeing two ledges adjacent, and having 1.75 seconds to realise you need to jump, turn around, and then jump again, without losing momentum, like no joke, the game starts with a pretty steep learning curve compared to most games.
But like you said, those moments when you remember the buttons, and pull off 3-4 moves in a row, it's a pretty awesome feeling.
I could totally understand that. Hopefully I'll begin to click with the controls soon - and won't have any more game crashes. ;-)
This game was ahead of its time. It’s just so good.
There were some aspects of this game I loved, and others I really didn't like. I give my opinions along the way though, and definitely a more in depth final thoughts in the last video.
Crouch is the roll button right before you hit the ground, the window of rolling successfully is very small
13:30 I was waiting for you to shoot celeste >:(
lol - knowing what I know now, I probably should have. ;-)
i love watching people play this game and find the story very interesting but never played it because i have a fear of heights and you falling wasn't helping
Yeah, I bet this would be hard to play with that fear... could you imagine this in VR? That would be nuts!
