This is a genuine Super Sport with factory colors. #s matching motor and 4-speed trans. 1 owner the last 17 years. He took it to the Vintage Chevy Club of America's 100th anniversary Of the Chevy show and won a 2nd place in the preservation class. This is not a body or frame restored car but it is an 88,000 mile car that's been very well cared for and restored as needed.
EXTERIOR: The body is really straight and it fits exceptionally well, the doors shut like a new car. Although the car is very solid, there are a few small bubbles down low. It is repainted it's original Palomar Red color. The paint is over 20 years old and it still presents itself beautifully. It's laid out evenly, it's all one color with a very smooth glossy finish. Overall the trim and chrome is straight and shiny with just mild wear. The SS trim includes the machine turned inserts down the sides and on the tail panel. It has a rear mount antenna. The correct SS hubcaps are in very good shape. The tires are custom made BFGs with the proper size white stripes. The weatherstrips are all very good. It has original glass.
INTERIOR: The interior is very nice unabused, original condition. I'm looking at a sparkling clean dash. It has the optional dash pad, machine turned trim and original AM radio. Everything looks great including the knobs, heater controls, glovebox liner and gaugs. It has a factory tachometer because it's a 4-speed car. Down on the floor is new black carpet. The original console has the correct shifter. The upholstery looks great. The driver seat has a split seam, cushions are weak. Door panels are excellent. The headliner and visors with stars look new. It has deluxe seatbelts in front. The interior lights work.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Original 327-300 hp engine. It is VIN # matching, the casting codes and dates all lines up properly. The optional 300 hp includes a little hotter cam, four barrel carb and dual exhaust. This one is upgraded with an Edelbrock carb. The master cylinder was upgraded with a dual reservoir for safety. Everything looks clean and proper. Nice Chevy orange on the motor, correct fuel line with the glass filter and the choke tube is hooked up. It has the heat shields around the spark plugs. Reproduction GM hoses and spring clamp battery cables. The battery is properly secured, it has both horns, squirters are hooked up, alternator looks like new, it has hood insulation.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It is clean and complete. Under the trunk lid and the jamb are painted very nice. It has reproduction mats and sticker. Complete jack assembly and the spare is a 5th tire that matches the others.
UNDERSIDE: The previous owner had the front end steering and suspension rebuilt. It actually still has the original spiral shocks in back! New stainless exhaust system with an X-pipe and Flowmaster FX mufflers. It has factory drum brakes, the previous owner had them rebuilt. We put a new fuel sending unit in the tank. It appears to have all original rock solid floors, braces etc. Looking up at the motor it is fresh Chevy Orange, the starter and fuel pump looks fresh. It has it's original VIN number matching Muncie 4-speed trans. Original rear end with 3.36 gears.
SERVICE: We inspected the car and repaired the window regulator, reverse lights and the wire to the voltage regulator. We adjusted the carb and the timing, tightened the valve covers. Replaced the proportioning valve, tachometer, fuel gauge and sending unit.
This is a clean, honest, unabused Super Sport. The #s matching 327 and 4-speed make it very desirable and rare which equals investment!

Here is how I remember the tach's. It was standard on all 4 speeds with 300 or more horsepower. It was an option on the 250 horse motor cars with a 4 speed. IIRC, you could order it on a power glide car at extra cost as well.

Awesome 64 SS. A buddy bought a 64 Impala SS with this same 327 and 4 spd. in around 1968. No great speed demonstration, but loads of fun to cruise in. Here's a car that will no doubt, we'll cared for and maintained, appreciate in value. Love this color! Another friend ordered one new this color (327 with 3 spd. column shift) ... These cars were great at giving many years of dependable service. Love seeing these original cars kept this nicely! Kudos to both of the previous owners for loving this car as they obviously did.
To add a note, watching her spin under the lights, I had never noticed until now how much the 64 Impala resembles the styling of her sister Pontiac.

Had a black 63 SS 327 300HP wide ratio Borg Warner T 10 4 speed with a 355 posi. Ran really good. No, it wasn't going to beat a big block Chevelle or GTO but it was not a sled or slow by any means. Got a rush every time that Carter AFB was wide open throttle and slamming through the gears chirping the tires on every shift.
