Nice video! Brought back a lot of memories. When I came home in 1974 from my tour of duty in the USMC, I needed a car. A local dealer [who had died in 1966] wife had died and there was an estate sale. In the estate was included his personal 1963 Impala SS convertible. I went to the auction with all my gusto to buy that car. It was white, with a tan top and interior and a 4-gear. It had A/C, so I figured it was a small block. Long story short, I wound up with the car. It had less than 20K on the clock and was a 425HP 409 car. The original owner owned a big Chevrolet dealer. When the beast arrived, he had his guys in the shop set about the engine brackets for A/C compressor by Frigidaire, as well as all the other components. A/C was available as a 409 option, just not for the 425HP. A one of none A/C equipped 425/409 was born in his dealership. The car had power windows, power steering and manual brakes. Wish I'd kept that one...
Great video..my dad also bought a 64 Impala when he was 17 in 1964 and its also still in the family. 283 but still a family story. Nearly 450 thousand miles. 350 now but still...its a 64 impala :)

Lou this is what My Car Story is all about. What an episode! An unusually optioned desiriable car, still in unbelievable original condition, still with the original owner, and fantastic stories to go with it. Grand Slam! Other than the incredible induction noise that 409 made when you got your foot into it, the best part was how Rick ordered seat belts, but deleted the outside rearview mirror! That car needs to be at MCACN. This video is a 10 out 10 Lou!!

A friend in high school had a 64 in the same color combo, but was just an Impala hard top with a 327 and 4 speed. His had Keystone Classics with white letters and the must have back then, dual glass packs. :) Funny how seeing a car can take you back to such great times and memories. Thanks for sharing Lou. You hit 'er out of the ballpark again Lou! I always loved the '61-'64 409's with dual quad and 4 speed. In fact I was drooling over a '63 Bel Air with the same set up that I saw for sale in a collector book. Black with red interior. I love the back story too in this episode, very interesting and enlightening!

Thank you for making my evening. This brought back so many memories. I had a 2 door hardtop SS with 409 - 340 hp. I could get rubber in all 4 gears . That and the dual glass packs got me in a little trouble with the local PD. Sure which I had it now. Glad you were able to keep yours. Beautiful car.

What a great find and interview Lou. That 409 SS has the best colors, and power windows to boot. I bet that would fetch well into the 6 digit figures for sure at a Mecum or Barrett Jackson auction, but he would never sell.👍🏻
My thoughts exactly, this is a real gem and the 409/425hp with the convertible is the icing on the gear head cake if there's such a thing. The owner looks well for his age,he sure was a fine looking young man. I remember these cars when I was young, boy, those were the days! Have a great day Lou and Rick☺🙏👍💯
That guy is an amazing human being. Now if I was seventeen in 1964 and could pay for it that would definitely be the car I would order. However there is no way I would have kept my hands off that thing. I would have monkeyed around with it and changed this and changed that so bad the car wouldn't even be recognizable.
@@loucostabile I can understand a 40 or 50 year old buying that car brand new and not doing anything to it. But a seventeen-year-old at the dawn of Hot Rodding?? That's pretty amazing and probably a story all itself.
Very cool car Lou. It's funny that Rick bought this car when he was 17 and so cool that he still has it, in prime condition as well. The first car I bought when I was 17 (in 1981) was a '64 Impala. I do not still have it but it is my favorite car that I have ever owned and I would very much like to get another. Thanks Lou and Rick.
@jr-ee9jk Wow, and 327 powered Chevy that would beat a 383 powered Roadrunner?! What exactly was it & what all was done to your Chevy?! Anyway, I gave a thumbs up.
If Hertz had used this Impala to film their "let Hertz put you in the driver's seat commercial", the driver would have wound up on the road viewing his car from the rear on his rear! Great video, Lou!
Sorry but that car would have a lot more miles on it if I owned it. I could not stand it knowing its in the garage calling my name all the time. Life is short. Drive it like your last day is tomorrow. Especially now with the end of fossil fuels being forced upon us. Burn the tires and have a ball.
The 64s have always been my favorites, a dream car for sure in this 409 SS trim! What an amazing survivor in original condition. Hats off to you sir for being an amazing steward of such a wonderful car!

That '64 Chevrolet Impala SS 409 Convertible is really an incredibly stunningly looking car that sounds and runs as great as it looks! Chevrolet really did make a classic car that still looks impressive even 58 years later! Thanks for posting yet another of your excellent videos, Lou!

@@loucostabile Have a great day/night Lou, thak you.
Hi, Lou! Well, Rick saved his pennies and he saved his dimes and bought himself a brand new 409! I think the fact that he still has it to this very day goes to show just how much satisfaction you get when you work hard for what you want. No doubt he's put a lot of love into it too, as he's done so well to keep it looking like new throughout all these last 58 years!
As usual, Lou, you have a real knack for find the most interesting specimens to spotlight with such great car stories to tell! Thanks, Lou and Rick, for taking us all along for this real fine ride!
Hi iswc27, "Rick saved his pennies and he saved his dimes and bought himself a brand new 409" NICE! My pleasure finding the cars I think you'll enjoy. You're welcome. Lou
What an awesome car and story. I can't believe the low mileage, don't find many like that everyday. Great video Lou and thanks!
Hi Gary, High praise :-) You're welcome, Lou
My 409,nothings fater than my 409, song gets stuck in my head every time I see one. Great song, great car
Hi Mike, A happy tune for sure :-) Lou
Great story and incredible Impala with all the right boxes checked. Amazing condition… just wow… I’m speechless
Hi Richard, Happy to receive a "just wow… I’m speechless" from you :-) Lou
This is my favorite year of Impala. I have a relatively new one that I love but this one pulls at my heart strings.
My next-door neighbor had one as a teen but of course he wrecked it. I can't even imagine the value of this car.
What a lucky brat he was.
Lou you look 10 years younger in that car.
Hi Michael, Happy to read "This is my favorite year of Impala." :-) NICE! "Lou you look 10 years younger in that car." Cars keep you young :-)
What an awesome car and story! Lou you continue to out do your self! I bet that was a thrill for you to be able to drive that car! Doesn't get any better than that!
Hi Jeffery, Happy to read you enjoy this "awesome car & story" :-) VERY FUN to drive the car! Lou
Great episode, he was a very responsible 17 year old, the car is in excellent condition, done a wonderful job with the car over these almost 60 years, incredible, just incredible,
Hi Bruce, Right person with the right car :-) Lou
Lou, I still have the red/black 1963 Ford Galaxie XL 390 4 speed convertible that I bought new from Warwick Ford in RI. Other than a repaint several years ago, it still looks new.
Sergeant Masson, Happy to read you have a cool car too! Lou
This is sooper dooper, thanks guys, and thank you Lou for another great installment.

What beautiful car thank you for sharing this with us. I had a 63 Impala at sixteen in 1973. Life got in the way and I had to let her go 3 years ago. That was my first car and I miss her dearly.

@@loucostabile I subscribed a few years ago and I watch a lot of your videos they always bring happy memories. Mine was in storage from 1987- 2019 it was in good condition it was going to be my retirement project to pull the motor and freshen it up the car was about 90% original. But life got in the way and I knew I wasn’t going to be able to do it so I had to let her go.
What's amazing is as a 17 year old kid buying it. He didn't spend all his time driving it and showing off. Obviously he must had been very well off to not only buy it, but if he rarely drove it. He must have had something else to drive too I guess. Plus of course was able to keep it indoors too...

My former neighbor bought the exact same 409/425hp car new in '64, from Norwood Chevrolet in RI but it was/is turquoise/white, and he still owns it.

Unbelievable nicely done Rick and Lou!!! Especially Rick!
NICE! :-)
What a car story! I nominate Rick's Dad for Parent of the Century! Thanks Lou!
Hi Brian SD, High praise. You're welcome, Lou

My first car was a red 64 Impala, and I was 17, 283 with a three speed, bucket seats, nothing like this one in the vid but I still thought it was something special.
WOW!!! It just doesn't get anymore original than this! Gorgeous car, with an awesome REAL car guy who has owned it since it rolled off the dealer's lot. Amazing........I really enjoyed this one, thanks guys!!!
Hi Howabouthetruth, Happy to receive a "WOW!!!" from you :-) You're welcome, Lou
I'd be willing to bet he's the only original '64 SS Impala 409 in America
Hi C Howard, I'd think you're right, Lou
Lol no ur close tho there is another one I just seen with the body having like only 80.000 miles and after the resto it only has 0 miles only drive way driven ...check it out ..put on u tube couple months ago ..dude is asking 250 k its crazy g oh ya and its a yanko.....if u want to see it put in youtube search 64 ss 409 duel carb yanko for sale
This is my favorite then comes my 67 ! This has every thing a guy could want ! I was 5 when this was built! The owner is hysterical!
Hi Lee, Happy to read this car is a favorite of yours :-) Lou
Lou this is what My Car Story is all about. What an episode! An unusually optioned desiriable car, still in unbelievable original condition, still with the original owner, and fantastic stories to go with it. Grand Slam! Other than the incredible induction noise that 409 made when you got your foot into it, the best part was how Rick ordered seat belts, but deleted the outside rearview mirror! That car needs to be at MCACN. This video is a 10 out 10 Lou!!
The bases are loaded....Lou from My Car Story steps up to the plate with an Original Owner and a rare 64 Chevy....the story is told....the video is uploaded......and....and....and....he takes it all the way out of the YARD! A GRAND SLAM!
Very nice! Never saw a silver interior in a red Impala but back then you could order anything.
Hi Craig, Happy to read you enjoy this "Very nice!" car :-) Thank you for sharing the details you notice, Lou
I didn't know the 1964 Impala can have a huge motor. Pretty cool this particular car is still with the guy who bought when it was new.
Hi LITTLE, Happy to read you think this car is "Pretty cool" :-) Lou
Original owner, survivor, and amazing!
Hi Doug, Happy to receive an "amazing!" from you :-) Lou
Convertible too. Oh my god
:-)
Morning, Lou -
I think this is the most impressive episode I've seen of M. C. S.
I'm remembering being with my Dad when he ordered our '64 Chevy station wagon at our local Chevrolet dealership.
Just remarkable, that this fellow purchased her new & has been such a good custodian...
Morning, Dave- High praise for this episode! Happy to read this brings back memories of ordering a car with your Dad :-) Lou
Bellamente conservado este Chevrolet Impala de 1964, y hasta con sus manuales. ¡Un muy bonito el día y lugar para contar otra gran historia! Me encantó esa toma del final pasando como una flecha, junto con el rugido de su poderoso motor... ¡Saludos cordiales!
Hi Jaime, High praise for this car & story :-) My pleasure sharing this car with you, Lou
nice 5 stars 😀

Wow! Amazing car 🚗 👌

Awesome car with a great story. The iconic "4 speed, dual quad, positraction, 409" Very cool that Rick has kept it so long and kept it in such great shape. Take care.

Wow! Great video! I really enjoyed this one. I just wonder how Rick was able to get insured on a high horsepower car at 17.
Hi wrstidham, Happy to read you enjoy this video :-) Not sure how he insured the car at 17, Lou
Well Lou you've done it again. Im 44 years old and have just seen the most beautiful Impala SS GM ever built! Wow did Rick take cars of that car!! The original top is nothing short of stunning and the overall condition of the car is breathe taking! Thanks for the video and the story behind the car is was truly and treat to watch! Have a good one Buddy 👍
Hi Don's Hot Rod Garage, High praise. My pleasure sharing this car with you, Lou
great car MR LOU
Thank you MR CHON :-)
Very beautiful 64 Impala and that 409 is a beast.
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-)
@@loucostabile Thanks Lou
You hit 'er out of the ballpark again Lou! I always loved the '61-'64 409's with dual quad and 4 speed. In fact I was drooling over a '63 Bel Air with the same set up that I saw for sale in a collector book. Black with red interior. I love the back story too in this episode, very interesting and enlightening!
HOME RUN lonnyjaw!
Absolutely awesome history , I don’t think the original owner at 17 knew he was buying one of the most iconic and legendary full size muscle car ever in automotive history .
Thank you for the video

Looking good 👍
Nice :-)
Thank you for making my evening. This brought back so many memories. I had a 2 door hardtop SS with 409 - 340 hp. I could get rubber in all 4 gears . That and the dual glass packs got me in a little trouble with the local PD. Sure which I had it now. Glad you were able to keep yours. Beautiful car.
Hi John, Happy to read this made your evening and brought back memories for you :-) You're welcome. Sounds like you had some fun with your car, Lou
What a guy, most kids would have scratched it by now.

No side mirror. He wanted to see where he was going...not where he had been!...Ehhhh!😅👍
You're right.
As a boy my neighbor bought one and the first time I heard and was it he was sideways in the road, and of course I jumped the fence and ran over to see his new car (old car Corvette) ,this is a great example of the world of 1964!!!! 2022

What a great find and interview Lou. That 409 SS has the best colors, and power windows to boot. I bet that would fetch well into the 6 digit figures for sure at a Mecum or Barrett Jackson auction, but he would never sell.👍🏻
Hi Andy, High praise for this find & interview :-) Lou
My thoughts exactly, this is a real gem and the 409/425hp with the convertible is the icing on the gear head cake if there's such a thing. The owner looks well for his age,he sure was a fine looking young man. I remember these cars when I was young, boy, those were the days! Have a great day Lou and Rick☺🙏👍💯
adding driving portions where they do get on it really adds to the vids. Will admit Ill watch more often for sure.
Hi port nut, "adding driving portions where they do get on it really adds to the vids." When we can, we do :-) Lou
What a great car!...Always loved the 409 with the "dog ear" heads. A real muscle car with a 4 spd trans, just the way it should be!

BEAUTIFULL CAR AND A GREAT CARE TAKER!!! THANKS FOR SHOWING US THIS ONE...
Hi Dirk, Happy to read you enjoy this Care Taker & Car :-) My pleasure sharing with you. You're welcome, Lou
That guy is an amazing human being.
Now if I was seventeen in 1964 and could pay for it that would definitely be the car I would order.
However there is no way I would have kept my hands off that thing. I would have monkeyed around with it and changed this and changed that so bad the car wouldn't even be recognizable.
Hi Jive Turkey, Well you can see when he puts his hand on this thing....he enjoys it :-) Lou
Hi Blane, Happy to read you enjoy this "Very cool car" :-) Nice you bought a 64 Impala too. You're welcome, Lou

Glad to read you enjoy this car :-)
This car is one of the coolest cars ever made! It is beautiful in everything a car can offer.

I had a midnight blue hard top, 327 that would eat a 383 roadrunner. Thats a pretty girl you got there...
Hi jr, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Hi Gary, Thank you for sharing. Appreciate the kind words on this video, Lou
Sorry but that car would have a lot more miles on it if I owned it. I could not stand it knowing its in the garage calling my name all the time.
Life is short. Drive it like your last day is tomorrow. Especially now with the end of fossil fuels being forced upon us. Burn the tires and have a ball.
I can understand how this car would have more miles on it if I owned it too :-)
I have a few more cars to drive in place of that one😊 thanks
The 64s have always been my favorites, a dream car for sure in this 409 SS trim! What an amazing survivor in original condition. Hats off to you sir for being an amazing steward of such a wonderful car!

Keeping a car like this in the shape is amazing!
