This is a perfect example of how people nowadays wouldn't survive in the old games, the zombie was eating her ass and she was waiting for the tutorial hahahah
Yeah, she gets attacked and instead of mashing buttons and fighting it off, she lets go of the controller. Most of the video feels like she's waiting for the game to start playing itself or holding her hand to the next objective. Modern gaming instincts I guess
As a RE veteran, im screaming at the screen trying to tell you what to do! lmao
Instantly subscribed when I saw you playing this one. Only advice I can give is to examine everything! 😁 Can't wait for the next one!
41:50 lol decides to kill the least threatening zombie in the game😂 It’s cool seeing someone’s first time and all the small mistakes that feel fatal when knowing what’s next.
Two hours of her looking for a key she had in her inventory the entire time lmao
First time i ever played this I was about 12 years old, and I obsessively checked every item I got. This player somehow missed the part where you can ROTATE items while checking them (there were arrows all over the screen too). I mean, how do you get down into a creepy crypt, find this weird book, and not try to investigate it further. She just puts it away immediately like, "ok". Total disinterest.
@@YellowElevator815 Her puzzle solving skills are frustratingly bad lol I finished episode nine yesterday I would’ve thought this close to the end of the game she would’ve gotten better and she has ,just not with the puzzles she ends up loving the game though
One of the best games ever!
"I looked up the time and it should take around seven hours" -proceeds to spend two hours on the first two minutes of the game.
Is it me or is resident evil becoming sooo popular!? GG Sam! :)
As always, but 2002 - 2009 was bigger
Wow I remember all the way back to 1997 and 8 year old me would watch my older brother play the original. My how far the franchise has come in almost 30 years. This RE journey you're about to go on will amaze you. It will be interesting to observe. I hope you have fun.
This is one of my favorite video games and I love watching people play it blind because that’s exactly what I did first time. Instantly Subscribed
It’s great to see new players get into the franchise, after all these years and the best part was, Sam started at the beginning then moved forward, whereas most people these days do the opposite start with newer titles then move backwards.
Personally I can’t wait till she gets to Resident Evil 5, my favorite.
Well done with what you’ve done so far. This game is very challenging and doesn’t hold your hand / explain much.
I don’t want to spoil or tell you what to do but I think it would be helpful to point out that you can turn things when examining them and sometimes become something else that you can use just like the arrowhead.
Every item you find will of course serve some function but if it doesn’t seem apparent at first glance you either can’t use it yet or you may need to examine it from another angle to discover more. Good luck!
Just found this channel today and I wish you all the best! The Resident Evil series is quality for the most part and I consider many of the games as some of the best ever. Lots of support from Toronto, Canada😊
Really love seeing people still play this classic masterpiece of game.
I think most of us that grew up with these games are screaming at our screens trying to guide you.
But, i know for a fact that we have all been there at one point or another and the fact that you've chosen to play this game without tips or walkthroughs is an absolute boon to your performance.
Don't let the harshness of these games dissuade you. Good luck and i can't wait to see more. -subbed.
Just saw this video on my feed. Looking forward to seeing you play this series. My pfp is from a character from re 4 remake . My advice is to examine stuff and you don’t need to kill every zombie you see. Jill was my first pick too.
Playing old and properly made games is always respectable. Subscribe well deserved)
Awesome to see you starting Resident Evil today this
going to be great thanks Sam.🎇🎆🎇🎆
Fixed perspective camera is great though. You see just what the game wants you to see, and don't see what it doesn't. In this genre especially, that's perfect for increasing the tension. Plus it allows for gorgeous prerendered backgrounds like you see here, which even modern game environments have a hard time equaling.
I'm not old school but I have no problem with fixed camera, I can play perfectly and sometimes it looks even more "artistic"
Alot of games have no tutorial, some games make you feel like you're really there, yourself, so you need to figure it out on your own. You seem like a smart lady, let's go!
I love watching first playthroughs of my favorite games!
This is very entertaining!
“Do I get XP?” 😂🤣 Nah this game is from a way different generation than you’re probably used to. There’s no handholding, no tutorial phases, no respawning ammo or health items. I mean the game is designed with strategy and tactics in mind and so if you make the wrong choices early on it can almost be impossible to complete.
well the remake is from 2002 and they did make a few things simpler compared to the original game.
Always good to see someone new coming to these games. You’ll get there. Nice use of the map. Remember to always examine every item and read well any notes or info you pickup.
Looking forward to the rest of your journey of survival.
Btw this is the remake of the original.
Nice job getting that shot getting bit by the window with the lightning flash!
I swear i was thinking the exact same thing hahaaaa!
I like how you die you’re just like ok lol great play through I always enjoy watching others go through what I went through the first time playing this game
One of my favorite games of all time!
A bit of brains and stamina. You got this, lady. Top entertainment 🎉🎉.
Starting with RE1 is a bold choice in 2024. Most just start with RE2 remake. But I respect it. Also committing to playing every game in the series is wild 😂. This franchise has some of the best games of all time and some real stinkers. You’re in for a rollercoaster
First time viewer. If you learn to love this style of game you may also enjoy some classic Silent Hill. Not to mention there are many indies out there as well.
A few friendly tips if you feel stuck and not sure what to do. If you need to, you can place the key back into the trap by going to the inventory menu and then selecting use on the key. Technically you can do the same with the shield and place it back in the dining room if you need a free space. Also try examining the book from the back of it.
Oh and if a room is red, it may be due to an item that can only be acquired after completing a puzzle using a key item.
Kate, you look familiar.
Are you a streamer yourself?
Modern gamers - "please game, tell me what to do and think at every juncture. Highlight all the interactive objects and remove all sense of exploration. I need my arse wiped for me. Will you do that too? “
Welcome to this great franchise. Resident Evil is awesome
You're in for a doozy! It's a tough game to play going in blind. There is definitely a learning curve. The controls are simple but take some getting used to mechanically. As some have said already, examine items completely by rotating them in the EXAMINE screen. Reload your guns through the inventory screen using combine when selecting the ammo. Zombies have varying health and may or may not lunge at you when in arms length. You can fake them out by running close to them but backing off to make them lunge and miss you so you can move around them without getting caught and not waste any ammo unnecessarily. Good luck and enjoy 😉
I also heard Capcom is going to give the full remake treatment to this Resident Evil, so that will be amazing.
Btw these early games can be a bit unforgiving at times if you aren't familiar with them, but thats all part of the fun, just know that you will probably die many times in this game and some parts can be a real challenge. Often it's a better idea to just run and save ammo rather than fight
Yeah thank goodness for us fans this girl Sam isn’t a quitter.
Seriously I can think of three girl streamers on the top of my head, who would’ve quit this game in the first two hours of not finding the Sword key.
choosing between Jill or Chris does change up the game quite a bit both have events and even whole characters that only appear when playing as them. Jill is the more beginner friendly/normal difficulty choice as she starts with a gun and has two extra inventory slots then Chris.... he only starts with a knife and lighter. The Remake also as a host of unlockable content which includes more game modes like Survival Mode and One Deadly Zombie mode - in which you are being chase thru the first half of the game by unkillable zombie that can kill you in one bite and is able to follow you from room to room pretty quickly, it can be very panic inducing let me tell you! XD
Instead of reloading manually it's better to go to the menu and use combine command. It'll be instantaneous and you won't have to worry about the reload animation.
If u don't kill zombies completely in a room, there health respawns. Always examine iteams from ALL Angles. Front, back, sides
WELCOME TO THE FAMILY
Sam will get it when she plays RE7
You are very enjoyable to watch.
Hi Sam good to see you playing this are you going to play two and three next this is a great franchise one of the very best .
I love Resi and have played through every part several times. Resident Evil 1 is probably not the best choice to enter the world today. It was impressing back then, but probably more off-putting today. The controls are only for die-hard fans. For newcomers, I would actually recommend the remake of Resident Evil 2 or 4. The story isn't particularly important or noteworthy, you can just watch a short summary. Without a doubt, Part 7 is the best game in the entire franchise. But it's also super scary and only partially reflects the original Resident Evil feeling. On the other hand, you yourself say that you don't like horror, so you should ask yourself whether it's basically for you. The games mainly depend on the atmosphere.
You lost me after you said RE7 was the best.
No way!
it’s valen-time!
Great game
When I was 11 years old my first Resident Evil game I ever experienced was Resident Evil 2 (not the remake) on the PlayStation 1 and it’s my all-time favorite playing as Leon because it’s in Raccoon City outbreak but I was scared to play it so I watched my friend play it at night in the dark lol. But u should play from the first game in order so you know what’s going on and who the characters are since they are referenced in other resident evil games and why there important. This one is probably my 2nd favorite.
New to
The channel if you like this game I recommend 2 and 3 remakes
I love the camera angles. I'm also a loser though.
Assuming you are only playing the remake versions of 2 and 3 and you play 4 (og or remake) and all games after that came out, you won't have to worry about tank controls or fixed camera angles after this game unless you decide to play Resident Evil 0 which was made after this game (which is remake of original Resident Evil) and they hadn't changed the series to over the shoulder with free movement which didn't start until Resident Evil 4 original.
I forgot about Code Veronica which isn't a numbered title but considered a main game of the series by many because it's a sequel to Claire from RE2 and isn't exactly a spinoff like other re games (looking at you dead aim, outbreak and survivor).
RUclips sure is recommending me a ton of tiny channel resident evil vids. Its neat seeing a bunch of different channels though. Even if Im getting overloaded with resi evil content. One thing I do love about the smaller channels though.....no sponsor ads for god awful mobile games, or stupid earbuds I cant afford, meal services I cant afford......or the most bizarre sponsor ads, "Personal injury lawyers" just odd seeing that on YT.
This is the best place to start really. Hope you keep up with the series.
Resident Evil Zero is worth playing too, as a prequel to this, though it can be rather difficult, so maybe better to play Resident Evil 2 after this one if you want to continue the series.
It's always better to play any series in the true release order. REmake 1 makes things pointlessly harder for newbies, and kinda ruins some of the features of the OG.
Zero is just garbage. Been a fan of RE since the late 90s, and I cannot recommend it nor the CV to anyone. Also, I hope that with the "RE2", you're referring to the 1998 classic version, not the notorious 2019 "remake".
@@GugureSux it's a bit hard to ask people to play the originals from the PS1 era really, as good as they are, they are rather dated and hard to play esp for people not used to the tank controls.
@@GugureSux the Resi 2 remake was not bad at all, it was a decent game, even if I was disappointed in a few parts. It's far better than the Resi 3 remake anyway
I disagree strongly on RE0, not worth anybody’s time. Truthfully if you’re new to the series just play 2, 3, 4 remake then 7 and 8. That’s it. The rest are a slog
Difficulty screen says: normal>easy>very easy
Assuming you didn't figure it out in this video (still watching it at the moment) if you press start on ps4 controller or option on ps5 controller, you can go to where it shows your controls and change it to be L1 and R1 for shooting.
I wonder how long it took her to thoroughly examine the book 🤭🤭🤔🤔
lol how you need a tutorial to tell you to shoot a zombie that's chewing on you :)
slow start but off to a good start Sam
❤
Awesome! A newbie to the Resident evil franchise. This game will not hold your hand. It's not a "shoot'em up" game, its true "survival horror." Which means u have to use your Brain and stop and think. Also, don't just pick up everything, leave it till u know what the item is used for.
Heck yeah girl, Resident Evil are some of my most favorite games of all time. 💪🏻Jill is a great choice! If you're afraid of horror, like you said, the only Resident Evil you should be concerned about is 7. I wouldn't even classify these games as horror. More like mystery survival.
Classic REs are quintessential horror games. RE7 is some of the of the most embarrassing shit I've ever played, and it ruined RE for all eternity. Literally a pile of the worst cancerous memes of the modern AAA industry, packed into a single game.
If you want actually terrifying oldschool survival horror, the Silent Hill games, 1-4, is the way to go. They are all easily accessibl on PC.
@@GugureSux I've played Silent Hill, which are arguably more quintessentially horror. Resident Evil was never horror, and 7 is what literally saved the franchise from dying. The fact you didn't even mention 6 when displaying your clear disdain of 7 tells me much.
ahahaahahaha
just hang in there, once you beat the game you will unlock infinite weapon
The descriptions for the different difficulty in the beginning is very midleading...but it goes "very easy, easy, normal"..Not "easy, medium, Hard"....So you're playing on Easy right now....I'm pretty sure everyone made the same mistake the first time because what developer makes it like that.....I didn't know I played it on Easy until i beat the game and only the "Easy achievement" popped up....Hard difficulty is only unlocked after you Beat the game one time
How many more times do you miss discovering for the first time? come here come 🤭
yeah this game definitely isn't for casuals it doesn't hold your hand or explain everything to you.
LOL! I played through all of these (the original games) as they came out back in the day, at the age of ~9-12, just fine on my own. I'm also ESL, so I had to look up a lot of words from a dictionary. People these days are just way too pampered by braindead casual slop.
@@GugureSux okay I don't know why that would be a problem this game just didn't come out in English it was released in multiple languages. second while this game is not for casuals it's certainly not that difficult and nothing to brag about the puzzles are pretty self-explanatory but they don't hold your hand so I don't know why you're bragging about beating it that's not an accomplishment. I mean why would your parents buy this game for you in a language where you don't completely understand every word to the point you have to look it up?something doesn't add up about that..
Hellou there how you doing?😘
yeah, it is kind nnnngggahaaa! frustrating to watch some of the moves you made in this, don´t know if you tried, but you could have tried the traditional controls for this game, so you don´t have to change how you push the analogue stick. when the angle changes, that method bases the control only on the character, the old "tank" controls. meaning that forward is always the characters forward, and this also makes it so you can back. that method is in a way better in these games with looked camera angles. And also a reason for why you can´t change the camera. is that the background i prerendered, basically a picture, with som animations on top at times.
Gamers these days expect the older games to teach you how to play, lol
Also xp is not a thing.
This is sad, OG RE1 is really recommendable before this one, you get amazing references.
"Nintendo hard".....no hand holding in this game. you either figure it out or you don't. 10 out of 10 game right here.
0:28 "I wanted to start from the very beginning". And you didn't. The real beginning is the original PS1 game on Playstation...PC doesn't count.
1:10 7 hours? Being from the future I see that you're close to 12 hours. Don't underestimate older classic games, they don't hand hold you, and in many ways the game play and stories are better than any modern game (Metal Gear Solid).
Why do regular people keep calling films, games, books etc «franchises?» Do you work for the company producing them? Are you a shareholder? It’s called a «series». It’s really frightening how much capitalism has been internalized in the way we think. Case in point, we judge media on how well it sells, not by its own merits.
Always examine all your items!!
Hope you finish all of them!
