Nice to see a fellow Minnesotan out catching spring slabs AND RELEASING THEM. It’s also encouraging to see you don’t need a $80K boat and gear to catch fish and have fun. TUCR does a great job on their rods. I live here in Coon Rapids and their shop is super close. Might have to throw down and get that new blue rod this year

For the guys that's asking, go try deadshot lake in Detroit lakes. We limit out on slabs like the ones in the video. 13s to 16s. Came from California to Vist a friend in Detroit lake and he sure did put us on a gd bite and told us to keep them cause them slabs are getting old and pretty soon the sperms and eggs are not strong enough to fertilize. There were 7 of us fishing btw. It was a gd fish fry dinner that I will never forget with all that meat them slabs had!! Yummy

Stop being shady with your spot man. It's just fish! Plenty for every1.
Those 15s are like eater size for us and those are like dinks over here in California. We have bigger crappies and don't mind sharing you my spots!

I fish the Mississippi in Wisconsin and don't catch many small crappie. Most I catch are 12 to 16in and I keep some to eat. Sometimes I even keep a limit.

Love the show but we don’t need to get a lecture about not keeping fish before we watch it. Many of us (me) only get to fish a couple of times a year, maybe!! So if we keep a meal of fish be it a 15 inch crappie so what!!

You said it’s your responsibility did the dnr pin a little badge, on your chest?? Making you fish police?!? You must also be one of those guys that fish Mille lacs. For your one walleye limit as the state laughs it’s ass off. someday you’ll trade youth for wisdom.

Great video! I fish pflueger reel exclusively and love them. Like the rod too. I'll just have to build me another rod. Gotta have a hobby. What made you go with the pink and white tube over another color?
What year and model boat are you fishing out of? I'm looking to pick me up an upgrade and like the tiller with the deep open center.

Definitely a late reply but I’d invest into abu Garcias (60-100$ bait and spinners) and maybe an rx7000 if you do big cat fishing

  • @Almoondo

So, you catch one that you say is a pound and a half to a pound and three quarters, and then you catch an even bigger one that you weigh and is actually under a pound an a half. I think your weight estimates are a little off. Really nice fish though and props to you for not being greedy and letting those big fish go.

A $185.00 crappie rod? Lmfknao Hahaha! Ridiculous! Also whats the sense of fishing with a tube jig if your also hooking a minnow to it? Makes no sense and a double waste. Either use the tube jig or the minnow on a hook. Makes no sense. I can do the SAME with a Shakespear ultralight rod, some eagle claw pan fish hooks and dozen minnows. Your doing way over kill to something so SIMPLE
