Kayak fishing is absolutely relaxing. My son and grandson just bought kayaks and I had one years ago but nothing like the nice stuff they have now. Thought about getting another one but my old back wouldn't like that. These postings are top notch. I would have brought home at least a couple of those crappie. Great eating. I used to fish some farm ponds with my nephew in Indiana when we would visit that was loaded with hybrid bluegill. They were so big you could hardly get your hand around them. We used to throw them back but one day the owner said he wanted to thin them out a bunch. We took a good bunch home and cleaned them for a big family fish fry that night. Nobody was in the mood for fresh caught fish for some reason so my nephew and I ate til we started growing gills. Great memories.

I almost hate to comment because I'm basically going to just reiterate what so many other commenters say. I love watching your videos because of how relaxing they make me feel. Foe me... that's fishing. The beauty of God's nature and soothing sounds of the birds, frogs, etc. I remember when I lived in Connecticut, that truly was fishing for me. A row boat on a 50 acre lake filled with bass, perch and sunfish, with some chain pickerel thrown in for the occasional challenge of not losing your lures! Now I live in NC and have to fish from the shore in a pond surrounded by trees. Sooo much frustration! Between the submerged trees and stumps, the wind, and the surrounding trees and bushes, I think that I may have lost more lures in two years than in the past 30 years! ..and they cost so much now! I recently came across a pack of red 3.0 tru turn worm hooks that were $2.39 for 25 hooks. Those same hooks today cost $2.19 per 4! Can you say "INFLATION!" ...Thanks for sharing your trips with us. Blessings!

I love spring crappie fishing. A special tactic I use while shore fishing is flipping a weightless Strike King Mr. Crappie Lightning Shad and reeling very slowly as I constantly twitch very lightly with the rod tip down. The lure stays just beneath the surface as it slowly moves and does little wags. That gets crappie to come right up and hit it. A very similar retrieve with smaller suspending jerkbaits, like a size 6 Husky Jerk and size 4 X-Rap, also works.

You should try use it like a popping cork and can hang it further from the bobber if you're trying it along a transition. They seem to like those transitions. I usually give it about 3 ft and put a 1/32 or 1/64oz jig head so it pendulums slowly and use a 2.5 or 3-in gulp minnow. They love that when they are being finicky with a regular jig and plastic. Give it a pop, wait two or three seconds while the jig slowly pendulums and repeat. Works like a champ, especially at Spawn

Haven't seen someone using the mimic minnows in a while. And quite frankly they're a great bait. The smaller sizes slaughter the eater size crappies. And I've caught some giant slabs and bass on the bigger sizes. Pike are a problem when using those but they always are with minnow like baits.

Thank you for your content and style it's so bingabke even ones I've already watched. Always Cool lures . The duck the snake and of course the whopper plopper musky and pike slams!!! Just great!!!

Matt the lightbulb just went off when I saw your ski yourself through. I’ve had so many opportunities to do that, and I’ve completely forgotten lol.
Nice fishing in that wind. I’ve never had any luck when it got super gusty lol. Good to see you back on the water

I have no idea how you are situaed financially Mat but, hay, a little more income from a little more input sounds like a good deal to me. I, for one would love to see what you do with those keepers. Catch and cook might just be the way to go. Please try it, you never know.
