Today I head out on a fall crappie hunt. Crappies go through the same migration every fall. As the water cools crappies and all panfish push towards there wintering haunts. These spots are generally large soft bottom basins in the 20 to 35 foot zone. Follow along and I find the structure, find the fish and dissect a school of crappies using the Kalins Crappie Scrub. Thanks for watching.

I should have bought stock in kalin's, that crappie scrub is the cat's meow. I took a friend to a 10 acre pond last fall and after I started spanking 14 inchers he asked me what the hell I was using. LOL I set him up with one and we flogged the crappies.....

I fish from a Kayak and have no fish finder. There’s 2 boats in about 18 ft of water and that’s the deepest spot other than 60 ft strait down

Tom, Watched one of your videos for the first time this morning.
I have to say in all honesty it seems like all the "fun of fishing" is gone.
When you can see your bait and when a fish comes up to bite the bait. My Word!
Everyone seems to be in a hurry and find an easy way to get from A-Z.
Fishing is learning how to be patient and (more importantly).. relax.
I'm old - so forgive me for not being in tune with the fishing of today.

As a young man of 29, I feel the same. This time of year I hike miles into grouse cover to be passed by on ATVs and Side by Sides guided by their phone apps to high percentage areas. Its no different out on the water. The ethics of hunting and fishing are dying out because "success" is weighed more by a heavier vest/fuller creel by any means rather than time spent learning the land, embracing the wild and out-cunning the game.

I understand your point and I understand his point.
If I'm out catch and release I could use a finder.
If I'm out to catch and eat and it's not a necessary thing to have to eat then I wouldn't use the fish finder.
Since I really don't own one, I'll stick with my regular way. But his videos are very informative on water structure and how to use the finder.
I'm considering one for this spring depending on whether I'll be able to get out or not to fish.

I respectfully disagree. Life is so busy today, who has time to do things the old fashioned way. Using all the high tech stuff I still don't catch enough fish.

If you fish bigger lakes how else would you find fish? You're looking for a spot the size of a car in hundreds of acres of water, and unless you just happen to know exactly where the fish might be holding good luck finding them. Also, just because you see them on the depth finder doesn't mean they'll hit

@@beebob1279 in my opinion the few I keep in the winter taste much better than any I've kept during late summer. Idk if it's less algae or if it's the instant freeze?

@@HuntsWorkshop I know a lot of fisherman near me who keep only through the ice. I think it's their being in the cold and the fish just seems to taste better. My neighbors bring a grill on the ice. Once they have a few fish they get fillet and cooked with onions and potatoes. Nothing fresher

After watching and rewatching your videos, I've realized you're a boat control and sonar reading master. Both of which I need to get better at regardless of what and where I'm fishing. It almost makes me upset with myself that after all these years and investing in the equipment to achieve the level you're at.... I'm still not there.
