@@TheCyberstalker88 , yeah he died a long time ago now. In my opinion of the situation, he was put in rehab by his relatives (sisters) and he never really got back to himself after that. He had a heart attack soon after. I don't want to upset any of his family or friends but that's my thoughts on the subject.
I have personally seen many people who have done drugs both recreationally and done drugs in a much more serious way who go through rehab and die within a year of quitting.
I am not advocating drugs but I think that people are really closed minded about drug use. Humans have been trying to find a way to get high since the beginning of time. There are even some Anthropologist and Scientist that believe that mind altering substances were partially if not totally responsible for some of the things that are incorporated into some of the todays religions. I know that this might blow some people's minds.
Some Anthropologist and Scientist get into the theory of the stoned ape. Basically the idea of that is that humans evolved into what we are today by learning to cook food (not that controversial) but also that early humans found things like mushrooms and that helped to make humans advance our species.

This is a radio edit. You guys gotta try and listen to the full versions of these songs, particularly when you're listening to Type O Negative. Their radio edits consistently cut out the best parts of ALL of their songs, including Peter Steele's legendary scream at the beginning of this song and the solo and bridge toward the end. If you ever listen to another track Type O Negative, make sure it's the album version and not the music video or radio edit please

RIP Peter Steele (bassist/vocalist) --- he was one of a kind. A pity you went with the heavily edited and shorter version, but you get the idea. Type O was never trying to be anything fancy or special -- they came from thrash metal roots and kept it raw and edgy. Saw them a few times and they even made fun of themselves, from what I recall. But they had a particular sound and good or bad, you know it's them when you hear the music. Glad you got to check them out.

I know bc it's why I relate so well to it...TON did take on a more serious tone after the passing of Pete's father, and it is more than evident as they also lost most of their "gimmick-based" fans after October Rust.I mean,Dead Again was basically a Christian metal album, minus a handful of songs.I must say Pete pulled it off better than any other band in that genre,though,lol...Either way,if u're a true fan,our disagreement is small.I love ppl who love TON.Peace.

Type O is unusual because (unlike most gothic bands) they have a very ironic sense of humour, which you guys instantly got. To my mind, this adds to their charm, but this particular song is especially tongue-in-cheek. They definitely also have songs that can be read more seriously, if you don’t like the humour aspect. Also, with them it’s important to listen to the album version, which is typically at least 5 minutes longer than the radio edit. This was a radio edit you listened to, and I can’t stand it because I love the full song. Anyway, you should give them a second shot. Maybe “Everything Dies” or “Christian woman”

I'm surprised you guys didn't mention the fact he's playing a full sized concert base with a shoulder sling made of 3/8" chain link. Peter Steele was almost 7 feet tall and was actually physically able to play a full sized traditional concert base from a shoulder sling like a electric base. That had a lot to do with their original rich bass tones. He was a very gifted bassist to boot. I'm surprised you guys didn't mention that. Something else for trivia purposes the lead singer Pete Steele was a city worker for the parks and recreation department in NYC before he earned a living in music. Picture walking through Central Park at night and seeing this guy digging up a broken water main at night.
In reality he was well known by everyone who knew him as a genuine nice guy with a huge heart. He plays his character in the band perfectly. Too bad he died so young. 48 isn't exactly a teenager, but I'm sure he had a lot more music to write.

On top of that you're always tired and even though you produce, there is nothing accomplished that you can look at and be satisfied with. When you trim a hedge or mow a lawn, you can see the results. When you deliver a mesmerizing performance or an important load of freight, you have done your job perfectly, but there you are right afterwards on the road watching the little lines go by as if nothing ever happened.

Next song should definitely be either "Love You To Death" or "I Don't Wanna Be Me". Depends on if you want a darker vibe or a faster, more energetic vibe (respectively). Type O had a truly unique sound for 90's metal. They were a great band. They had the musicianship, but it was always meant to be a joke lyrically. An art experiment much like GWAR. I produced the music video for this song back in the day and this clip made me laugh out loud. In a lot of way the guys hit it right on the head. It really put a big smile on my face since in the end good music transcends all space and time. Thank you.

now is time for Paradise Lost! one of most important metal bands all time. "Enchantment", "Shadowkings", Forever Failure" (and in fact anything from "Draconian Time"), "True Belief", "Tragic Idol", "Gothic" (2013 version), "embers Fire", Faith Divides Us, Death Unites Us"... man =, they have so many great songs XD but for first hearing "Enchantment" will be best.

    • @BarfAttack
      @BarfAttack 6 лет назад +3

Damn, I was thinking just that while watching the vid. Enchantment would be the best introduction to the band, for sure.

It would be REALLY cool to see these guys react to a pair of PL tracks back to back - one of their more classic songs, and one from their Depeche Mode influenced albums.

You stole my thunder dude - Paradise Lost invented Goth metal and have so many awesome songs. The guys seem to really appreciate well made songs so your suggestions are great. I reckon they would really appreciate Enchantment or As I Die for starters.

After seeing em live, "Too Late: Frozen" became my favorite of theirs. The whole show was great, but the blizzard the snow machines created on stage (and their performance) really made that song for me.

So glad you guys enjoyed this one! Type O Negative had a sound all their own, and the departure of Peter Steele from this plane of existence is still felt by many. A few other good suggestions for this amazing band:

Why do casual Type listeners always go to this thinking its a must listen? I'd rather them listen to Wolf Moon or Green Man from October Rust. Break the mold people.
