So many great songs! I'll just throw "Nettie", "World Coming Down", "Creepy Green Light", and "Anesthesia " out there for you guys to check out! RIP to the Green Man Pete! 💚
The best song by Type O, in my opinion, is Anesthesia. Also the guitarists favorite song too. I recommend you guys try that next. I think it would be a particularly good Patreon exclusive too.
Type O Negative is my favorite band of all time and this song (along with Mirror Reaper by Bell Witch) is one of the songs that most comforted me when I lost three aunts all within the span of a year and a half. The song is actually about his mother, father, and uncle all dying within the span of a 3-4 years and the depression he fell into as a result. Really sad stuff.
Definitely miss this band a lot. Peter was unique and different and the band was all their own. They always kicked ass. And they may write depressing lyrics or music at times, but they are a masterpiece band. Miss this group!
I love how type o negative has touched the lives of many regardless of skin color and it has opened everyone a lot a from different race , amazing channel you guys should be at 1mil subs.
Uh...the "Everyone I Love is Dead" part is the best part of the song lol but seriously, Type O were one of a kind. All of their albums were cool. This one is the most sabbath-y and the most depressing. It was written during a very honest time in Pete's life - depression, addiction, loss, etc, and reflected in the lyrics.
Type O Negative is my favorite band of all time. They did everything on another level, truly masters at their craft. Some favorites of mine by Type O are 12 Black Rainbows, Stay Out of My Dreams, A Dish Best Served Coldly, Wolf Moon, and White Slavery. I love that you two are diving into Type Os discography and seem to enjoy their music. Great reaction guys! 🤘💚
I gotta say, the link to this band October Noir is appreciated. While i do t think there will ever be another Type O, this group really acratches that itch in a way no one else has ever even come close!
Hey guys, there are still so many Type O songs to be discovered which makes it difficult to choose the “right” ones, true. Yet, in order to cover a wider spectrum of how their music evolved in terms of sound, lyrics and most important: moods, I suggest to review the following songs (listed in chronological order): 1. “Unsuccessfully Coping …” a masterpiece, epic in its originality and the way Pete describes his feelings of experiencing betrayal. The backing vocals at the end: comedy gold! 2. “Xero Tolerance” - same topic which leads to “Pete`s” reaction. 🪓 - Also brilliant. (both from their debut album Slow, Deep and Hard). 3. “We Hate Everyone” (“Bloody Kisses”) - describes how the band was heavily misunderstood and misjudged by religious groups, politically left and right winged people etc. showing an ignorant and superficial approach to Type O´s lyrics and comments in the press. 4. “Be My Druidess” (“October Rust”) - The most intimate lyrics ever in a rock song. 5. “Wolf Moon” (“October Rust”) - A song about, yes:, the female cycle! Only Pete can make a song about female menstruation sound sexy! 6. “Everything Dies” (“World Coming Down”) - probably one of the most characteristic Type O songs: This is what Type O sounds like! 7. Several songs from “Life is Killing Me”, such as “Nettie”, “Anesthesia” (esp. the live version at Wacken 2007), “The Dream is Dead”. Lasts but not least: the great cover of “Angry Inch” which is even cooler than the original version! Lyrics are hilarious! 8. “Dead Again”, the title track of their last album. A song about drug abuse. 💉 Great song, intense lyrics. 9. “The Profit of Doom”, “September Sun” are stand-out tracks on that album. “Halloween in Heaven” is fun to listen to. Long way to go, guys, but the journey is gonna be worth it: believe me. Cheers, Heiko
Type O was one of the most Iconic Goth bands. I don't love all their songs but Pete was a great musician and his music reflected his life and the suffering of his human condition. Such an imposing front man RIP. Btw these songs he put together I guess was a way of him coping with the death of his parents.
Everything Dies is imo reflective of ppl he loved dying and coping with loss and reality. But not all of his songs were about his parents. They were a way of him dealing and coping with life, drugs, relationships, etc. He talks in an interview about how all of his songs are so personal for him he wouldn't really want anyone else singing them.
Thanks for bringing us more Type-O! I grew up with this band as the soundtrack to my late teens and early 20s. Saw them four times live and loved every minute of it. They're one of a kind.
In my opinion, Type O is best in their interludes and codas. For example, on Wolf Moon, in the final section where Peter sings ‘Beware the woods at night, beware the lunar light’, that whole section both music and lyrically, is just painfully beautiful. The guitar solo section of Todd’s Ship Gods is like that too- melodically stunning. So many incredibly beautiful sections hidden in between things in their songs. And for those mentioning Anesthesia, spot on. Incredible song.
Holy crap, I never knew that. I’m listening to Carnivore right now and it’s pretty great. So different than I expected, but also so many similarities that I can hear.
You might want to check out Fallout then. First real band Pete formed. They've put out two songs, "batteries not included" and "rock hard" both of them are very good and give out that early type o vibe
The "effect" on his vocals is, for the most part, simply doubled & tripled vocal tracks. Thicker & richer that way. A common studio trick, with fantastic results. He often did vocals in the lower octave as the foundation, and added the mid & upper octave vocs for the complex vocal tones that grab you as one big huge voice.
i always appreciate that you guys try strong ass metal and not just stick with the basics. i started listening to this band at 14, then grew to love gothic rock and post punk like Joy Division, The Cure, Sisters of Mercy and the Chameleons, then went back and became a huge fan of the Peaceville bands: Kataonia, Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride, Anathema this band helped me get there. and dude was a serious homie scoring. RIP to Peter, cheers to you
This album was written right after Peter Steele lost several family members, and that's the perspective of the song. I'd also highly recommend "Red Water Christmas Mourning" - probably the most sorrowful Christmas song you'll ever hear. As far as Type O Negative's campiness, they were originally heavier, but a couple of their early songs drifted towards goth metal. They quickly realized there was a strong desire for goth metal, and goth girl groupies were a heavy influence on the band changing their focus. Type O Negative is one of my "staple" bands as well.
Every once in a while I chime in to see what ma dudes of Lost in Vegas do - and man, they never disappoint, they never do! I see them getting more and more confident in the metal genres, and how their key elements are composed. I'd like to add: I am still a big Type 0 fan, and had the pleasure of seeing them live multiple times. I don't even start to descripe, I mean, how could I? Seeing them live, hearing the Green Man - that's something where words fail, and you better shut up. All thumbs up, Lost In Vegas!
I always love Type O Negative. Peter Steele answers the question "What if Frankenstein's Monster sang in a metal band?" Check out "My Girlfriend's Girlfriend", "Cinnamon Girl", "The Green Man"
@@LordDisneyland Type O did a few covers, and their take on those covers is often very good. Their version of Baby Hit Me One More TIme goes dark places, and Summer Breeze is awesome.

There's a parallel universe somewhere where George came up as a goth dude in full goth makeup, blacked out gear, long hair, fake vampire fangs, the whole nine.
Out of bands I listen to, Type O Negative is one of the best at the "wall of sound" as I like to call it. They do a good job building to it, and keeping the energy going through a song, and they also know how to pull back and build up to another wall of sound mid song. Love the reactions, and RIP to the green man Peter Steele.
Pete programmed the drums on everything from Bloody Kisses through Life is Killing Me. It wasn’t until Dead Again that he relinquished some of his control back to Johnny on drums. It is hard to believe since drum technology was still really midi sounding around the time those albums came out. Truly a genius. Kenny and Josh added so much to the sound and really amplified the distorted/chorus bass. My favorite band of all time. RIP PETE

Big fan of Type O Negative. This song is in my top 5. BUT, Everything Dies is absolutely epic. In my opinion one of their best songs. Creepy Green Light is another favorite of mine. Check them out!
About a decade ago, I got really into this song and went around the house singing it constantly. Within a week, two of my dogs died and my last two grandparents died as well. I'm not saying Type O Negative killed them and I'm not saying they didn't, but I haven't listened to this song again until today.
That was an Omen maybe you didn't manifest their deaths but it was almost Prophecy. Thanks for sharing. In the last few years a few from my family have passed including both remaining grand parents.
One of my favorite underrated Type O songs is The Profits Of Doom from their final album. That whole album is amazing but I have a feeling you guys would love it.
You guys are the coolest mfs :D Been in bands and still play and I gotta say you guys are pretty much spot on with describing TypeOs music and bandmates influences. Keep it goin.
I love this band! Their sound is so unique and different. Set me on fire, blood and fire and Nettie are my favourite songs by them. Please listen to Nettie as it’s a song that Peter wrote about his mother. 💚
AWESOME that you got past the ‘vampiric schtick’ and are discovering Type O’s layered and atmospheric music. PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE take a listen to Nettie and World Coming Down.
My favorite by type o negative is "these three things". Lyrics is full of depth. Good ole Pete found religion before passing and tells of it. Not to mention whole album.
I was fortunate enough to meet Peter in Vegas back in 2008. He signed a photo and gave me his pick because he said “I feel sorry for you that you spent money and came all the way from Chicago to see such a shitty band”😂 And definitely check out the song ANESTHESIA!! It’s one their best
"The kiss of death, lips of a thief, "one of the best lines ever. Hits me hard 😢 R.I.P brother Pete
This would be another good band for them to do a deep dive on.
Agreed !
jesus, i saw them live twice... every euro worth...and it was luckily before every as*hole hold their handy in the air...

@@DarknessessB11 nobody likes my music, thats why i love reaction channels, at least i can somewhow relate...
Awesome band.....RIP Peter Steele
I could list off dozens of Type o songs for next up, but I'm going with "Wolf Moon".
I'd love to hear your reaction to Type O Negative's 'Nettie'.
May sound crazy but words become reality.
October Noir! 😮
🖤
I love this band! Their sound is so unique and different. Set me on fire, blood and fire and Nettie are my favourite songs by them. Please listen to Nettie as it’s a song that Peter wrote about his mother. 💚
Gotta do Wolf Moon next for Type O Negative.
Love this song.
AWESOME that you got past the ‘vampiric schtick’ and are discovering Type O’s layered and atmospheric music.
PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE take a listen to Nettie and World Coming Down.
They’re awesome… check out September Sun, and Christmas Mourn (Red Water)
My favorite by type o negative is "these three things". Lyrics is full of depth. Good ole Pete found religion before passing and tells of it. Not to mention whole album.
Dude is fire when he performs. Privileged to have seen them bitd.
When I think about which band could I listen to if I could only choose one for the rest of my life, over them all, its Type O Negative.
MY DYING BRIDE - THE RAVEN AND THE ROSE
Type O Negative is my favorite band of all time as many other people here. Do Wolf Moon or Summer Breeze. Both are fantastic
I always love the line, "Commit the past into blue flame." Sounds like Ryan wants a Mom's Spaghetti remix of this song with the Goddamnit line. 😂
Peter's haunting voice.....damn. RIP
Type o Negative is Art
i saw them in nyc in 97 around halloween..........magic
