- Played as Jeanne (Witch Time only obtainable via Bat Within)
- Pure Platinum rank
Pretty sketchy ending but holy fuck was this satisfying to Pure Platinum. When you reach the third health bar Rodin becomes insanely quick and starts blocking attacks much more frequently, even during Witch Time and Umbran Climax. I almost fucked up at the end when my PPPPK string didn't go off correctly from me dropping the input.
Music was off because it got repetitive as shit after like 6 billion attempts at this bullshit, this is without doubt the most frustrating thing to do in Bayonetta 2.

I'm still not into Jeanne's groove. She's so painful to play. Although the extra damage advantage she has over Bayonetta gives the boost still I'm pretty content on capitalizing those easy to activate Witch Time, whereas Jeanne can only so during Butterfly Within, which is freaking hard to pull.

GeneralBeatrix you were the one who inspired me to do crazy challenges in this confrontation. There are people who do not understand the pleasure of mastering a game system, and on top of that, put your own rules to make it even more refined and challenging
Is it just me or should Jeanne (and Bayonetta) turn into a fox Beast when in the Fox outfit? Maybe a bunch of Arwings when in Bat form?

Does the Gaze of Despair actually make the fight that much harder though? It seems Rodin is already as aggressive as he can get even without it especially in second form, and since you're going for the Pure Plat damage is irrelevant. If anything it helps you for combo points. Dunno, he doesn't really seem much more dangerous than his normal state. The real feat here is doing this without the Bracelet of Time, I always end up using it for his second form, he's just too fucking fast.
I think it can make (PP ranking) the fight easier. I also prefer to fight him with Jeanne using the guns (arwings), and I experimented with Gaze of Despair a little. Normally, GoD makes even docile enemies become unpredictable and dangerous in their attacks, and easily shrug off your stagger/stun, but Rodin is ALREADY like that. His attacks already have so few frames (of startup, animation duration, hitbox connection, and recovery, and they all get even worse as he loses health) and he already blocks/no sells like a madman. So its not as if the gaze of despair makes him that much more frustrating to deal with, he just becomes more persistent . But it DOES make him attack more frequently and seemingly at a more consistent pace, spending less time being idle between attacks or running around. This means parrying him can almost become rhythmic after awhile, since hes attacking more often and the window for a Moth Within dodge is already small, you get to activate it more often=more witch times=more time to accumulate damage. And since you get more magic from attacking enraged enemies, you get more chances to abuse umbran climax (or Bracelet of Time if you fancy) as well, on top of the increased combo points. PKP is such a great method cuz PK(hold) does a shit ton of damage with Arwings, and Jeannes PKP finisher also does a shit ton of damage, you can whittle him down so much easier with her without reliance on accessories, unlike Bayonetta or even Rosa
What I struggle do is beat the fight w/o taking damage. 2nd form Rodin is a total bitch and this player is just really frickin good; in theory its way better to use the method seen above but most players just dont have the reflexes and patience to pull it off
@@bobsanders5225Gaze of Depair does make a tremendous difference in this fight. Rodin brakes almost every attack that comes in, so making combinations even small is difficult. The difference is that the player is using Jeanne, and Jeanne has a Witch Time too long, so it allows a combination in that time without complications. But try Bayonetta or Rosa using Gaze of Depair, and you will see the ocean that separates them from the normal state of Rodin

On a related note, I'm curious - Is the Rodin weapon any fun? It seems interesting, but is it reliable in terms of strength and combo complexity? I have yet to unlock it in the first Bayonetta, so I know very little about it.
Perils of Pokey I don't find using Rodin fun at all to be honest, the style I play (if you could even call it a style) is a shit ton of hold shots with projectile weapons because of the consistent damage application and ease of offsetting. Rodin attacks are all mostly slow to wind up but medium-high damaging and honestly kinda shitty to combo together, for me personally anyway. I'm sure better players than me could use it creatively.
Also you can just run around spamming the K attack with Rodin and decimate everything, its a bunch of high damage and high stagger slashes that can stunlock basically everything lol

Rodin pisses me off, but I'm not gonna give up. Great video, and you know what? I'm getting fucked countless time by Rodin (and I haven't beaten him yet!) and hell no gaze of despair even! Thumbs up for you.

Gurshan Singh. Beating rodin I don't believe is canon, its a side mission. I don't believe bayo or jeanne is actually capable of bestin rodin in their storyline, as they know of his power. They would probably have to 2v1 him, even then they may not win.
The bayo vs dante fight for death battle, you shouldn't put much stalk in it. The controversy over the fight is massive. As far as I'm concerned it should have ended in one of these four ways: draw, sex, team up or bayo winning but NOT easily.

Good god, would it even be POSSIBLE to fight this asshole as Dante, Vergil or Nero? You need to be fast as Sonic, hard as the Hulk and as lucky as Domino!
Michael Nahrilas In Dante's case, I suppose you'll need to master Royal Guard Style and Lucifer. For Vergil's case, teleport everywhere and abuse Judgement Cuts and for Nero, do a small sword combo, buster and then lvl 3 charged shot. But this is Rodin we're talking about. It's like fighting Credo, except 7 times faster tham him.

And this is DMC4 SE we're talking about, so things will get a little bit sluggish, even on Turbo Mode.

Iroquois Pliskin I would if Tag Climax let you play Solo as Rodin :( you have to use an AI partner (or online) and constantly pick them up when they take damage.
