I had no idea these were a thing, but holy moly that coverage saturation is really something! Esepcially impressed with that orange, will have to give that a shot when they are released.
To me the satin finish is a good addition. For people use washes and what not, this will aid in capillary action out of the gate. There's no need to kill off any established blends you've created by addin a gloss coat prior to washes. You can now paint, add washes, and kill the shine. It saves you a step
Another bonus: satin in better for dry brushing. I love my Kimera pigments but being ultra-matte I need to mix in satin medium for good dry brushing results.
Thanks for the presentation. Would have loved to see how they behave if you thin them down to a wash level, as far as I think you used them quite thick.
I’ve seen you in the Monument Discord, didn’t know you had a channel. Thanks for the video! I just heard about these the other day, I’m hoping the line is consistent like this. Army Painter is everywhere, it would be great if new painters stumble across good paint instead of the current War Paints line which…isn’t ideal. I’ve been impressed playing around with some of the 2.0 Speed Paints. If AP keeps this quality and sticks near their current pricing, they’ll be putting others on notice.
I got these in the post as well, such an improvement over the previous Warpaints. I'm itching to get hold of some brighter Fanatic colours so I can see how they glaze over each other.
I wonder how long they last. In certain circumstances. Longevity, light exposure, etc. Against cold and heat. If it stands up, then this will end up possibly being one of the best -mjar
They look ok. But I am not as impressed as I was with Golden SoFlat Acrylics or the new Vallejo Game Colors. I prefer very matte colors with high coverage.
I was excited about the Vallejo game colors and was already saving for the all in when they release a new starter set...😐 If they ever do. But damn Army Painter i might has well wait for this set 😅. I already have the mega set 2.0 speed paint so this will fit perfectly.
I'm new to painting and have done all of my minis using AP Speed Paints 1.0 and the Mega 2.0 set with just a few straight up (non-contrast) "regular" paints. As a noob, can someone explain to me why I would want to add these paints to my arsenal? The Warpaints Fanatic line so far looks excellent but how would I integrate them with my speed paints?
I use speed paints a lot as glazes and tint. They can provide depth of color and vibrancy to otherwise flat colors. stay tuned I have tutorials coming that will highlight this
I've been so impressed with their speed paint 2.0 series I can't wait to try their new standard acrylic line. Their customer service is 2nd to none as well and they listen to their customers and apply the feedback to their new products
Our Colour Match system continues for the tried and true most popular colours across the Colour Primer, Warpaints Air, and now Fanatic line. Some colours will be retired and renamed in order to build what we think is the most comprehensive range in the mini paint industry. With 216 colours to choose from, you’re sure to find the ride shade for your next mini.
@@col.festus take a look at the new vallejo game color bottles. they have a new top that is far better than the old ones. and they are called dropper bottles because they can dose like the medication bottles and do not spill.
I am glad you enjoy them but from what I've seen here I am not overly impressed (yet). Most of the features you mentioned seem like things you'd expect from modern day miniature paints? A paint not having any medium come out after being on a vortex mixer with a steel ball inside isn't exactly a standout feature. It's what I'd expect to happen. The only brand that has this issue is Scale75. Pretty much all other brands like AK have this figured out since years ago. Same goes for coverage when you take paint "straight from the pot" without any thinning. Especially over a grey basecoat, I'd basically expect strong paints like greens or blues to cover on the first coat. I also didn't find the colors as vibrant as you mentioned but that might be down to youtube or my monitor settings. Don't get me wrong. I like Army Painter and will give these a try, it's just that nothing I've seen here makes me super excited. The orange did come out nice though. So maybe that's a sign of things to come. Thanks for the review!
Did you see the ad/announcement Army Painter made themselves, and how the yellow looked? Single stroke over a black base, and almost complete coverage with a pale yellow (none of that ochre cheating)? I actually made an experiment earlier this week where I compared 1-3 coats of yellow from various paints from Monument, Reaper, Scale75, GW (though that pot was rather old so it might not be representative), and GSW's new opaque line. The only one that managed full coverage even with three coats was GSW, and the only other that came close was ProAcryl. Now, it's hard to tell from a brief glimpse in a video (and I wish Army Painter had included yellow in their sample boxes - that would have been a real gauntlet thrown in front of the other paint makers), but it looks like the new AP paint covers about as well in one coat as GSW does in two (almost but not quite completely). Now, I get that some people like translucent paints like Reaper, because it lends itself more to gradually building up highlights and shadows. Me, I'm of the school that thinks "two thin coats" means the paint is defect because good paint should cover completely in a single thin coat.
I was a paying punter :p that’s how I got them! Apparently these got sent out to random people on the army painter fan page and if you’ve purchased directly from them.
Correct! Top fans and customers were the first to try the finished product (many painters, gamers, and hobbyists were involved with testing over the years).

Thanks for the overview, these look very promising indeed.
I'm so excited for this line! But I can see how the glossy finish could be a deal breaker for followers of the Church of Matte Paint though.
Get some VMS matte varnish. Will kill any shine dead, perfect every time. I’m a recent convert to satin myself :)
Whatever a paint's finish is should never been a problem because you should be varnishing the model at the end.
they can just buy scale 75 or the new vallejo game color paints as those are super matte
Easily solved with a varnish at least
I got these in the mail last week. They were a huge improvement over the last iteration of Army Painter paints IMO.
Love them!
I've been thinking about getting a mega set of paints just to have around, and these look really good, to be honest. Definitely up there on my list.
Thanks for the review! Looks pretty good
Thanks for the presentation. Would have loved to see how they behave if you thin them down to a wash level, as far as I think you used them quite thick.
I’ll def be doing more videos. I want to try them through an airbrush with different thinners as wwll

Rumor has it one of their goals was to make the paint consistency as close as possible across the entire range :)

So absolutely new paints, been on a vortex mixer... Yes no separation is supposed to be special?
Yes some paints I do get separation quickly on a wet pallet, especially metallics

Wonder what this means for their Air line of war paints since they are not making the old war paint after these release.
I believe they will still be supported as they are for different applications.

A super important trait for great companies :)
Would love to see if the colours match the Old version!
I’m curious about that as well. I haven’t used the old warpaints other than the airline, which was unique and old colors mixed together r

I want that Goblin Green, I like the color, but hate the paint behavior!
Yeah. Def impressed. It seems spot on :D
the color looks nice so far. but please put em in a dropper bottle. vallejo does it and its a real thing.
They are in dropper bottles? 🤔

Gotta say I’ve used uses monument, Ak, Vallejo, scale and citadel. If the rest of the line is like these I’ll be switching.
