Canon EF/S eye/face tracking on the 7artisans EF-SE Lens Adapter for Sony Cameras

- The 7Artisans EF-SE adapter incorporates most, if not all, functions the Sony is capable of. It may require a reboot and a button press, but it works- just not quite as well as the same lenses adapted to Canon mirrorless cameras using Canon adapters.
Let's take a short look at the adapter on a Sony A7IV using a few of my favourite Canon EF/S lenses:
1. Canon 40mm F/2,8 STM
2. Canon 18-55 F/3,5-5,6 IS STM
3. Sigma 50mm F/1,4 EX DG HSM
If you are a Sony user that doesn't need weather sealing who is interested in using Canon EF/S lenses, the 7Artisans is a great choice.

Just picked this up for Sony fx30 here’s my experience:
EF 24-70 - AF works like a charm continuous focus and all! Only issue is no IS on this one but it’s a huge issue for me since I have steady hands and can fix in post.
EF - 70-200 I (older lens) Continuously AF works for like 5 mins and then just stops working which is weird. I have no aperture control either. However the IS is still available for me. If any one knows a way around the aperture control that’d be great!
50 MM - Everything works great! My aperture only goes to 2.8 instead of 1.8 which is a slight bummer.
EF 18-55 - Full function with Continuous AF, IS and Aperture control. AF is a tad bit slower than the other lenses and hunts just a tad depending on distance.
All in all the is def the best adapter for EF lens to Sony body if Video focus is a big deal breaker for you.
I personally won’t be updating it just because I’ve heard that doing so will make things stop working and customer support is garbage so trying to downgrade the firmware is a pain. Hope this helps someone!
Are you using the original 24-70 or the MKII? I love the original, and only dislike that it isn't sharp like the MKII version is on high-res sensors. But what a well-desiged lens. Thanks for the comment.
@@FauxtakuLounge using the original I just did some in house test shots. No field shots yet so I can’t attest to the sharpness. I mainly only use it for sports so I’ll have to hone in my MF skills. I don’t know how healthy it is for me to be turning the camera on and off every 5 mins just to reset the AF function 😂😂
Glad to see u back!
2 questions. It’s good for photography too? Have someone tried the 17-50 from sigma? Nice review
Welcome back ☺️
Cheers man. I'll do my best to manage this thing.
Awesome!
When you can would love to see EFS lenses. 55-250 is probably the most popular. Good Review
You know what? As much as I liked what the Sony could do, I couldn't stand its interface and just went back to Canon. I don't have the A7IV or the adapter anymore. Cheers.
@@FauxtakuLounge hahaha Fair call mate I just came from Canon and am slowly regretting it but going to grind it out and see how it goes hahaha
I hope you enjoy your sojourn. @@Mr.Stanley007
The mount is very bad when changing aperture, leading to the phenomenon of shooting at the wrong aperture and raising the EV brightness after shooting.
wow good job 👍 Unbelievable 👏👏
Too great of praise for a low-effort video, but thanks.
Hi, can you switch to manual focus with this adapter? Especially when you using Canon 50mm 1.8 STM lense on Sony Alpha camera
You can switch to MF, but doing so just like you do on a Canon body is iffy.
aperture stuck on 50mm 1.8 stm canon. using a7c and a7iv. what firmware are you using for your adapter?
It was the latest. Sometimes you need to re-connect.
