    Hi BT how are you? I am well and now I’m cleaning the planes. My first two weeks we were helping people print out their boarding pass. I started officially cleaning the planes yesterday. I have the 2:00-10:30 pm shift now Sunday through Thursday. I bid for the next shift 6:00-2:30 or 9:30-5:00. I’m not sure what I will get. The results come out next week. I’m love working for my airline. I am so ready to travel. Thanks for keeping us updated in this industry.

    I really appreciate you making all of these fabulous vids! I've been watching quite a few of them! Quick question about the scheduling... What if you get hours that you can't work and nobody will take your shift? For example, you have a class in the evening, so evenings won't work. Or, you have an important medical or other appointment that you cannot miss.

    • @TheBohemianTraveler
      @TheBohemianTraveler  2 года назад +1

      Generally you have to trade with others and get that shift covered. If it’s a medical appointment, you can use your sick time.

    Hello! I’ve been completely inspired by your journey! I have been selected to do an in person interview with SW (I have no idea what to expect? Will it be a one on one or a group?) so nervous. I was thinking about wearing there colors to the interview, is it to much lol 😊

    • @TheBohemianTraveler
      @TheBohemianTraveler  7 месяцев назад

      Congrats on your interview! I have no clue what the process may be like. Many times if there’s a lot of people, they usually start off with a group interview and then, if they like you, they go into individual interviews. Know the star method and look very professional. Good luck and let me know how it goes! Thank you so much for watching!

    How do I get started working for the airlines if I have no experience? What would my resume need to say if I want to start working as a ramp agent? Thanks for any suggestions ! Love your channel!

      Kirsten Heikkila I've been noticing they've been hiring a lot of people with FedEx experience and cargo experience. I don't have any experience with that. I'm not 100% sure because I got this job because I started as a customer service agent first and then transferred to ramp. What time of jobs have you had in the past? If I were you I'd apply with or without experience. You could also get your foot in the door by working at a job in the airport. It doesn't matter which capacity. Even if it's food service. They will see that you work in the airport and it will give you a leg up. Good luck and thanks for watching!

      Get a job at a hardware store.
      Home Depot in particular. More specifically, work your way into the Recieving Department. I learned logistics, i got my forklift licenses, and i life 50-90 pound concrete bags on an almost daily basis.
      I doubt ramping is much harder than that.

    When the new bids come out and you're given your scheduled shift, how long do you have to communicate with your co-workers to switch shifts? Also, in the app can you just post your shifts to be taken/ you take others' shifts or do you need to ask your coworkers?
    Thanks!

    • @TheBohemianTraveler
      @TheBohemianTraveler  6 лет назад

      Mike Merva Great question. Once the bid comes out you’re gonna want to switch shifts right away because that’s when everyone does their major trading. However, throughout the bid if you need days off, you just text your co-workers for trades or put up your shifts for others to pick up. You can do everything on the app on your phone.

    Are there a minimum amount of hours and or days you have to work in a month?

    • @TheBohemianTraveler
      @TheBohemianTraveler  7 лет назад +2

      chatoyér woody we used to have a minimum hours requirement at our job. We needed to work a particular amount within a pay period. Now, they've relaxed that requirement. Other airlines may want you to work at least 50 percent of your scheduled shift. It totally depends on the airline you work for.

      Anthony Windfield It wasn’t for me. I just paid close attention to the lecture and took notes. We had tons of quizzes. Before training, we were given a few weeks to prepare for the city code test.

    If you’re part time at the airlines do you think it definitely is easier to hold down a real income full time job?

    • @TheBohemianTraveler
      @TheBohemianTraveler  7 месяцев назад +2

      It totally depends upon the hours and how many hours they have you work at the airline. I have a friend that works Southwest, and she gives away all her shifts except one a week. I don’t know if it’s going to be the same at your station, but at her station, everyone’s picking up other peoples hours. So she works her business.

    do gate agents have a similar bidding system? when applying for a job are you making yourself less attractive to them by seeking a part time job vs full time?

    • @TheBohemianTraveler
      @TheBohemianTraveler  5 лет назад

      Robert San Luis yes. gate agents have a similar bidding schedule. It doesn’t matter if you apply part time or full time. They just need to know if you are flexible and able to work weekends/ holidays/ odd hours etc.

    As part time how many hours you have to work a week or month to qualify for flight benefits?

    • @TheBohemianTraveler
      @TheBohemianTraveler  Год назад +2

      Every airline is different. Some require you to keep at least half of your hours while others don’t require any type of minimum. As long as you get your shift covered, you’re good. So it totally depends.

      For instance the if you are number 23 in seniority, you choose 23 shifts from most desired to least desired. If you are one in seniority, you get your number one choice. If people more senior to you choose the shift you want, they get the shift.
