  • have been playing around with the yak lately and trying to see if I can get it setup how I want it with only using random parts around the house and minimal amazon purchases lol sound some old suspension parts in a trade at work that made a good motor mount when added to some TV mounting brackets (already tried it for 6 hours on the water and held up perfectly) . still haven't found anything lying around to make a fish finder mount but the lucky fish finder from Amazon is perfect for a depth finder and was just what I needed . transducer mount also from TV brackets and a few wingnuts I had lying around. marine battery is in a cooler that fit it perfectly and I can zip it up to stop rain getting on it .just ran some eyelets down the side for the cable and soon I'll get some connectors and run the wiring thru the hull so I can just plug it in when I get to the water. found a neat "cup of rope " in another trade in and used the rope for my anchor trolley. might still spend a few bucks on pulleys to make it smoother . old crate and another cooler with a few cheap pole holders works well. used water tight caulk and sealer on all things screwed in and I don't worry a bit about taking on water (has a drain built in just in case ) line the motor up perfectly so when it is raised all my poles can be accessed and when it's lowered I just have to move one to the front holder which is where I usually keep them anyways. FYI this is not a stable stand up kayak , but I've never flipped it and having the battery in the front was mandatory to distribute the weight. without supper plugs she will take on a good amount of water. also mounted the paddle a little lower than usual to keep out of the way when I reel in fish . might make a video on the water soon .I can lean back with the motor stick right over my shoulder and just lightly tap it now and then to adjust my angle and makes it where I can relax back with a beer and cruise and still use it to "self spot lock " while I fish . it'll get me by until I get an outlaw 11.5 and put a wireless motor on it for sure. just don't think you have to buy all these mounts and things to have a good kayak setup ! there's usually something lying around in the garage that will work fine and tbh I used to clamp the motor right to the rear of all my kayaks and works perfectly fine...don't listen to folks saying you need some pvc mount off to the side , you can literally just clamp it on and go
