Like the fact that you made it look chic, talked about all essentials, and named parts exactly, and the muscle shots were a definite plus! Thank you.
Best comment on here!
Very nice, good use of the existing options of the kayak with needing to drill holes or clamp thing to it.
About time someone showed some brains do easy not like some of them that need an engineer to fit thx realy smart way
Awesome video AZ. I’ll be visiting my local Lowe’s this weekend. Hopefully, I’ll be visiting my local inlet shortly after!
Nice, easy, functional, and inexpensive. Good pace to the video.
Great idea... now I know already how to start with my kayak trolling motor mounting. Thanks bro.
Anytime. Thanks for watching
AZ Legend Adventures, I have the same yak and because of you Vid I have my Trolling Motor on my yak ready to hit the water!!! Awesome Vid and info!!!
Awesome!! Glad I could help!

This is my favorite one so far! Nice job explaining. You might have a future in teaching......or boating..... Either way, thanks a bunch!
Awesome! I’m definitely trying this!
Hey man, Tanks “A” , I’m ordering a 17 sea from Delta kayaks Jan 2022.Built my own 12 kayak in grade 8,now paddling 17 aluminum Grumman 😀,I’m a do it Yourself type,Your info helps.Old guy Lake of da woods! Pls keep it up 👍 and on the Rails!
looks like a simple and solid design
Great video! Best idea I've seen for my kayaks. I'm gonna be building this for sure!
Let me know how it turns out!
Great job thanks for posting this. Just bought my 128 a few days ago!

Great idea bro thanks a lot.
Just bought a Jackson Kraken 13.5 and since I'm a 66 yr. old man. Was contemplating how to put a 2.5 hp outbound (Suzuki/Yamaha since they're lightweights) on it in case I get tired paddling. Your video answered that, ingenious without drilling holes into my kayak. So you got yourself a new subscriber..
Thanks for watching!!
Did this rig up on my kayak and tested it out yesterday. Works great. Thanks for the video. You made it easy.
Cheri Manes awesome glad I could help. Post a pic! Thanks for watching!
I have photos and a video of it in action but I don't know how to post it. My female hands can build a motor mount but can't work a phone hahaha.
AZ Legend Adventures try this

Thanks. I was thinking of this when I saw the other video of the guy with bent pipes. $200 for the kit is too much. Thanks again.
Thanks for watching!! Yeah no need to spend so much!!

Great
do you find , that with it being on the right side, the kayak tilts more that way? If so how much?
A lot easier just to bolt a plastic milk crate on end, and use it as a transom, mine tips over if weight of motor is on the side.
Veri nice estetic mount. But how is the kayak balance, it is reclining on the side?
Very good 👍 Do you think closer to the stern the motor is mounted the better the control ?
I was wondering how you did that! Great vid bro!
Awesome idea I've just subbed .if you could with your idea ,have the 2x4 just above the rod holder mounts ? , im looking to do mine with a Honda 2.3 short shaft outboard ,keep on trucking brother 👌😘
Thanks for watching and subn. Yes can Def. Put rod holders on the 2x4 I just don't really need it. I am mostly on the river
Awesome video. Like how you showed each piece of hardware and took the time while getting straight to the point of this video.. where did you put the battery and what type of battery did you use? Do you have a video of the yak on the water?
Agreed
ruclips.net/video/Ms6LCEIDc7w/видео.html second part!
Do you have a video on making a pvc kayak trailer to pull behind a bicycle or lawn mower/golf cart?
nice God bless
Thx for the video. Was thinking about this exact concept. A few questions / comments:
1. Do you notice the kayak leaning to the right due to the weight of the motor? Have you considered adding weight on the left side (or maybe eventhe battery itself) to balance it out?
2. Is there a reason to have the cross bar so high? Was thinking about having the crossbar / 2x4 resting on the top of the kayak, and maybe tie it down for added security even in case of a flip.
3. Have you flipped the kayak with this motor on? Everything stayed put?
4. Are you concerned the plug in the cross fitting might crack if the boltb is tightened tightened too much? Seems a bit of a weak spot...
Overall very nice build. Thanks a bunch.
Hi friend Thanks for the comments.
So I put the batter in the back on the opposite side of the motor and it even the weight out perfect.
I made the cross bar at a level I thought would be comfortable for my hand to control. You can go any height you like with same performance.
Noooo I do not want to flip, that would wreck my trolling motor and battery
And it is very strong and sterdy does. It feel like it would crack at all.
Good thinking 😉👍🇩🇰🇩🇰🇩🇰🇩🇰🇩🇰
Thanks for watching!!
Like the music.
Nice work. How and where do you secure your battery?
How did you lower the toro for easy access to the handle?
Great & easy DIY, I'm starting on it for my kayak today. Recently diagnosed with a rotator cuff tear that is not eligible for surgical repair, I need a little help paddling. My Kayak is the same length, and similar to yours. What size trolling motor do you recommend, and the proper battery size?
ruclips.net/video/Ms6LCEIDc7w/видео.html second part!
Really loved the videos. Just purchased used 128 T in great condition.
Will use the same setup thanks to you. Do you think Minn Kota 30lbs will be good? I will use in the bays, sometimes get chubby.
Thanks
Yes that's what I use is the 30 lbs. Plenty of power. Thanks for watching!
Is there away I don’t have to do anything with my fishing rod holder
what motor did you use bro?
I have a sun dolphin journey 10 and it appears to have the same for holders as the one in the video. I've purchased a length of 1 1/4 pod just to see how it will work, and I can't get it down in there - too big. when I unscrew those screws will it fit? If I cut the slit up the length will that make it fit? Any help greatly appreciate. Great video!
Yes unscrew the rod holders as you push it in. It will self adjust. If it's to tight in the rod holder make the slit bigger.
Can you make a rig for a smaller kijyc that has a flat botom
Good tutorial video! One thing though: because you have mounted the motor on the 2x4 in the angled position it is in, the trolling motor is now sitting in an angled position in the water. You could correct this by using spacers between the bolt head and the 2x4.
Great thinking! I will try this! Thanks!
@@sunamii1080i I'm getting ready to do your method in a couple days. Looks great except for instead of using spacers to level the 2x4 it looks like you can just tilt the 4 way a little bit before you glue.
How high do you mount the motor board?
thanks for the video brotha. with the motor, do you think you need a rudder system or can you control the yak comfortably with the motor?
Hi!! A rudder system would definitely help. It was hard to stay straight. I'm going to make one next! Thanks for the comment.
ruclips.net/video/Ms6LCEIDc7w/видео.html second part!
Hello! I ask you if placing the engine on the side of the kayak goes sideways or goes straight. You think that for trolling it is very little a 20Lbs. It is a small and light one. Thank you!
It's gill go straight u will have the motor at a slight angle to go straight
Great vid man and thanks for sharing! I guess its been a while since you had it on now wondering how its holding up and if your still satisfied with the mount? Just picked up the same yak and will attempt to build but wondering how it has working up to now Thanks!
ruclips.net/video/Ms6LCEIDc7w/видео.html
Thanks for watching!click the link above, it's part 2 where I use the trolling motor. This video was made over a year later. So yes it is holding up great. I still use the same orginal one in the video!
How ouch does that trolling motor weigh ?
Any idea to lengthen the control arm so that one doesn't end up all twisted to the right controlling the motor ?
They sell extension kits or make your own out of pvc pipe and some wire to ann the extension.
Awesome job really helpful..
How's the turning radius when you mount it like that??
Angelo Panacci it's has a 360 turning radius. Can go in circles! Thanks for watching!
ruclips.net/video/Ms6LCEIDc7w/видео.html second part!
How’s it drive? I rigged my motor in a similar position but had problems with the boat just going in circles, I’m guessing because the motor is so close to the center. Any issues?
Mine drives really good! Mine sits a bit more behind than the center.
Seems like a lot of torque on those rod holders. How has it held up
It holds up really good. I haven't had any issues. Makes sure you glue it tight.
Your design is cool. My kayak tackle hole is 7.5" deep x 1-1/2". I brought pvc same size, wrong. I went to PVC mark 1", found out that's inside diameter, the O.D is a around 1-3/4". I saw your pvc 1-1/4" and it fit nicely with a slit. Can you tell me the hole size of your tackle holder? I'm more than $50 and still can't make it to work. The two 7.5" long stainless steel bolts + washer + log nut are over $30 alone. Love some help. Thanks.
Blue del Ray just make the slit, bigger! That should do it. I went the length of the pole holder. Let me know.
Or do the same size as me. From what I found most kayak have the same size pole holder diameter. Also u have to lose the screws that hold the rod holders to the kayaks and let it turn to the shape of your trolling motor mount. Then Press all the way down drill new holes and add screws. Always add silicon.
AZ Legend Adv, I did one slit, made it larger, as it grow larger, there's a point where it won't be squeeze shut close. I counter slit on the opposite side, then made it larger and will go in only up to half the entire length of the slit to the point the stability is compromised, wobbly. The length of the hole is 7.5" to make it go all the way is to increase slit to 15" and it become too high and ugly. It could have been a nice design if it works. Thank you so much.
AZ Legend Adv: You're correct, pole holder are much standard in hole size but I don't know what going on. The alignment is taken cared off. I also start looking for electrical pvc tube hoping the thickness might be thinner. It is harder to find the size. Thank you much.
ruclips.net/video/Ms6LCEIDc7w/видео.html second part!
how did you go about figuring how high to go even before you added the motor?
I guessed lol!!! Worked out perfect for me and my body stature.
So I want to purchase a BOTE inflatable dock and create an attachment similar to yours to get a trolling motor on the back of it. They sell fishing rod paddleboard attachments online that just have a tight suction that surface clamps down. I could put the PVC pipes in that only problem is that idk where to mount it?! Maybe the middle of the board but it’s 10X10 inflatable dock so idk how that would work exactly. I just really want to get a motor on this board and I know there has to be a way! Any thoughts or ideas are most welcome !!!
In your case I would get the power drill with the trolling motor end! Suction cups probably will not hold it. It does have weight and torque! Or they sell small battery powers motors.
I just bought all these supplies identical to what you showed minus the paint and it was $70 😮😮😮😮
You can thank Joe Biden for the inflation!
@@sunamii1080i yeah exactly! Worthless trash FJB!!!!!!!!!!
How long is your trolling motor shaft and what is the length you cut your 2x4.
ruclips.net/video/Ms6LCEIDc7w/видео.html second part!
How has this held up??? Still using it? Going to build one using your method. Any changes you would make to what you did here?? Asking because the video is a few years old. Wondering if you had any updates on it. Thanks!!
Hi! Yes u still. Use the same one! It works great. Make sure u use pvc pipe glue. Thanks for watching!
How heavy is your electric motor? I'm looking for a way to mount a 2hp petrol outboard. Wondering if this is strong enough.
Hadleigh Townsend I'm not sure how heavy it is. Not heavy at all. You do have to put the battery on opposite side of kayak, to even out the weight.
ruclips.net/video/Ms6LCEIDc7w/видео.html second part!
when it's tilt out the water does it stay tilted
Yes or I can also just let it hang down. Depending on your trolling motor. Mine has lots of adjustments.
I’ve read many comments saying you want the trolling motor at least 12” in the water. This looks like it barely goes down past the hull of the kayak?
When I drop my Trolling Motor all the way down it goes right below my kayak no problem.
Watch part 2 and you can see it in use!
A good build but we would have like to have seen it working
ruclips.net/video/Ms6LCEIDc7w/видео.html second part!
Length of 2x4?
I built something very similar for my son's kayak only problem is I only seem to turn in One Direction with it mounted on the left side
U need a Skag then. That will fix it
why not cjut a couple of t pieces into the cross bar to replace the used rod holders
Did you get your kayak registered after doing this because I live in az too and as soon as you put a motor on it you have to get it registered by the azgfd
not for anything under a certain HP. Trolling would not exceed that.
What kind and spec of the battery your using?
ruclips.net/video/Ms6LCEIDc7w/видео.html second part!
How to make kayak more stable rather than a little tilt to the right because of the trolling motor weight?
I put the battery on the opposite side to counter the weight.
Супер
what length is the shaft of your motor and do you like the height of where everything sits?
You want to know the length of his shaft, LOL!
ruclips.net/video/Ms6LCEIDc7w/видео.html second part!
Great design. The only thing for me is that the mount sits way too high. It would interfere with casting from the right side. Why did you do it so high?
@@jroddy1 it hasn't bothered me at all I have no issues with it it feels more comfortable to handle at that height it's perfect for me. Thanks for watching
How do you steer? I heard that when you mount a side troller like that its difficult to steer without a rudder?
Chris Sanborn it's is a little difficult to steer. But once I got the ha g of it it was easy and I was flying around the lake. But a rudder would help.
@@sunamii1080i do you think that setup would work on a Wavewalk kayak mounted between the 2 hulls rather than on one side or the other? I will be using a Bixpy Motor. Any input would be appreciated.

It might’ve been nice to shorten up the trolling motor because it’s kind of tall for a kayak
what battery do you use?
ruclips.net/video/Ms6LCEIDc7w/видео.html second part!
I live in az too do i have to register my kayak
Jackson Lloyd yes you must register your kayak
AZ Legend Adventures thank you do i have to have navigation lights
Jackson Lloyd only of u are on the water at night. Other Than that, no.
ruclips.net/video/Ms6LCEIDc7w/видео.html second part!
How did this addition affect stability?
State of delivery is great. I put the battery on one side and the trolling motor on the other and it evens out very well. Now there is a lot of torque when the trolling motor takes off. So that is the only thing you have to get used to so you don't flip. But it's no big deal. Thanks for the comment
AZ Legend Adventures I’d love to see part two, i just got this same exact kayak

A lot more realistic than the youtube vid of the guy that says all you need is 70$ worth of materials + a guy that will bend pipes for you -_-#
