    That's a good idea and thanks for sharing. Will be easier to extend the troller handle and wires to your seat with telescope bar? You only need to spice 4 cables and find telescope. When you use it just extend the telescope. Once you done fishing, just shorten your telescop, remove troller motoe out of the boat.

    Do you remember what your measurements were for the bent brackets that go under the handle? Like at what points did you make the bends, etc.

    • @rjguess
      @rjguess  Год назад +1

      I started the measurement behind the handle at the edge where it drops into the back “storage areas” of the kayak. From that edge I believe I went 4-1/2 inches. Made the bend up about 2-3/4 to 3 inches. Then the last bend down to the mount fur trolling motor is going to be around 7-9 inches.

  • @jacobrussell3420
    @jacobrussell3420 Год назад +3

    How do you secure your battery inside of your hull? I've been trying to rack my brain to get it from not sliding around and not drilling more holes down there. Thanks in advance.

    • @rjguess
      @rjguess  Год назад +1

      I cut me a pvc board the width of the battery. The length was from one side of the kayak to the other width wise. So that when I set it in there, the v shape of the kayak was opened enough to get straps under. I glued the oven board to the kayak with so powergrip adhesive. After it was dry, I set the battery on top of the board. Tan the straps around it. I hope that makes sense. I will have you know, this work’s excellent out on the water. I have never left the battery strapped down inside while hauling it to the water.

    Hey there was wondering if you can point me in the right direction on a specific knob to use . For the speed control mechanism

    • @rjguess
      @rjguess  2 года назад +1

      Are you reusing the speed control that came with the trolling motor? If so, what o did was bring that with me to the hardware store. Found a knob that fit. Drilled a small hole through that knob part that fits on the shaft. I then put a cotter pin through that hole to help hold the handle on the shaft of the speed control.

    About to literally try this on this exact kayak. I'm a little confused on the wiring. Any chance you could explain that in more detail?

    • @rjguess
      @rjguess  Год назад +2

      Start with wires that comes from the head of the trolling. The switch that changes the speeds, forward and reverse. Put it where you want it. Run the wires coming from the head to that switch. Stay with the same gauge wire as what is on the trolling motor itself. Mounting that switch where I did was a challenge. So just find a way that you can secure it the best you can. All you are doing really is extending the switch from the head unit of the trolling motor to another location. Does this make sense? Any other questions please ask. I don’t have this kayak anymore. But I’ll try to help explain things the best I can.

  • @maytyler0451

    On the "throttle mechanism" what size were the wires that you used when you had to extend them from where they originally came out of the trolling motor shaft?

    • @rjguess
      @rjguess  6 месяцев назад

      I believe it was 12 and 16. If you get to your original wires on the trolling motor. You should be able to find the exact gauge written on the wire once you take it apart. I just matched them. I hope this helps you out.
