A quick, simple walkthrough and on the water test of my new Garmin Striker 4CV Fish Finder, installed on my 2019 Vibe Seaghost 130. This unit is compact with a 4” screen and has Traditional CHIRP and CearVu technology. The Garmin unit bodes plenty of features in a small package, and is a great option if you are considering mounting a finder to your kayak given its size and simplicity.
Vibe Kayaks did a great job designing features that make installing a fish finder on their boats relatively intuitive and easy. There are a number of different considerations when mounting a fish finder to your boat - what unit to buy, where to place it, how to power it, what holes to cut, what materials to use?
Hopefully this video will help fellow Vibe Seaghost kayak owners looking to add a fish finder to their boat get an idea about how to do a simple and clean install to mount the fish finder unit and power the finder without tearing apart your boat. If you have any questions, leave them in the comments below!

Drill Bits - For Cable Entry Cover Provided by Garmin:
1/8” Drill Bit for Set Screws (2x screws included with Cable Entry Cover)
1/2”-5/8” Drill Bit for Main Cable Entry Cover Hole (I used 1/2” bit because it wasn’t clear in the instructions at first what size to use, but after reviewing the manual per Garmin, a 5/8” bit is recommended to pass the 4 pin power cable thru the cable cover that is mounted on top of the Seaghost heatch. I would recommend starting with drilling a 1/2” bit for your primary hole and thenworking to the next, larger bit size to ensure proper seating and secure fit of the cover. I used the Marine Adhesive on the bottom of the cover and on the threads of the 2 screws before securing the cover and wiped off excess adhesive with a wet rag)

Thanks for the screw info. Never thought it would be metric.
Great video Seaghost 140 will be my next upgrade...thank you
Great video! Neat, plain, and simple! Other videos make it so complicated with all the holes they make on the actual kayak.
Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for the information.
Awesome seeing the channel doing great! I'm the kid you met at Mather lake a few years ago
Thanks man! I remember meeting you and your dad! Hope you and your family had a good Christmas
@@NORCALRODREEL thank you! Hope you had a great Christmas as well slay those fish!
Great informative video, thanks for sharing. It's a big help. ✌️
No problem 👍
The Anchor Wizard is one of my most useful items that I added.
Helped me install mine a few days ago. Thank you for telling us about your experiences to help save some issues on my end. Love my SG130 as well. Great yak.
What the haze?! i love that IPA from Device. Cant wait for the next video man
You have good taste sir 👍🏼
So good to see you back at it! Thanks for all the info
Thanks man and of course! Just trying to help others out who might’ve found it daunting like me to install the finder.
Exactly what bracket did you use for the transducer? Where can I find it
I’m trying to find the same thing
is that the 4ma/h battery or 10? how long does it last you?
It's a 10. I have never had it run out on me during the day. Thus far, great battery. I like that it's compact, simple and having the extra protection too with it's water resistance just makes it very easy to maintain and not worry too much about
This maybe a dumb question… but did you leave the bottom cover off the kayak? Or put it back after you put your transducer in?
Put it back on. The cover is meant to protect the transducer so I would advise best to keep on. I haven’t had any interference issues
Great video, thank you for the info and ideas! Question - do you ever have any issues with water getting through the cord eyelet you drilled when washing down your SG after use? With the exposed power cord unable to be moved, that was my only concern along with water shorting out the cord somehow. Thanks again!!
Non whatsoever. It’s contained well and the battery is closer up the hatch so if water did happen to make it in, which should be minimal if at all (none has made it into mine), the battery is far away behind all the rest of the stuff in the hatch. Further that noqua battery is rubber sealed, it’s not going to corrode or short unless you drop it in the water. Hope that helps!
That transducer plate doesn't interfere with the signal?
I haven’t had any issues.
Where did you get the "cable eyelet"? for the power cable coming out of the console.
It comes with the Garmin when you purchase it. Hope that helps.
Bummer you didn’t catch anything at the deep water channel. I used to live about 2 minutes from that launch.
Man you were lucky. And I actually did catch one by the Locke haha but the GoPro setting was out of wack and just for the clout and a subpar fish, it wouldve been useless to include. Fun fishery! Still trying to figure it out
Nor Cal Rod & Reel yeah there are some good fish in there. Looking to join the kayak community sometime this year and that’s one of the first spots I want to hit up locally.
For sure man! Hope to see you out there sometime. It’s one of the easier and close access point for me so I’ll be out here 👍🏼
Nice Thumbs up
Awesome thanks brother
I fish the same spot in the same boat lol. hit me up if you ever wanna go out for striper
This video would be so much better if you went directly to the install (nothing worse than 5 minutes of unrelated content) and actually listed the size of screw needed. Thumbs down for the reasons listed.
The screw size is in the video description.
