I just finished buying this set up for my "perception pescador pilot 12 pedal kayak." I am so excited to get everything. I just bought EVERYthing I needed thanks to YOU!

Oh, I see what you are talking about..so I already mounted the Garmin Striker Base to the top circle plate. If you look close at 1:31 you can see the Ram Base under the Garmin Striker Base.
I liked this Striker 4 so much that I bought a second one for my other boat. Have been using the first unit, with all my waypoints, between both boats. How about a video showing how to transfer waypoints from one unit to another? Great videos, keep up the good work.
Great videos by the way. I’m trying to. Make this a one step purchase instead of doing it piece meal. So I’m wondering what other things I’m going to need.
Awesome that you ordered one, I am sure you will love it, any questions just ask and I will do my best to answer.....and Yep, down 35 pounds, got a ways to go, but very motivating that you noticed...thanks
@@1Cast1Fish thanks for the reply, im just undecided on what amp battery go for, i'll be doing around 5hrs on the water each trip, am i right they draw around 3watts??
I always recommend the 10 Ah if you can afford the extra money....only because you can run other items off it as well for longer. In reality though the smaller battery will serve you just fine unless you use it for very long periods (days) or run multiple items like phone charger and GoPros from it.
Very helpful video! I got incredibly lucky and got a brand new "vibe sea ghost 110" that came with the striker 4 brand new in box for $300. Been scratching my head for awhile trying to figure out battery options.
That's a nice setup for a kayak. I'm thinking about getting one for the front of my jon boat to use with the built-in transducer on my new trolling motor.
This is fantastic. Thank you so much. Unless someone shows you, you have no idea. You completely explained all the options, so know I will know what I’m talking about. Awesome! Subscribed!
Thank you, I was definitely overwhelmed with all the options and what would be compatible with what when I first decided to add a fish finder to my kayak. I hope this video definitely makes the process easier for others.
I just bought a 16' fiberglass canoe, I'm trying to figure out how I want to mount the transducer. I might try one of those swing arm mounts by Scotty. It's seems what most are doing. I have the striker 4 with clear view, so the transducer is about 6 inches long, I'm hoping that with the arm, the transducer doesn't wobble
Great video! Was trying to find a mount for the Garmin 4. I also watched your installation video of installing with duct seal for drill free installation. This will be my route . Thanks and tight lines
I was walking through the the setup - ran into an issue with the ram mount - can you walk through how you put the mount together - my mount came without screws
I have never messed with putting it in the rear hatch. I should work fine though...the key is no air gaps, and be sure the transducer is below the waterline when mounted.
Your videos are so easy to understand! I only have one question. When you put cords in the hull how do you shut the lid to keep it water tight? Thank you for the great videos.
Good question! I guess it depends on the type of lid you have. My lids have a rubber ring around them, they are not 100% waterproof to start, so I just close my lid over them. I also have seen some people go all out and use the waterproof connector bulkheads and go through the upper part of the kayak with the cords. Lots of variables at play though depending on kayak type and design
@@1Cast1Fish I recently bought the pelican premium the catch 120 waiting for it to come in ordering my Garmin in a few days, ice fishing has been fun but I'm excited for open water!!

Feels like I'm crazy but I tried each arrangement a bunch of times.
Great videos, thank you. Question...In hull mount with the Striker 4, water temp is a feature I use a lot. Would you suggest I use exterior in water mount instead of in hull mount for accurate temp readings?
With the in hull mount the water temp reading will not be accurate. To have accurate water temp readings, you must mount the transducer so that it is in the water
@@1Cast1Fish I can tell you that properly mounted, your water temp will work but might take 30 minutes or so for your hull to match the water temp. Worse case is you’d be a degree or so off. I’ve tested this through my Pelican kayak hull and compared it with an in water and they are very, very close.
i just upgraded my set up from a SLA battery to a nocqua 4.4A. i don’t need to charge any other devices except my garmim striker 4 and would like to keep it minimal to save weight. i noticed in some of your other videos, that you don’t use an in-line fuse as supplied by garmin. if i ad a fuse because of the added wire it would basically make that part of my set up really not waterproof. any reasons for concern or issue not using the fuse? this battery is going to save me about 4lbs on my kayak set up! my other option is to put this battery with the fuse and part of the power cable from the garmin into a waterproof box i already have and use a cable gland to run just the power cable out.
Nocqua Adventure Gear Super Y Connector is out of stock. Do I need an adapter to connect the Nocqua battery to my Garmin Sticker? The layout of the male pins doesn't look like they will connect to the female end of the Sticker
The Y connector is not needed, but you must have the adaptor that comes with the battery kit. The adaptor will have one side of wires that you tie into the fishfinder power cable, then the other side will fit the battery pigtail.
Not 100% on the rail, but the transducer will shoot through a aluminum hull. I have seen mixed reviews with the CV transducer and aluminum hulls though....sometime sit works good, and sometimes not so well. The regular 2D sonar has no issues normally
Am I missing something? The striker comes with lose wires to connect to a 12 V battery and there was no adapter with the nocqua kit that just plugs into the striker. Any idea what piece is missing and where I can buy it? (A two pint plug to connect to a four pin female?)

Is there a chance that you can show part number on the light duty assert mount ? The one that I am looking at on Amazon doesn’t look the same as yours.
Thanks for your informative video. Not that you are to blame, but it is a little surprising how a $122 Fish Finder (the basic version) totals over $300 when you include the minimal basic accessories you have listed. Ouch! There are less expensive mounts and batteries available if you look around.
@@janman55 I agree, that’s always the way it seems. You can save some money though by mounting the fish finder directly to the kayak or using an off brand mount instead of RAM. Also the battery comes in a smaller 4.4ah version that is cheaper…again or you can go off brand or even standard small lead acid battery to save even more. This is just my setup and due to use and abuse I wanted the best I could find, it has lasted years now without issue…that’s why I like these items in particular. Hope this helps a bit
I just got a echomap 73sv and this type of mount looks sturdier than the yak attack lock and load system. I really like that lock and load but it looks very wobbly. Is yours pretty sturdy?
Can you provide a part number for the light duty mount? I cannot find it on rye ram mount website. Also my ram Arm transducer mount seems to be missing parts to connect transducer. Any help will be appreciated.
The link and # are in the description, but they have been very hard to find lately...guess production has not kept up with demand very well. Not sure on the transducer mount since I don't have one. What part seems to be missing?
The garmin transducer has 2 eyelets that are approx 1 inch apart and the mount is not that wide so it seems I am missing a spacer or something so that transducer will stay study. Thanks for your help much appreciated
The transducer should be sturdy enough to stay level on its own, but they will have a bit of play...that way if they hit a object (impact) they can flip up to avoid damage.
Do you have any split screen options to choose from on the main menu? If so, go into the settings on that screen and you can choose vertical or horz split.
dear sir. thank you so much for this video. i've gone to rammount website and i've selected 2 part numbers to go with my garmin striker 4. however i think im still short of 1 part that is needed to fix to the base of the garmin round support structure before fixing to the socket arm. can you help me? the 2 parts that i have got from the website is RAM-B-201U (double socket arm) and RAP-B-354U-TRA1 (track ball). many thanks for your help.
Look at the links in the video description for the parts you need...RAM-B-201U (double socket arm) is just a arm, not the rest of the support structure for the fish finder, so it will not work without addition stuff.
I am also missing one part of this set up, that being the adaptor which connects the Garman fish finder to one end of the double socket arm. Without this adaptor plate the socket arm contains a round plate on each end with the ball. Please help me identify this adaptor plate. Thanks Bill Jonkey
Did you look at the smaller Nocqua battery or just the 10 Amp?....there are cheaper options out there though...just a bit more work on the front end and a tad bit less flexibility.
I bought the regular, but wish I would have bought at least the plus. The mapping feature is a great addition if you fish any lakes or rivers. I mostly only fished small creeks and rivers that did not have a lot of depth or depth change, so I went with the regular...now I fish a few small lakes as well and wish I had a Plus.
If you have a Nocqua Pro Power Kit battery pack, then it comes with the install kit with a single connector to plug into. If you want to run more things from the battery, you can add a Y connector later if you like...no new splicing needed.
@@1Cast1Fish mine is now on backorder for another 2 weeks. insane lol, i swear these batteries are so popular. i had to buy a cabalas 12v DC for the meantime for this weekend. thank god the garmin has an inline fuse so i don't have to fiddle with it.
I am doing well...I am surprised I have never flipped mine...but it is pretty stable. Its always fun to be on the water regardless though fishing rod or not.
I bought a Striker 4 bundle after viewing this video. However, it does not come with the piece that connecting the fish finder screen unit and the 1" Ram Light Duty Mount as shown in the listed mounting accessories. I am not sure where to buy it
Yeah that is likely the issue, I have never owned a bundle package so was unsure the exact difference. However I do know the fish finder is exactly the same....which means you may be able to call Garmin and just order the mounting bracket for the unit and then it would be just like a unbundled one possibly.
@@1Cast1Fish I called Garmin, but the guy doesn't know where to get the bracket. It seems he might not be very knowledgeable. May I ask where you got that mounting bracket? Is it in the striker 4 package?
Maybe this is what you are looking for? www.amazon.com/Garmin-Swivel-Mount-Striker-010-12439-10/dp/B07C3TBGTM/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=garmin+striker+4+bracket&qid=1638108618&sr=8-1
Great vid! I just got a 4cv, and trying to decide between the 4.4ah or the 10 Nocqua. I see the 4cv power draw is 400mah. Should I assume this will run the fish finder for over 10 hours on the 4.4 Nocqua (plenty for me)? Any reason to get the 10 instead? Would love to get your thoughts.
The 4 works great for most everyone and day trips....I like the 10 for a few reasons. I power the fish finder and my cameras from the battery....plus I use it on hunting trips to charge things and such....so I get alot of "other" uses from it as well so the extra power is useful for me.
I use the base Striker 4, but I mostly fish small lakes and rivers with my kayak. I do plan on getting one of the new Vivid 4CV's this summer though hopefully. What type of fishing do you primarily do? Another option is to look for the non Vivid model CV's since they are on sale most places to make room for the new Vivid's.
@@1Cast1Fish I fish lakes here in North Texas. Yeah I saw the sticker 4 plus cv on sale at 149.88 but out of stock in local Bass Pro. Thinking the base model may be enough for me now, at 99.99, and I use the extra cash for the Ram mounts and Nucqoa battery you suggested.
@@1Cast1Fish I’m having issue mounting it. I bought the duct seal but it does not read. When I take it out of my yak and put it in the water. It works fine.
Check your mounting area, is the hull real thick there...also duct seal thickness, and ensure no bubbles are air gaps in anything. Never seen a issue on the Ascends
Garmin Striker Plus 4 is my first fish finder with contour maps and i have one specific problem. When i turn my boat there is 2-3 second delay for all movement my boat does on my striker screen. This is extremely annoying to drive around lake, because im used to drive around Garming hand-held navigator which updates my boat movements on the navigator screen extremely fast. With navigator i was able to drive lines with extreme accuracy and also make fast turns without getting confused which way im going, even drive lake just by looking my navigator (just memorize where they keep fishing nets). Is there any Striker settings that could solve my problem??? Or is there some setting that is causing the problem???
@@1Cast1Fish I found youtube video where guy was driving with striker 4 and u can clearly see that when he makes the turn and boat is alrdy going straight in reality, in striker screen boat is still turning. So there is default 2sec (at least) delay on screen and there propably isnt any solution to this :( also 100% brightness on sunny day isnt just enough. I would say this fish finder is good for kayaking, its avarage for electric motors (cus they cant go very fast anyways, as myself). But boats with real engines i wouldnt recommend, u rlly want fish finder with no delay. Just my honest opinion.
You are right about wanting a very accurate GPS track when traveling at speed...especially if its dark. I use Humminbirds on my big boat, but think I will drag this along just to see if the GPS lags at all going 50+ mph. Cool you brought this up, because I honestly don't have any experience with it since I use mine on the kayaks.
I love how straight to the point this was. It's basically "Here's how/why I did it." Boom. That's it. Love it.

It will work...for a canoe I would look at the over the side mounting arms....or try the duct seal method and see if it will work.
Very nice video
Thank you :)
Is there an adapter? I wasn’t able to connect my garmin to my battery do you have to splice it?
What type of battery are you using?
@@1Cast1Fish I’m using the same battery as you the noaqua pro power kit
Check this out, should help hopefully

Great video
Thank you
I just got a echomap 73sv and this type of mount looks sturdier than the yak attack lock and load system. I really like that lock and load but it looks very wobbly. Is yours pretty sturdy?
I think so...It wobbles a bit but nothing that would be worrying. It is pretty stable IMO
Good video my brother
Appreciate it...thank you
Do you have a link for the track the ball fits into
I do not, but any standard kayak gear track should work for you
Can you provide a part number for the light duty mount? I cannot find it on rye ram mount website. Also my ram Arm transducer mount seems to be missing parts to connect transducer. Any help will be appreciated.
The link and # are in the description, but they have been very hard to find lately...guess production has not kept up with demand very well. Not sure on the transducer mount since I don't have one. What part seems to be missing?
The garmin transducer has 2 eyelets that are approx 1 inch apart and the mount is not that wide so it seems I am missing a spacer or something so that transducer will stay study. Thanks for your help much appreciated
The transducer should be sturdy enough to stay level on its own, but they will have a bit of play...that way if they hit a object (impact) they can flip up to avoid damage.
great thank you , very clear
Glad it helped!
Will I be able to use that set up on the NuCanoe Dashboard XL? I just purchased a Gramin Striker 4.
If it has the mounting tracks, then YES
Does that ram mount also work for the striker 4 CV?
Yes, I use mine for both the base Striker 4 and my Vivid
That looks like a nice battery you have how do you charge it and is possible to hook it up to a solar panel to keep it charged?
To charge it, you just plug it into a normal wall outlet. Check out their website for solar chargers...they have a Goal Zero Solar setup you can buy.
How do I get the horizontal split screen display like the pic on the box? I don't see that option from home manu.
Sweet 😊
Thanks!
Do you have a product number for the light duty mount? I'm having a hard time finding it
Link is in the description
I need to find a cheaper solution for the power. I can’t justify the cost of yours. Love the rest of it though 👍
Did you look at the smaller Nocqua battery or just the 10 Amp?....there are cheaper options out there though...just a bit more work on the front end and a tad bit less flexibility.
Do you use the Garmin striker plus or just the regular Garmin striker 4
I bought the regular, but wish I would have bought at least the plus. The mapping feature is a great addition if you fish any lakes or rivers. I mostly only fished small creeks and rivers that did not have a lot of depth or depth change, so I went with the regular...now I fish a few small lakes as well and wish I had a Plus.
Do you need the Y connector? I have mine coming in for my striker 4 and I was just thinking I could possibly splice the wires.
Dang 2 weeks, guess it could be worse, but fishing is starting to heat up now... so glad you will have it soon. Where did you order from?
1Cast 1Fish THE GPS STORE, that was the only place that had it to buy . Amazon didn’t have it at all.
1Cast 1Fish The one In North Carolina. I talk to a store employee and that what they told me . Ohh well
Hey you. How the heck are you. I love to see your channel is doing so well. I would be afraid that my kayak would flip if I fished from it.
I am doing well...I am surprised I have never flipped mine...but it is pretty stable. Its always fun to be on the water regardless though fishing rod or not.
How long does the Garmin last on a 10ah vs a 4ah battery?
About double
I bought a Striker 4 bundle after viewing this video. However, it does not come with the piece that connecting the fish finder screen unit and the 1" Ram Light Duty Mount as shown in the listed mounting accessories. I am not sure where to buy it
Are you referring to the rotating plastic portion that the fish finder mounts too?
@@1Cast1Fish Yes. I also noticed that the Striker 4 bundle unit is different at the bottom; it does not have the plastic circle at the bottom.

I know I’m late but I just got a kayak that doesn’t have a place for my mount to go on, any ideas?
You can buy and add rails to any kayak, they come in many sizes and colors as well
@@1Cast1Fish thanks I’ll try it!
The link for the ram mount isn’t the right product. Can you give an item number for the exact ram mount arm that is shown in the video?? Thank you
Just checked it, and it links to the right one? The 1" light duty mount... what issue do you see?
Can you supply a part number
@@1Cast1Fish Gotcha. Wouldn't hurt to future-proof a bit with a bigger battery, ended up going with the 10. Thanks again for the reply.
No problem...plus the 10 really is not all that much bigger
Can you get temperature readings hull mounted with duct putty?
No you can not
Would like to know the ram mount product info, model number?
Should be linked in the decription
nice set up man! what stryker 4 model do you have? im still choosing between price and what I really need. Any thoughts?
The battery is a great investment...I have had mine since 2017 and still holds a charge like a champ without issue.
@@1Cast1Fish yes sir, went ahead with the purchase and arriving next week! 👍👍👍
@@bobbyclaros1978 I am sure you will love it
I can't find that mounting bracket anywhere...the only one I find is the adjustable swivleing "clip mont" bracket...which I don't totally trust....
Link in the description to the one I use...It's held up great over the years
So the transducer just sit in the kayak without any interference? You put that cat thing in there and it works without issues huh?
Correct, with the proper mounting it works just fine in the hull. Not sure I understand what you mean by cat thing though?
@@1Cast1Fish I’m having issue mounting it. I bought the duct seal but it does not read. When I take it out of my yak and put it in the water. It works fine.
What model kayak? Is the duct seal to thick maybe?
@@1Cast1Fish 2021 ascend 12T
Check your mounting area, is the hull real thick there...also duct seal thickness, and ensure no bubbles are air gaps in anything. Never seen a issue on the Ascends
How do you charge the battery? Thank you
The Nocqua comes with a plug in charger
@@1Cast1Fish Awesome thank you I’m buying the striker 4 tomorrow
Awesome, hope you love it
@@1Cast1Fish just picked it up although can’t find battery gotta get that online. How long does it last if just charging fish finder?
I have used it a few days without issue on the 10ah battery.
Can you please send a link to the ram mount accessories for my striker 4?
I found it. The ram ball mount is out of stock. Will the yak attack 1” work?
Yeah they go quick once in stock, but yes the Yak Attack 1" will work just as good.
My GPS is fairly accurate on timing, but I am in a kayak….how fast are you going by chance?
@@1Cast1Fish 1,85 - 2,5 mph
Should keep up pretty well at those speeds...does it have good GPS signal? You can also try a factory reset to rest the unit.
Did he go with the 4.4 amp or 10 battery?? Anyone know . Does it matter which
I like the 10
@@1Cast1Fish thanks
How long can you run a Garmin Striker 4cv on 4.4ah nocqua bttery?
I would guess about 10-15 hours continuous
