Nice video, just picked up a striker 4 for my tarpon 120. Mounting it this weekend. Just a word of advice, holding bass at an angle like that usually breaks their jaw. I know you were keeping most of the ones you caught in this lake but viewers seeing this might get improper handling techniques for their own fishing. If these fish are held at an angle by their mouth and released, there’s a very high mortality rate due to injury, especially for bigger fish. Just putting that out there 👍
Action Jackson. Nice mount. I think the readings from the surface are just normal particles that tend to accumulate there. I think there is a sensitivity setting to clear that up if desired
I just bought the same striker and the same lifetime kayak... I wanted to do the in hull mount till I saw this video and you mentioned the in hull mount didnt work for you, can you tell me why please? Also how many amp hour battery did you get and how much use do you get before charging.?
I'm not an expert on these, but I wonder if the transducer is not low enough in the water causing it to deflect off the side of the kayak creating that yellow in the first foot. Maybe test out lowering it next time to see if it goes away.
How hard is it to reach the Garmin from the seat of your Yukon Angler? I’m going to install a Striker plus 4 in my Yukon Angler kayak this winter. I like the location you used but I’m not very agile so I’m not sure I could reach it easily. Great video!
I have one of these on my Teton Angler, and I’m a big fan. Simple to use, but very effective! Also, nice setup with that detachable transducer mount 👍🏼
Can you reach your fish finder pretty easily? I have the same yak and planning on getting a fish finder. Debating whether I should mount it on the rails or up front, where you mounted it.
Ha, when I found this Garmin Striker mounting I didn't even know you had a Yukon at first. Then it started looking familiar. I love the placement. Looking at the same on my Yukon. How do you like the placement of the finder after having used it for a bit now?
I definitely like it where it is. I think it’s better than having it on one of the sides because it doesn’t get in the way of paddling where I have it.
Great video, I noticed you're fishing in front of your kayak. Fo you have your transducer point in the same position to the front? Thanks for sharing your video.
@@AaronsOutdoor1 I see the transducer is on the side of your kayak, correct? So it's pointing down at an angle? Are you able to see what's in front of you on your fish finder? Is that telling you to cast in front of your area? The reason I ask is because I'm stuck between mounting the transducer on the transom or my trolling motor. Any idea would be appreciated. 👍
@@smcgee2010 no, the transducer is not inside the hull of the kayak. It’s on the bottom of that PVC transducer arm that I made. The box with the battery is the only thing inside the kayak.
@@AaronsOutdoor1 So, the transducer is facing down into the water at an angle. This in turn allows you to fish in front of you while reeling back to your kayak. I really appreciate your assistance and responses, I'm trying to figure out where to place my transducer on my vessel. I have a small 12ft Alumacraft, if I install it in the back I imagine I'd be fishing behind me since everything showing up to the left of the fish finder screen has already passed me.
@@smcgee2010 my transducer is not at an angle, it is facing directly downward. I use it more to just get a sense of how deep it is, but it also lets me know if there’s a school of fish under me that I can drop my bait on. Typically I’m casting up against the bank when I’m fishing. For an alumacraft, most people put the transducers on the back of the boat (either to the left or right of the motor) and have it facing straight downwards. I hope this info is helpful.
what started as a Garmin Striker4 tutorial turned into a bass fishing video - not disappointed.

Cool ... never heard the "add water" thing, but makes sense. Thanks.
Painting the pvc black is also a good idea because it will protect from UV light which makes it get very brittle.

Very informative thanks and tight lines 👍
I’ve been trying to find one for my kayak. The Teton angler. Thanks for showing off your new one. It will rlly help me find one!!!
No problem!
Definitely going to look into getting one of those for my inflatable boat. Thanks for the video.
Yeah no problem, so far it seems pretty good
Nice I’m gonna try this, I have the same kayak as you.
That comes with the transducer ?
Yes
I'm not an expert on these, but I wonder if the transducer is not low enough in the water causing it to deflect off the side of the kayak creating that yellow in the first foot. Maybe test out lowering it next time to see if it goes away.
That’s a good thought! I’ll have to try that out, thanks!
Outstanding !!!! Thank you 👍

Thinking the same thing
My first time bought it still can’t use it yet not summer here yet do you use fish alarm? And do you think fish alarm works?
Any links to how you made your transducer arm? Looks good!
Its just PVC with a 90 degree elbow on it to connect them. He used a tent stake in the middle to keep it from swaying with movement.

Yeah, it definitely seems very user friendly. Thanks!
I would catch small ones like that all day long.
Just curious, were you keeping the bass to eat?
No

I can reach it pretty easily, you just gotta lean forward a little. Thanks for watching!

@@AaronsOutdoor1 does it feel too far forward? Seems like it would be impossible to interact with when it's so far away...
brother that tent stake could have been put throgh
the rod holder.
Hey man, can you link what you were fishing with? I’ve never caught a bass before, and I’d love to try to catch them out of my kayak!
Man if you’ve never caught a bass before, throw a ned rig, jig, spinnerbait? Pretty easy catching bass. They’re predators they’ll hit a lot of baits..
@@Gssmallenginerepair I need to know what this Ned Rig is!
@@ajayfay google it. It’s great
I have one and I love it. Garmin makes good products.
That’s good to hear! It sounds like I made the right decision
Wonderful video. Thank you. 😊

Got that on my fishing kayak! Have you looked at the Scotty transducer/fishfinder mount? Great video
Nice! I haven’t looked at the Scotty, but I think I probably saved some money doing it this way. Thanks for watching!
@@AaronsOutdoor1 not sure if your kayak has any scotty tracks for accessories but the transducer mount will also hold a rod holder. Check it out
Alright, I’ll go look it up right now
Does the screen stay pretty dry while paddling ?
I think it does for the most part
Might be the surface clutter setting
Great review I enjoyed it
Thanks!

Bruh keep the vids coming. I just keep watchin ur subs go up. 💯 quick ? Where do u live i live in the mountains of north carolina
Thanks man! I live in Georgia
Shouldn't have that battery laying on its side like that.
Don't ever keep them that small that's just not right.
This lake had an overpopulation of fish, and if you want the bass to get bigger, you have to take out the small ones
Let them get bigger
