Definitely a game changer Pete. I put the Sargent low on being vertically challenged, can almost flat foot now. Plus me piles love me again. 🙂👍
Ha Ha, Yeah it's all about happy piles. I nearly went the low option as well. Regards FPPete.
Hi is the low comfortable?
Belated happy birthday Pete, sheepskin seat toppers are kinda ok as long as it not raining, not fun sitting on a soaking wet sheepskin, keep the videos coming, Mike UK Honda CB500X
Thanks Mike, the sheep skin would not be much fun if wet, for sure. Hope the CB500X is serving you well mate. A great bike.
Hello Pete you legend! Thanks for the review of the Sergeant Seat; I agree that having a comfortable seat on a long haul ride is bloody critical; Over the years I have used an Upholsterer to modify the stock seat as the price of a non standard seat was just too expensive for me; The cost of using an Upholsterer was about $200 which is quite reasonable for the comfort I get; David...Adelaide...Tiger 900GT & Street Scrambler....
Great stuff David, yes I'm sure there are plenty of upholsterer's out there that can do amazing work for us Motorcyclists. Always enjoy your comments mate.
Top review Pete 👍
Looks like a must have luxury
Thanks for that, It's sure is a huge improvement.
Thank you. You helped me figure out why the new seat was hitting my rear rack. Need to improve the tongue fit.
Glad you got something out of the vid. Regards FPPete.
Great vid and Happy birthday Pete 🎉🎂👍
Thanks JH. We were at Lake Albacutya last birthday.
@@FULLPELTAdventures yeah I remember awesome weekend that was 👍
Okay, I bought a Sargent low for my DR and have ridden 2 years with it. It was a little hard but way better than the stock one. A couple weeks ago I started thinking that the regular must be better because it has more padding. I first sat on it after I put it on, very cushy and nice and thought, perfect! My butt was on fire after 20 miles. I ended up doing 95 miles yesterday and it was pure torture. Do they break in or am I screwed?
Seat's really are a personal thing. Softer seat is not necessarily more comfortable. If riding long distance, it won't matter what seat you have you will get a sore butt. The trick is to periodically Stand up on the pegs, move forward or back on the seat, Stretch your legs, lean forward, do any thing you can to relieve the pressure points on your butt. Think about your posture, even take a 5 min rest stop every hour. These are things I do when doing big miles. Regards FPPete.
Thank you for your video. Do you still find it as comfortable after 2 years of experience?
Glad you enjoyed the video. I absolutely love the Sargent seat, Highly recommend it. The seat is still as good as new, and I have 15000km on it. Best mod I have done to the DR650. Sure makes long distance riding easy. Regards FPPete.
I have a Sargent on mine. If you only do one mod to that bike, a better seat would be it. Went from sore ass to riding all day with no issues.
Totally agree. Best thing I did for the Pig. After the seat, a slip on muffler. Happy days. Regards FPPete.
Good stuff Pete mate, no more dancing cheek to cheek haha. The seat I have is based on the Sargent custom built by a guy in the sunny coast. It uses the original base so no issues fitting. I do like the look of the stock seat but my arse says otherwise lol. ATB Jason 👍
Thanks Jason. I'm hearing you buddy, our arses speak the same language. LOL.
Gday Pete, not so much related to the seat, but would you recommend the dr650 as a solid first bike, I'm 6' 5' so I was hoping for something with some decent size.
Cheers 👍🏻
At 6'5" you can take your pick of any bike. The DRZ400 is tall and a very capable bike. My advice is think about the type of riding you want to do, Road, Off-road, Dirt roads, single track, Adventure touring, this will help you narrow your selection down. Budget also dictates your choice, Your skill level, Your age, fitness, all can come into play. The most important thing is try and test ride as many different bikes you can, this will help you immensely. The DR650 is a great first bike, you may need to alter the ergonomics, Lower foot pegs, Bar risers, and higher bend handle bars to get it to suit your height. Hope this helps, Regards FPPete.
@@FULLPELTAdventures Couldn't have asked for a more helpful reply, thanks mate.
@@joshuamaher528 good luck, and always happy to help.
Great stuff Pete... Welcome to the club 🤣
Thanks mate, So happy to be a new member in the club. Hopefully get a few more recruits. As you say "Game Changer"
Hi Pete,
Took delivery of a brand new DR650 last Friday. When I picked it up I also ordered a Sargent Seat. Great minds think alike. What bars and mirror set up are you running. Keep up the good content and Happy Birthday 🥳
hi Jason, Thanks mate. I am still running the stock bars, but do plan upgrading at some stage. Pro Taper Windham with pro taper pillow top grips. No bar risers. I have the "Double Take Adventure mirrors". Happy to answer any questions.
Bought my DR650 on a Friday. Rode it Saturday and Sunday. Ordered the Sargent low on Monday. The stock seat is for the BDSM crowd.
Ha Ha, You will love the DR even more, with the new seat. Game Changer.
Mate it’s a awesome seat. Done some mod’s before I went to cape york a Sargent seat, 30/36 lt 600k’s range safari tank, teknik front & rear shock’s, & JNS dot headlight all highly recommended. Keep it up rite Pete 👍
Your a better rider then mark 😂
Thanks for your comment John. Yes Lighting and suspension are areas I will look in to at some stage, thanks heaps for the info.
Have a mate with a dr650 stock seat and he's clocked up 50k on the stock seat , he says his stock seat is fine , even on long trips we do. I couldn't even make it to the end of the drive on my seat, without pain, I agree , seat mod is a must! Happy birthday fella🥳🎉🍺.
Thanks Peter, and I thought I had a concrete arse. Your mate is legendary. LOL.
Happy Birthday Pete! Kinga from On Her Bike is going to be riding a Norden 901around your general area of Australia.
Thanks for the Birthday Wishes mate. And Hopefully a test on the 901 in the future.
I’ve done 3800 ks on my dr now and I getting a little sick of the stock butt-stinger!
Ha ha, your bum is calling for a Sargent.
yes $450 US is expensive. But like you say. Transforms the PIG
Thanks KNK, Nice comfy PIG. Happy Bum Cheeks. All is good with the Monkey Butt.
@@FULLPELTAdventures has anyone got on an Aprilia Tuareg 660 yet ? That would be a fun test bike.
A Sargent seat was the first mod for my Drz, the stock seat isn't much chop
Thanks for that fish, good to know the Sargent is a winner on the DRZ as well. Regards FPPete.
Happy birthday young man ! Solid review mate . Cheers 👍
