    Dude, Not to be ungrateful for sharing all the things you added and all the changes you made to the bike, but when somebody says "20,000 km review", you expect something about how the bike rides, strong points, weak points, etc. We didn't get a word of that, lol!

    • @FULLPELTAdventures
      @FULLPELTAdventures  Год назад +1

      Hi THT, The no lube on the chain is a Chappy thing. The O-ring, X-ring chains don't need lube in our opinion. The chain and sprockets stay clean, and there is no increased wear from my experience. Save your money on chain lube that just seems to attract dirt. RUclips channel Fortnine did a great video on chain lube ruclips.net/video/VnPYdcbcAe0/видео.html
      Give it a try. Regards Pete.

    Hi Pete. I changed my DR to the factory lowered setting (40 mm as per the manual) and had the suspension reworked by MPE up the Sunshine Coast. Works great for me. Sacrificed a small amount of ground clearance overall but it’s never been a problem even in really crappy places.

    You describe a top upgraded DR that you,ve clearly spent lot,s of time and money on. You suggest in your narrative that you also run a T7.........
    For the average punter wondering how and why???, please explain.
    These bikes are considered direct competitors and the DR with the described upgrades probably is a better bet than the T7. ????

    • @FULLPELTAdventures
      @FULLPELTAdventures  Год назад

      Hi Katherine, I have been asked this question a few times, and hopefully do a video on my thoughts of the T7 vs the DR650. They may have similar capacity on paper but they are poles apart in most area's. The T7 is a modern twin cylinder, 210kg adventure Bike, The DR is 30 year old technology, it's a simple Dual Sport bike that weighs about 170kg. Two very different bikes that I really enjoy riding. Between them I have done 52,000km so far. Regards Pete.

    🇦🇺😎👍Hey mate the first DR 2016 did 115000kms ( never used oil )( no noticeable drop in power ) and the timing chain needed replacing. Unfortunately while working on the bike the mechanic destroyed the engine. DR two 2019 65000 kms and needed a new head gasket. The next mechanic changed the jetting and cooked that engine. Mechanic number 3 .Full top end rebuild now and doing well ( Marty’s Moto Ipswich QLD ).. love the tank bag…I brought a new stainless header pipe the other day but that will be installed on the 2016 engine as it is being rebuilt as a hp engine…love the racks..you need pivot pegs…love your battery charge up connection….I lube my chain regularly and never clean it and I get about 33/34000 kms , road riding only..I got a small tinted visor from NSW and that’s an absolute must..at least rebuild the front forks , you won’t believe the difference …great video , now you’ve made me want to go for another ride😉👍

      Yeah I have been asked that a few times. There are big differences between the 2 bikes. About 50kg in weight and 30HP. The DR650 is a single Thumper, old school technology verses the T700, Twin Cylinder and the latest tech. I purchased the T700 first and I started to ride more and more offroad, and found the T700 too big and heavy for my skill level. The DR650 just suited me more for the offroading. Thanks Josh, The DRZ400E is a fantastic dirt bike. The Honda CRF300 is also a great choice. An entry level Adventure Bike the new Himalayan 450 is worth a look. Test ride as many as you can, this helps with making the right choice for you. Good Luck. Regards FPPete.

    • @JoshSinnott97
      @JoshSinnott97 5 месяцев назад

      @@FULLPELTAdventures I appreciate the reply mate, thank you
      I'm about a couple of months away from getting my RE license so when I'm able to I'll be test riding as many as possible. I'm keen to see what owners put the Himalayan through but I think I'm leaning more towards the dual sport category just so that I can feel confident hitting the rougher stuff if ever I come across it.
      I've sat on both the drz and the crf300 rally. there was also a used drz at the dealership which had a 2 inch lowering kit on it, with that kit both the drz and the rally where the same height for me (on the balls of my feet). I was on my toes with the standard drz lol. not sure how much that would change with a larger fuel tank and some soft luggage strapped onto it if the suspension is prone to sagging in those conditions?
      My heart says the drz is the way to go but some people complain about carbys and no 6th gear so I wasn't sure if its a smart purchase in 2024, mainly for a first bike and only means of transport. I will say though, the crf build quality was quiet disappointing. It looked like very cheap plastic and I would hate to think of how that would cope with being dropped a few times

    • @FULLPELTAdventures
      @FULLPELTAdventures  5 месяцев назад

      @@JoshSinnott97 I love the DRZ, buying new is piece of mind that nothing has been tampered with, carby, airbox etc. The CRF300 is a better commuter bike if using the bike as your only transport. You can get crash bars for the Honda that will look after the plastics. Regards FPPete.

    Very Nice. I would like to offer a few tips should you be so inclined. I would never ever use slime! Research and you will see what I mean. Ride-On is much better. I AM NOT affiliated. Also a small tire pump is all that is needed for those low pressure tires. The portable type like they carry on a bicycle. You do have to pump it many times since they are low volume. But you do not need to worry about power or if and when it will quit. Try it at home first. Also make sure you can replace a tube when far from help. Again do this at home. Cheers Mate and Gday!

    I made my own silencer from stainless 100mm thin wall tube. Made the silencer internal with perforated tube and exhaust packing from the MX store. Main jet increased in size and needle jet is a replacement with stronger taper raised up as they run weak on the standard needle set up. It now responds much sharper from low revs. Power has increased dramatically. I also replaced the seat and run the same 20 litre tank. Renthal handle bars with lifts. One thing I did that made it great to ride was replace the standard screen with a taller one. Gives much better wind protection at speed. Mine is a 2014 model. A few times I have tried to buy fuel and they refuse to turn on the pump until I remove my helmet. 7-11 are the main problem in my area.
