I remember this from a CHiPs episode where they investigated a large multi fatality crash and discovered it was caused when a trucker was blinded by a large mirror the sun reflected off of.

How long, on average, does an investigation like this usually take?
Depending on the severity and complexity it can be some months before a report is finalized.
