- The Cadets of CTC 1-22 are now in their final weeks of training, and their aspirations of becoming Officers of the California Highway Patrol are within their sights. Anticipation sets in as they learn the Area offices where they will report for duty, however, the training intensifies and the stakes reach an all-time high. With classroom exams, range, and EVOC still to be graded, one misstep could send them home.

I failed "Investigation For Grade" week 18 of 21, and was asked to leave. I took an Accident Investigation Class through an allied agency and re-applied to the CHP. Graduated 9th in my class and received the "Most Outstanding Cadet Award" the following year. So Miss Lopez, take a driving class and correct your deficiency and get back in there!! R#CTC-I-89

Don’t ever give up Lopez! I’m home on medical from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy, and much like you, I’m highly motivated to get back and become a Pennsylvania State Trooper. It’ll take a lot to break me from becoming what I want. You can do it with the CHP and so can I with the PSP!
Hope you made it back to the Academy Lopez. My Academy roommate was a "retread" (and the oldest cadet in our class) and we both retired as lieutenants. I've heard of cadets going back four or more times. It is worth it in the long run.
Cadet Lopez, continue with your drive, focus, and persistence and you will achieve your goal. Honestly evaluate your strengths and weaknesses and how to overcome them. Best of luck to you and I believe in you! As for the rest of you guys, I’m rooting for you and I look forward to seeing you all get your badges. You’re almost there!

Hopefully the CHP will find a non-uniformed position for Cadet Lopez while she decides whether or not to give it another try at the CHP academy. Doing the cameo after the disappointment of EVOC had to be tough but it shows your character Lopez.
I just had a conversation with CHP Recruitment about that issue - especially for pre-Academy service since the backgrounds are taking so long. They are "considering" it. With AB 89 (the college degree requirement) going into effect next year recruitment for all agencies is forecasted to come to a standstill. Hoping CHP is as prepared as they believe they are.

If you're still overweight at 20 weeks then you're not exercising hard enough! 20 weeks was the end of our class and I dropped about 20 lbs in that time, and I wasn't that heavy to begin with!
I actually gained 15 pounds at the Academy. I was a skinny 20 year old living on my own so going from a single man's diet to three squares a day with all of that workout put some muscle on me.
Breakfast? How do you have so much free time?
