Tgat is absolutely spectacular stunningly BEAUTIFUL Gav. I am amazed its spectacular!! I muat admit at first i thought negatively about this truck. But now seeinf it built and running has swayed me. And wouldn't you know it, the lical hobby shop i frequent has sold out after everybody seems to be praising it. Again similar to you , i was dubious about a gear train transferring drive to front and rear. But it seems to work really good. Im now a convert Gav thanks mate. Im in Australia.
This is excellent painting work. I haven't painted an RC body in nearly 30 years but I remember the masking tape and the smell of Tamiya's PS paint sprays all too well.
So an extended GF01 with extra gears like the G601. Same steering, suspension arms & friction shocks. Even the bumpers looked the same. So it has the GF01 wheelie bar in there, too, i assume. Which means you should be able to add wider arms & shaftes from the WR01/WT01 to widen it. Fit mini cva dampers or better still add the GPM Wild Dagger shock tower conversion to fit full length GPM dampers, which gives it loads of articulation.
Great job, I knew you were a master when you started he window masking good choice of colors when I did mine I did the box art love the green fun kit!!!!!
I wonder what the Tamiya engineers were thinking when designing this chassis. "Instead of making a chassis, let's just make 80% of the car a gearbox and attach everything to that"
Awesome job! I love how these kits allow you to do whatever window style you like. Something super cool about seeing the internals from the outside. No way I'd take that thing to a skate park after all that work though!
Great job on the body, Gav! You can never beat a bit of PS-16 Subaru blue! This truck is growing on me, damn my want list has just grown bigger! All the best mate! 😎👌👍
Thanks for another great video Gavin. Found your channel whilst looking into a build and got some good tips and thoughts before I built my Unimog CC-02 a few months ago. Currently planning a Rock Socker and then either Super Clod or Suburu TT-02, and here you go throwing new options around! I like the way you show your builds warts and all and do not hide the mistakes. On this I like the colours you went with, think its a better option than box art in this case. Be interested to know if that style of 4WD is tougher and harder wearing in the long run.
Right that’s it I’m going to have to get one of these next year looks amazing and since I haven’t got a monster truck I feel justified!! Thanks for the video best wishes
Thank you for this video. Wonderful paint work and good practical information! Seems to be a very easy to drive car. Considering the high centre of gravity it seems extremely smooth on the flat, like a F1 or Touring Car. You really do notice the difference between this and that horrible Trasped kit you binned the other week, especially with the speed, acceleration and handling, even when you are just cruising with the Tamiya. It shows that you get what you pay for! 🙂 I wouldn't have given that Trasped as an Xmas gift to my relative's boy!
I'm looking for a 4ws chassis for my cybertruck project. I would have to cut it half and extend it, but my main question is, does this come 4ws out of box, or you need to buy extra parts to make it 4ws?
Question for you Gav. Why does my paint come away from the body leaving it perfectly clear? I washed it and did pretty much the same as you do but it got bashed at the track and a huge part of the paint came away. Is it something I did wrong or just bad luck?
Are you using Tamiya PS paints or a paint designed for Polycarbonate bodies and not a normal car spray paint? If that's the case you can GENTLY rub a wet green kitchen pad on the inside of the polycarbonate body. Obviously don't do the windows, lights or anything that will stay clear. You only want a light key, if you go too hard, the scratches will start to show in the paintwork. A little key will help the paint bond with the body and stop the peeling issue. Also do light coats at first and give each coat a good 15 mins to dry before adding the next coat.
@@RCKickschannel I only use Tamiya paints and i usually allow an hour between each coat. It may be the coats are too heavy. Will try the kitchen pad and see hoe that goes. It was just one patch but it came off clean. Thanks for the tip.
I'm still a bit meh on this one myself. Had they supplied the bearings in the kit I would probably be more enthusiastic about it. I do like the blue though. I did the wheels on my Lunch Box that colour as I think the stock yellow is yuck! 😁
Completely different animals. The Mad Wagon is more of a basher stunt truck than the Squash Van. The squash Van is more classic vintage Tamiya (Monster Beatle vibe)
3:35 I wish I knew this tip thirty years ago!

Cute truck :) Very good paint & sticker tutorial .. thanks!
Excellent build that.. love the gearbox... The bodywork was perfect. Something about PS-16 that makes me drool though.. gorgeous colour.
Nice color blue looked great outside. I'm not sure how I will paint mine. Thanks for the video.
This is excellent painting work. I haven't painted an RC body in nearly 30 years but I remember the masking tape and the smell of Tamiya's PS paint sprays all too well.
A fine bit of precision masking there. One slip with thon scalpel and you'd have ended up with a Squash pickup. 😂
Turned out lovely in the end. 👍
Looks sick man. I love the flat clear tip 👍
Great build. Love the blue
It is a very nice looking truck, and that blue seriously suits it!!
Great job on the body! You showed a lot of patience and skill. Much better job than I could have done.
Lovely body work

Good call, but at the same time, I’ve heard that these all gear chassis are tough as nails
@IowaBudgetRCBashers If that's the case than this was a smart decision for a monster truck chassis
It’s just like the G6-01. That one is as tough as can be and almost unstoppable on all terrain. Tamiya engineers designed an amazing chassis.
that was a nice save!
Looks great Gavin! Great colour too!
Thank you! Cheers!

Excelent paint job. I will buy one soon. Love your videos
Love the vid Gav and the colour way is top ❤
Great job! How about a DB01 build next?
Great job on the body, Gav! You can never beat a bit of PS-16 Subaru blue! This truck is growing on me, damn my want list has just grown bigger! All the best mate! 😎👌👍
Thanks Mark. Well worth a look if you get the chance

Nice work with the body and great run 👌 nice to have 100(?) cans of paint at home 😂 yea I'm jealous 😂
Thats about six weeks worth LOL. I need to order in a few more for the upcoming releases.
Love this truck liking the darker blue and cool run video matey!
Glad you enjoyed it
Badass looking rig!
Bootifull!!
That avante blue and white colour combo looks great. Better I think than the cobalt blue box art.
It s an very funny Tamiya RC,the Transmission ist curius but it Looks really great,Nice greetings from germany
That looks phenomenal. Absolutely love it Gav
Glad you like it
Looks good
Im like you gave, its growing on me. And i dont even have one 😁 its defo got that retro look and feel 👍
It's a great one for the garden or park for sure. I hope we see the body set released by Tamiya.
@@RCKickschannel i can see a few of them flying off the shelves if they do, and appearing on all sorts of chassis 😁
Would adjusting the steering mix make it more stable with rear wheel steer?
This body is screaming out for a Gravedigger paint job! If you do another one I’d love to see you have a go - complete with red-lit headlights 😎
Thats a good idea, I like it! I wonder if you can get 1/10th decals from another RC
@@RCKickschannelteam cpe has the decal sheet
This is a fun release, really stands out from all the buggies.
Can we have a video of all the times you spin the box and it ends up on the floor behind the counter...
That would be possible 🤣
fantastic result, though I think I like the box color a bit more
Fair enough!
Get yourself a Konghead…….same design of chasses……but 6 wheels😊😊
🇩🇰🇩🇰cool job 🤩Nice build🇩🇰🇩🇰

That was nice bashing. Painting is what absolutely hate, can't do it if my life dependent on it lol
I have the same issue with airbrushing
Nice job on the body. Looks like it goes well. Even with bearings there must be a bit of drag on that drive line.
Not as bad as I expected. It didn't feel boggy or anything like that,
This truck reminds me a little bit of Kyosho Big Brute 😂
I wonder what it would be like as a quad track😀😀😀
With 4 wheel steering and a Spyker Workshop snowblower on the front. 😈😈😈🎅🎅🎅

is scotch blue tape better than tamiyas one??

If tamiya had produced the chassis in carbon and alloy it would’ve been even better
Now, how dose it compare to kyosho mad wagon?
Completely different animals. The Mad Wagon is more of a basher stunt truck than the Squash Van. The squash Van is more classic vintage Tamiya (Monster Beatle vibe)
@@RCKickschannel ah. Good point. The suspension reminds me of a tlo1
Im surprised at just how little protection the rear of the motor has?
Absolutely do not take that to the skate park!!!! And I just finished the video 🫣🙄
Oh absolutely do. It’s not a dust collector. He’s got plenty dust collectors
I do.
Footage is really underwhelming for 2023 and the name and looks of the thing is strange. What is this truck meant for? apart from the shelf?
It’s best found in the back garden zooming around on the grass. Well that’s my best guess.
@@RCKickschannel Arrma Gorgon really shows this up for the money if we are honest.
Nice paint job, just dont like the colour. 😂
You don’t like the Tamiya Metallic Blue! It’s stunning in the sunlight. Why, why would you not like that colour?
