I've been called much worse, so thank you! Lol! - But seriously, the SV rocked that Castle system like it was made to be there! Albeit, 3S was a bit much, 2S is the sweet spot for this rig!
@@poorboysrc I’ll admit in my head it did have an expletive in it but only in the best possible way. 😂 Yeah the 2S with some more suitable tyres and I’m not sure what would stop it? I’m so taken with the SV and I’m looking forward to your further adventures with it. All the best!
@@Divefire Hahaha, I appreciate the self-censoring, I know it can be tough at times. Lol! The SV is just so capable, and such a blast to rip around in. Some good tires, and better tuned suspension, and this truck would be an all-day basher, every day. I'll keep putting the SV in harm's way, and I hope you keep watching. Stay Excellent!
So busy..... took me 3 attempts to finish the video. Great job Fil . Myself I like soft suspension with plenty of droop. When @TAMIYAUSAOFFICIAL announced the kit I had an instant criticism of using a 30+ year old tire design.
Hey buddy, I was wondering where you were. You're usually top 3 in comments, haha. All good man, it's the season to be busy. I hope you're all set for Christmas with a couple dozen fresh IPA's in the fridge, and a bunch of RC projects to wrench on. Merry Christmas, my man!
Well that motor certainly woke her up, Fil! 😅 As for the soldering, yep, been there, done that!!! I think we all have! After trying Rob's Konghead with RWS I must say I prefer mine with FWS better, so I think you are wise to give the conversion a miss! Man, I was wincing many, many times in this video as the Von Squash tumbled, rolled and crashed into the ground - but wow, she is a tough cookie and just shrugged it off and kept going! Great thinking to lower the truck, night and day difference right there! Thanks for the slomo shots at the end - Icing on the cake, dude! Finally, wishing you and yours a wonderful Christmas and a peaceful and prosperous New Year! (And looking forward to see if we can team up on a few RUclips projects in 2024!) 🎄❄🤗👌👍
The beast is awaken, Mark! Haha! Now if I can just hold on to this enthusiastic monster, that'd be great! Hahaha! Merry Christmas to you and your family. Have a wonderful holiday, and yes, we'll need to get cracking on a project or two here in the new year. I can't wait! 🤩😉👊🏼
@poorboysrc I always forget the heat shrink before I make a perfect solder joint. Then, deaolder to put the shrink on. Then a solder joint that looks like a silver booger.
Wrong end on the speed control?? I feel that one! So you are not alone there. For the record I tell people that thats how i 'warm up' my soldering skills lol.
Yeah just a little much, hey? Haha! I'm not gonna lie, I did LOVE the power on 2S, it was amazing! This will be the new setup moving forward, as the GF-02 can handle it with ease. Merry Christmas, my friend!
I might look into fitting GF-01 wheels and lunchbox tires, that will lower it and give it a slightly wider stance. Either way it will be fun, these are so goofy it almost doesn't matter. I just hope they put out the body set for when I ruin my body 😂
Thanks pal! Yeah, I could get creative and lower it a touch more. There are some other upper shock mounting holes I could use. Might have to get some adjustable turnbuckles to compensate for all the camber. 😉
Hey great upgrade Fil. Like you say, the 4WS would make it tip over even more than it does already. 2s looks like plenty for this. 3s was just silly! Top stuff mate. Merry Christmas and very best wishes to you and yours 🎅🎄😁
Yes, soldered the wrong connector on it happens been there. I was thinking where you said the 4WS not needed, I was wondering if you did the conversion and turned the steering down so you go about the same amount of total turn would it be a little more stable. The thing is there will be less turn on each axle, but just a thought. Wow the drop in height and spring rate made a huge difference. Power is a bit too much, I might go with a 21t motor in the future. 3s crazy 🙂but the body looks so cool.
Yeah that suspension drop made a huge difference in the handling department, it was great! Only downside was losing a bit of ride height, but she made up for that with speed, haha. On 2S it's a really good blend of power/speed. 👊🏼
G’day Fil, Merry Christmas mate. Never had that problem with the Deans plug, I don’t use them😜. XT60s for me Fil. It was a great video with some jumps too, great stuff.
Merry Xmas to you and your family Phil! wow..i didn't think that the Tamiya plastic gears would hold up for so long with that bashing..maybe something i will do for an upgrade on my projects that i am working on throughout the winter time. cheers from Cambridge, Ontario and Happy New Years if we don't see you until then. Just a thought but how about next year you could possibly include a von squash speed run challenge along side the regular challenge that could make for some good times 🇬🇧✌️
They definitely fit, but you will need stiffer springs and thicker oil if you do this. I have the Tamiya alloy shocks on my dual hunter and thickening up the oil helps but it’s still a dagger chassis lol. I recently finished my build of the squash van and prefer the stance it comes with.
I just had a look and it appears as though they would fit. You'd need the WD dogbones as well, to compensate for the added width, but I think it would be doable. 👊🏼
Your thoughts about the 4WS're right. For low speeds good, on high speeds a nightmare. I have it on my Konghead and if there wasn't a third axle it would tip over much often as it alredy does (on harder surfaces). Great run with the BL😂 Merry Christmas Fil🎄🎄🎄
@poorboysrc agree and its still fun even if its brass monkey weather 🥶 but don't go to Mexico safer and nicer in Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia or Indonesia and Australia is great hope you can travel to this side of the world if you already haven't 👍
where did you find 60m oil dampers I've looked every where and bought two sets and 1 of them were 16th scale and the other 18th they don't give a very good description
Ya that's great I'm building the dual ridge and built the plasma edge II fortunately the front shocks on both are 65mm and at least there oil filled and not friction!
The stiffer shocks made it perform pretty well 👍 what do you think about the radio you used? Have been thinking about buying it but hesitate because of the range. Is it possible to set up endpoints with it? Nice video as always 👍
