      @Brian, your deadlift PR video made me want to make a PR of my own.
      Just yesterday pulled 285 lbs at around 137 lbs bodyweight.
      Keep inspiring us man. Keep working hard people.. :)

      Yea man, i really do appreciate that. But i think people really don't have any clue how deep this pool actually is. I am not even good in the 231 class, in the heavier classes, I am even less adequate. i appreciate the kind words but you will see what I am talking about after i compete at Nationals. The pool is Very, Very deep my friend!

      Brian Alsruhe Nonetheless, I think we're saying own your successes as well as your losses. We know you own your losses and claim them due to inadequate preparation, likewise we'd love to see you own your successes for doing the preparation!! Either way you're an inspiration to me and so many others and I admire your hard work, humility and desire to be the best version of yourself. God bless!

    Hey Brian, huge shout out from India. I don't know if you remember this but I had written an e-mail to you about barbell rows and you had asked me to prioritize it and back training in general.
    I followed your advice and all of my lifts have gone up in 6 weeks. Also my frame appears a bit more bigger and muscular.
    Thank you so much for your advice and may you continue to prosper and shine other people's lives.
    Huge amount of respect!!!!!!!!!!!

      dario i know the feeling man, I'm a pretty longboned dude but my leg leverages for deadlift are awesome, so when I go to the rec I feel like dudes are looking at me like "is this white boy really gonna deadlift that weight" then I blast it for a solid set of 10 on my 1+ set and feel like a beast. Then i walk my ass over to the bench and try to get my long arms to cooperate on my poverty benchpress XD

  • @samuelrussell5760
    @samuelrussell5760 7 лет назад

    Brian, Congratulations on the win. Did you feel it was fair for them to drop the weight on the deadlift and give everyone else a second shot? You seem to be too big a man to complain, but if they hadn't done that you probably would have won without the yoke. If they don't give everyone a second shot, they all get zeros and you get max points. That would be an almost insurmountable advantage, especially with you taking 1st and then two seconds in the following events.
    That said, I understand that it's really hard to figure out exactly how hard a car deadlift will be, so it makes sense for them to drop the weight.

    Hey Brian, just competed in my first National qualifier (Canada) in the 198 class. I thought I'd qualify but didn't, it was so damn close, events were literally fractions of seconds in separation. Just couldn't squeak out the little amount of extra I needed, so now I need to get used to this lighter body weight and qualify next year. You and your athletes have been a big inspiration to me for not needing to be a massive guy, but being more athletic. Most of our local guys are huge with very few smaller guys, so thanks to you and everyone at your gym for inspiring me to lose over 30 lbs and be more competitive.

Competing with 242 instead of 225-230ish has shown the best results! Dropping so much weight hurt your performance big time... you are way better off on the "heavier" side.

    Congrats, Brian. Just a question of reflection for you - based upon the results of your last two competitions where you did not do the unnecessary, totally sapping (and therefore stupid) "making weight," have you thought about not worrying about your weight and instead competing in your maximal state of health at whatever weight you come into the competition? Clearly, your results tell you that you are completely competent to compete with just about anyone at your level of training regardless of weight. Thanks for the great information and producing content that I can watch with my kids.

    This result does not surprise me at all. You have such a great attitude, it will translate to everyone at your gym and by the sounds of things you have all done amazingly. Cannot get enough of this channel!

    That extra weight of the hybrid was all the irony the car has to carry because it charges from a fossil fuel supplied power point.
